ATGATT.

Sidi boots, Buell adventure pants over Levi's. Klim armored jacket. Summer riding gloves (fieldsheer?). Shoei neotec modular.

Sprained right ankle. Impact left heel. Nothing broken. Clean cat, MRI, and X-rays. Unfortunately slid feet first and the Klim slid up, I'm rashed from right ass cheek to left shoulder blade. No bare flesh, top layer only. Walking without crutches, ankle wrapped. Pissed off.

Bike is likely totaled. 60ish mph, trooper says I cut the deer in half. Looks like at least 100 yard slide. 125+ for the bike. But boss said when he went and collected the bike and debris, it started and runs. We'll see.

Sorry about the bike but very glad you will heal up. Can you get opioids?

Can but won't. Prescribed tramadol and an antibiotic. Only filling the antibiotic.

For me 500 mg Ibuprofen did more than the opioids. Sorry about the bike but glad your upright!

Good to hear you aren't worse off. Deer can be nasty! In this area, they have suddenly been on the move again this past week.

Why don't they stick to the deer crossings!

Cleaning and debrieding again. I won't share pics of the rash but...it doesn't tickle. All things considered though I'll take it.

How effective are you with geese? I'd be willing to pick up your expenses.
Seriously, glad it didn't turn worse than it did. Use the time to heal wisely, like deciding which new bike to get.

You walked away. That's the important thing. The bike can be replaced. ATGATT.

I'll pray for a speedy recovery.

This happened to a friend. He left work at midnight and took the long way home because it was so nice out. He was at 45 mph when a deer jumped out of a ditch and he hit him right behind the shoulder. The ass end of the deer swung around and hit him in the leg and snapped it in half. His knee was on the tank and ankle against the primary of his Harley. He didn't go down but came to a stop. He went to put his kickstand down and saw his foot just flopping around! The cops thought he was drunk but he wasn't. After he left in the ambulance his son and the cop found the deer in the ditch. Then the cop believed his story. From then on he called his bike the deer slayer!

Dang Joe! hate to hear of this, SO glad you're basically OK. I'm tempted every now and then to do my 50 mile commute on the Beemer, but- late coming home, 70ish MPH, tired from work, nah. Especially now!

Heal well, hope the debriding goes as well as possible (OWIE!!), and keep us posted. Also- did your boss manage to field-dress and recover your fresh venison along with the bike?? ; )

Advil gel caps are easier on the stomach than the regular pills.

A buddy did the same, cut a deer in half, but bike & rider ended up in mud in corn field. He was knocked out for a few seconds, and woke up blind & drowning, helmet full of mud. Lucky as heck. Bike was fixable, Honda 750 Sabre. He had bruises. ( can't tell about brain damage, no different from "normal". ; ) )

When he got the bike back from shop, looked fine. Until we started it and the deer guts & feces in radiator warmed up.

We were not popular at the do it yourself wand car wash. Really not.

Glad you made out not that bad. Scars, chicks dig them. Vitamin E ointment helps but consult doc. May be wrong mix with prescribed stuff.

Glad you're OK, Joe. When my ankle got crushed, the doctor put me on Percoset for the pain. I found that the percs just put me out in space, but didn't help with the pain at all. I quit taking them and just took 800 mg Motrin. The Motrin brought the pain down to a tolerable level and didn't leave me out in the Twilight Zone.

It sounds like you're going to be hurting for a little while, but you should recover fairly swiftly. I hope so.

I also hope the S2 is easily repaired. It's too nice a bike to go to a boneyard.

That sucks. I'm glad you're mostly OK though.
When I had my little "get off" of my old dirtbike, they gave me vicodin or percocets too.
I found they didn't do anything useful.
In my case, aleve and guiness seemed to work the best.

Must be something in the air.

I danced with a deer this morning, but I zigged as she zagged and I barely missed her. Close enough to smell her though.

A mile up the road, a squirrel ran right between my tires. We both got lucky because it was the beginning of a corner and I had already committed.

Good to know a deer can't keep you down Rat...

Just like 10 years ago - I'm too dumb to quit!

Back then the surgeon told me they thought I was leaving in a bag, but they put me together anyway since they were a teaching hospital.

Last night the ambulance crew couldn't believe I was full of so many bad jokes and smart responses, and that I kept refusing pain meds.

I have a pretty high tolerance I guess.

I suspect the S2 is done. I caught a glimpse as I slid - about 120 yards judging by a drive-by last night coming home from the hospital - of the bike sliding 30 yards more than me, sparks dancing as it went along the pavement. Boss says it started and ran when they loaded it up, but I'm not expecting much.

Well if it didn't bounce and flip a slide can cause mostly superficial damage.

As hard as the impact was with the deer (I was covered belt to helmet with a sheet of red deer blood; the first person on-scene thought I was going to die till I opened the face on the modular helmet and explained that the blood outside the clothes was all the deer's), I'd be surprised if the frame isn't trashed just from the forks and neck collapsing.

Mentally, as much as it sucks...I've written it off already. I do love that bike, have had it for almost 15 years, but...it's a machine. I'm still here. Priorities. Doesn't mean I won't put humpty-dumpy together again if I can...but I don't expect that to be an option.

Glad you're OK. Sorry to hear about your bike.
I bet you taught that deer a lesson though, I bet it will never get hit by another motorcycle again.
