Two episodes in last 7 days, one last night ended me in local er to get heart rate down. 5 hours at 180+ bpm was a bit much. wife really gets anxious as they seem to happen more frequently. strange as I had a meniscus repair on 11/3 and a colon resection on 11/13. made it through all of that without any svt events but I certainly doubled up this past week. Just curious as to anyone here having suffered with this? |

More I research this stuff , it seems that a whole lot of kids have it. Sad! Hard enough for me to stand up to these events with a calm mind. I know getting flipping mad will trigger a event. Boss commented one day that my shrimp alfredo stunk at lunch. Words started and within a hour I called wife to come pick me up. He don't talk bout my food no more tho. But heart rate popped into 170 range. Some events I can stop but others I wind up in er with. Just curious about other folks here on badweb. All of us are getting older and trying to manage a ton of different ailments |

My mom has always been an easy trigger into Tachy. I thought I was gonna kill her with a Boo! in my early years. She'd lay down and r3elax and let it subside while I apologized... She's 86 and still kicking, hang in there. |

I have had it. Also about 170 or so. I had two ambulance trips due to it and it is very scary, so I feel ya. In my case it was a side effect of the ablation I had for a-fib. There are drugs that control heart rate. Diltiazem works OK for me with few side effects but it's not the most effective. It's all down to what you can tolerate. If you are a candidate, an ablation can be a permanent fix so ask your cardiologist about that. It can take more than one to work (I had four). I have had quite a ride on the heart-o-coaster in the last 10 years so if you want, you can PM me. My advise is pretty worthless but the patient experience may help you. |
