It would be great to have a sound sent to my bluetooth helmet system to tell me my blinker is on. Does anyone know if that even exist? |

How about wire your turn signal relay to include the horn? |

Or wire up a light on the dash that blinks when the turn signals are on. Sarcasm aside, no, sorry, I’m not aware of such a thing. |

Buy another com set and tape the mike to the blinker relay. Every time it’s on you’ll hear it clicking. |

Get a bluetooth transmitter, feed it a signal from an oscillator in the audible range. Have the oscillator turn on with the turn signals. |

I use yellow sunglasses to help with my vision and I cant see the green indicator on the instrument cluster very well. And try as I might, I sometimes fail to cancel my indicator. and having a audible sound would help. |

I was kidding about the light. |

Hmmm... if color is an issue, perhaps you can open up the gauge cluster and change out the green plastic for something with more contrast? I'm not sure what Hootowl's scribblin's mean. |

Mount another set of blinkers underneath the front ones, but backwards and with BRIGHT LED amber conversion bulbs. unless the sun is at your back, I doubt you'd miss that. It also makes your lane change indications more visible to those in your blind spots. Hootowl's drawing thingy still requires you to couple it to your helmet audio somehow. I think I like Froggy's idea best I did that to co-worker once as a joke (actually just one of a series we played back and forth on each other) |

Worked on a bike with a fairing, and no easy way to tell if the turn signals were on or not. Went to an auto parts store, and picked up a couple of small 12 volt indicator lights that mount in a small hole in the dash. Made brackets, mounted one on each side of the inside of the fairing. Big enough to be easily seen, don't affect the flash rate, and various lens colors are available. Hope this helps, Dave |

I suppose if you wanted to be sneaky, you could mount an LED to the top of a windscreen with magnet wire and clear epoxy. If you were really sneaky, you could use 0805 SMD LED with a current limiting resistor hidden under the dash. Those can be surprisingly bright. |

Can't help with the light visibility ,maybe what others suggested for placing a extra bright light next to the dash. Have a yellow visor on my helmet and no problem with seeing the green turn signal light at all. Sometimes also wearing sunglasses with bright shiny days. I like the yellow visor ,it makes things a lot brighter and even is very calm for the eyes. |

It’s not mine. Googled 400hz oscillator. Found many for sale for ridiculous sums. I was an avionics tech in the Navy, many moons ago, and I remember enough about it to know that it shouldn’t cost more than twenty bucks and a trip to radio shack (if they still sell discrete components) to put one together. |

How about a cheap piezo beeper wired into the pre-switch power, at the blinker relay. It will beep with either of the signals and not disrupt the wiring much at all. Or just get in the habit of pressing the switch down to re-set it at convenient intervals. (Message edited by shoggin on February 13, 2018) |

That’s what I do. It’s muscle memory at this point. Turn, accelerate, straighten up, push the signal off. |

Yep, same here. If I have to clutch...it's been on too long. Flip the thumb up, press, done. Not terribly difficult. |

Chuckling at those last 2 from Hoot & Rat, then thought about today's short ride and I remember pushing the button at least 6 times in a couple of miles... Muscle memory indeed. Z |

Can't you just buy a relay that shuts the blinker off automatically? |

Pfft. I've flown a glider before..."how hard can it be"? For those not familiar with that quote...stand by for disaster. |

I have flown Hang gliders for over 30 years, and it is very hard to learn. What I would like is, to have the motorcycles manufacturers set up a bluetooth system to have the blinkers and any other important information delivered to me through bluetooth, since most of us use it already. |

Harleys have had self canceling turn signals for decades. Why don't other bikes? |

Because most other riders simply push the button. My cars don't self cancel, why would I expect my bike to? Bluetooth? I can't see that being a realistic consideration for manufacturers...especially on a bike that has no infotainment system at all. They have a gauge cluster to deliver all the information to you. This isn't VR... |

Every car and truck I've ever owned (and most were shitboxes) had turn signals that shut off after the steering wheel was turned. I bought a turn signal canceler for my M2. It didn't work nearly as well as the automatic system that H-D uses, but at least I wasn't riding around with my blinker flashing all the time. Every time I go on a group ride, there's somebody who forgets to turn off his turn signal. next time you're out with a group, watch and you'll see. It really sucks when an oncoming car sees your blinker flashing and takes that left right in front of you because he thought you were going to turn. |

You're right. A turning steering wheel cancels car signals. The HD system reads speedo distance. My mental disconnect, sorry. My point was if I signal a lane change with a full-click on the stem in my car, it won't cancel. You have to turn the wheel. So a car can still be driven with a signal on. Yes, it sucks when someone turns left in front of you because they thought you were turning. But...whose fault is it? Pay attention and just hit the button. It's. Not. Hard. And honestly, it's your responsibility as a rider to know how to operate your machine, and to do so properly. Yes? |

My Luddite opinion is getting Bluetooth to work with your phone at all is a technological triumph. Adding a device to make an annoying noise that over rides your music and phone, taking the top dog slot in your volume control, is certainly possible. But perhaps not desirable. Imagine, you're cruising along with Red Barchetta soothing the soul, & every time you change lanes, braaaaaxxxxxx, braaaaaxxxxxx, braaaaaxxxxxx. Visual warning exists, so you might want to add an extra light. A shift light type flashlight to the face? ( Not good for safety at night, & then the turn signal itself is obvious ) or illuminated wind screen edge? With a switch to turn it off a night? |

They make mp3 door bell units for under $100 that can use any customer made/found mp3 file. So you can finally have the Bill Cosby doorbell. "Somebody's at the door!" That also lets you do the Red Foreman turn signal alert. A commercial Bluetooth hub, with music player and phone inputs should let you choose which input is played over another. ( phone ring over music for example ) Your helmet earphones then have just one signal to deal with.. Otherwise you need a helmet Bluetooth headset that can sort & bind to multiple inputs. Not sure how available or expensive that is. |

They made Dodges and Chryslers that way too. "A door is ajar". No...a door is a DOOR!! sheesh... If the new Venture is any indication, Bluetooth tech hasn't got enough channels of send/receive. The Venture uses corded headsets for all the bidirectional stuff involved in intercom, audio source, and two-zone audio - the rider can listen to one source (tunes/itunes/XM/nav) and/or make one phone call, and the passenger can have their own totally separate environment (tunes/calls), while still retaining rider/passenger intercom capability. But they couldn't do it wirelessly, so in addition to BT capability on the Venture (for base operations like shared calls, or shared tunes), they have a wired headset arrangement. The new 'wing has all-bluetooth...and no two-zone setup. And they both use flashing bulbs on the dash for the turn signals. EVERYONE has eyes; not everyone has (or wants) BT in their helmets. |
