Replaced my belt on the 1125R. First time on any Buell I have owned. Seemed like a shame to toss it (call me a pack rat). Anyone do anything cool around the garage with an old belt? Or have any good ideas? I could string it across a couple joists and add some carabiners. I always seem to want to hang stuff temporarily. Might come in handy. Any other ideas? | ||

You replaced it and it's still in one piece? I guess mine was technically still in one piece after it snapped. That was somewhere around 9000 miles. | ||

Unless it is cracked, you hang on to it as a spare. If it is cracked, you cut it up and use it with a strap wrench, the rubber straps always stretch too much and a belt makes a great replacement. | ||

get a piece of 3/8" plywood, cut it in a circle to fit the belt around the outside of it. Drill 1/4" hole in center, sand smooth. go to walmart, and have your favorite picture of you and the bike printed in poster size to fit on that plywood. Glue picture to wood and trim around the edge, then glue the belt around the outside, teeth pointing out. Next, go to hobby lobby and buy a clock kit, then install it on your new bike picture artwork thing  Pour Urethane on top and allow to dry and cure, becoming a big Buelltiful wall hanging. You can also purchase numbers at the same store and place them around the edge to help accurately tell time. Your welcome... | ||

I use old fanbelts in the garage to hang things (like bikes) from my chain hoist. I have a bunch of different sizes laying around. Very strong (if not cut) and easier to work with than a chain. Pro-tip: an M2 hanging by the head stock with back wheel on the floor will flip over. | ||

I hung my S2 by the frame right at the front isolator with the rear wheel on the ground so that I could replace the steering head bearings. It wobbled a lot but it didn’t fall over. With the hoist holding the front of the frame at a fixed height, I don’t see how it could have fallen. | ||

Hey guys, My belt had a big chunk missing out of it, so it's technically not snapped, but I consider it retired. After 27,000 miles I figured it has served me well. I just hope the new one lasts nearly as long. Keep those ideas coming! Bartimus has a pretty neat idea methinks. | ||

I wouldn't use it for bearing any type of load. They make all kinds of things for that - rope, tubular nylon, flat nylon, steel cable, etc. Lots of safe options. I wouldn't take the chance of busting up your motorcycle because it was hanging from a worn-out belt. | ||
