The schools are complaining it costs them hundreds of thousands to provide security when "controversial" speakers are invited on campus.

Note that even in the case of alleged Hillary supporter alleged white supremacist, alleged agitprop, alleged human, Spencer shows up it's not the invited, or those interested in listening, or the inviters, that cause the violence and property destruction. It's the left in the persons of paid bused in masked thugs and leftist professors, & few students of those hate filled teachers, that burn businesses and smash windows and assault people.

It's plain as day that if the Time Travel Club got George Washington and Jesus Christ to come speak, the campus would be on fire and swastikas would be drawn in blood of the victims on the walls.

The Mayor of Berkeley would condemn the Club while dining with Hamas and the Delegation of the Red Chinese Army.

The left can be bankrupted by simply inviting conservatives to come speak. Not a bad idea!

Are these pro athletes really this stupid? Then again, why not jump on the stupid train, given how well it's working out for the NFL.

http://www.breitbart.com/education/2017/11/06/flor ida-professor-blasts-toxic-masculine-capitalism-of -beauty-and-beast/

We have a winner!

Toxic masculinity isn't enough! Oh, no! This cretin rails against the corporate capitalism of a medieval town under the feudal system. This is like complaining that Wizard Of Oz promotes Facebook. There's nothing in there remotely about such future concepts.

Oddly he says nothing about Stockholm syndrome or the fact that Belle is an outcast since she's apparently the only person in town that reads.

There's plenty of deconstructionous fodder in Beauty and the Beast. It's been torn apart by generations of -ist Studies students. Any Disney animated princess movie before Brave is full of toxic masculinity, regressive sexuality, feminist rage inducing dependencies, & a host of anachronistic morality that sounds creepy in the extreme if you look at it as social commentary.

This bozo snowflake must have thought all that well mined territory. Or was too dumb.

Btw. I consider Brave & The Incredibles to be breakthrough films worth a top twenty slot in any best ever list. Not knocking Toy Story or Inside Out, which explore philosophical concepts in new ways.

The Incredibles & Brave, years apart, are pinnacles of animation as art, and deeply human stories made all the more realistic in their fantasy settings. Princess Merida's rebellion to an arranged marriage and the inherent danger of wishes/spells is classic fairytale updated with a keen awareness of the genre. If you missed it, by all means just buy a copy and watch it with the Significant Other. A perfect night for popcorn. And maybe wine. If you don't get a little choked up, you're way to stoic. : ) if you don't laugh? Get help. And the animation is spectacular. Subtleties of plot and mythos.

Ditto with The Incredibles. Breakthrough animation. Human characters. Realistic frustrations in a heroic context. And the greatest animated character, ever.... Edna Mole. "No capes, darling". Screw Citizen Kane. This is the must see example of the craft for film students.

Sad.

My takeaway though is a phrase that law enforcement should start to use.

Cops don't kill whites. Cops don't kill blacks. Cops don't kill hispanics. Cops...kill CRIMINALS.

Don't break the law? You won't get shot.

Cops are not judge and jury.

"Don't attack a police officer and you won't get killed in self defense" sounds better to me.

Correct.

But...break the law and the cops pay attention to you in the first place. There's a middle step there - which you pointed out - but if you're law-abiding in the first place....all you'll get from a cop is a smile and a wave and a "have a nice day!".

I may have told this story before and I apologize if I did but Ratbuell reminded me of it.
I was riding into the state of Washington on hwy. 2 and saw a police officer coming at me. I checked my speed and I was at 55 so no problem. I looked in my mirror as he passed and I saw him nail the brakes, hit the lights and do a u-turn like you would see in Smokey and the Bandit! I pulled over and got off the bike since my back side needed a rest. He pulled up and approached me very carefully. He asked for my license so I gave it to him and asked him why he pulled me over. He pointed at his head and said, "no helmet". I told him Washington didn't have a helmet law and he claimed they always have. I told him I had checked my atlas which has state by state laws and it said Washington only had a law for 18 and under. I then asked him if I could show him my book and he agreed. I showed him what I had read and then told him the book was one year old and if they changed the law in the last year then I would gladly put my helmet on for him. At that point he got very friendly and said that maybe it did change in the last year. At that point he told me to put my helmet on and I thanked him and we shook hands and he went on his way. Attitude does go a long way when dealing with anybody but especially the police!

Absolutely.

People get pissed at cops for pulling them over, or for interviewing them, or for flat out arresting them in the process of whatever they're doing wrong. Well...YOU (the general "you", Greg, not you specifically in this case) did something wrong, or the cop wouldn't have bothered with you. Don't get mad at them for doing their job. Don't agree with speed limits? Vote to have them changed. Don't want to go to jail? Don't steal that fifth of whisky. Don't want to get shot at? Don't brandish a gun in public, or threaten a clerk "gimme the cash!", or take your kid hostage to piss off your ex-wife.

I take my lumps when I get pulled over...and it's not the cop's fault, it's mine. I did wrong, I didn't set my cruise control going down the mountain, the car freewheeled way past the speed limit, I got caught. Happens. Not the officer's fault. Manners DO go a long way - something that is completely lost on this current generation.

Speaking of - and getting back on Snowflake topic - this current generation is now trying to BAN CHRISTMAS in the name of inclusion and equality! Multiple college campuses have rules that you can NOT put up Christmas decorations because it can offend "other" religions.

Um.

Wait.

So...you can put up Kwanzaa decorations, or display your menorah...but I can't put up a wreath or a tree? I can't do Secret Santa gifting? Hell, I can't watch Rudolph because it's a racist movie?

(https://pjmedia.com/lifestyle/sjws-show-their-own- ugly-bigotry-in-attacking-rudolph-the-red-nosed-re indeer/)

This shit has to STOP. Do these people even realize how ridiculous (and two-faced) they really are?? "EVERYONE can celebrate their holiday of choice...except Christians, because they're bad, nnnkay?"

"Equality" seems to apply to everyone except the Right. But that's not division...that's all about "inclusion".

Me? Everyone gets a big grin and a "MERRY CHRISTMAS" out of me!!

You can be law abiding and still get attention from the cops. I was driving home from playing hockey one night and got pulled over for no reason. I asked the cop why I was stopped and he said my car matched the description of one they were looking for.

But to the point, I was polite and followed his instructions and he let me go and said have a nice night. The problem in most of the instances that make national news is that the individuals in question didn't follow the instructions of the officer and that escalates the situation.

I was traveling, I think it was in Nebraska at the time, going down the expressway. I noticed a cop way up in front of me pull a u-turn through the grass in the middle, kicking up all kinds of dust. He had barely gotten on the road going the other direction as I went by, and he did he exact same thing again. I had my cruise control set at 4 over the limit, and was pretty sure it wasn't a speed issue, and he would't have had a chance to clock me, but there's always the bear in the air. This was far more aggressive than a normal speeding stop though. He caught up to me, and still didn't have his light on. I had knocked the cruise control down to 2 over the limit. After a couple of minutes of following me, he finally put on his lights. I pulled over, and as he approached, he was taking a good look into the back of my van, which was filled with mountain bikes and luggage. He finally got to my window and told me to get out, and go back to his squad car. My buddy asked if he should go to, and was told very sternly to stay put, inside my van. In the squad car, he took my license, and grilled me with 40 or 50 questions about where I was from, where I was coming from, what I was doing there, where I stayed, how I knew my friend, what he did for a living, on and on. Repeating some questions several times. During all of this, I could see my speed registered on his radar at 2 over the limit, but my speed was never mentioned. Eventually, he handed me my license, and said sorry for the inconvenience. I have no doubt they had something serious going on that involved a van that looked like mine. Stuff like that happens. Making a stink over it with the cop will likely not go well for you, regardless of how innocent you are. Sometimes you are suspicious just for being there.

Van. Bearded men. Salt & pepper team. It's the CHIPS standard bad guy formula. ( because you can't carry a stolen tv in a beetle, & mixed race occupants are always criminal gangs, & hipsters are decades away )

This pretty much describes my life. Hang glider on the roof or bikes in the back just trips the "huh?" Button with cops and makes them look harder. Being the CHIPS rolling cliche means I have had frequent polite conversations with suspicious police. ; )

On occasion when they've calmed down I've asked if they were fans of the show. Then pointed out that Ford vans always crashed into something but if it's a Dodge van it's going to do a jump stunt during the pursuit. ( flying Fords have the twin I-beam suspension and total on impact )

Every cop I've pointed out that I'm a CHIPS criminal cliche laughs like a loon.

Sure, I've gotten tickets for speeding and one time had the officer who pulled me over hand my license and registration to a second cop who did a slow walk around looking for equipment violations. You just grin & bear it when they get all excited on a boring night. Argue in court, not on the street with nervous armed men. It was an apparent speed contest ( a violation in New York ) and the other guy ran. ( stranger, just an ego driven throttle stomp on my part.... not really racing..... just..... stupid ) so there were five cop cars that came to help and ended up parked around my van. Eating donuts. No kidding.

I'll skip the joys of having a very petite girlfriend who looked 15 when she was 20.
In a van.
With a beard.
With murals.

Back in the early 70's in Pensacola Florida I had a city cop follow me for about 3 or 4 miles. Didn't know why, speed was ok, not doing anything stupid and I was in a white 1967 Olds F-85. Not exactly a car to attract attention. Finally two more units show up and the lights go on. I pull over to the side of the road and like an idiot, I get out of the car. Suddenly several guns are pointed at me with the scream of "FREEZE!!". I freeze and yell back, "FROZEN!!". Turns out they were looking for a young white, blond male in a white 4 door car. I fit that description to a tee. Once they figured out I wasn't who they wanted, they were fine, everyone calmed down.

But the business end of that shotgun looked as big as an open garage door.

Years ago, I did get popped for street racing.

'72 Plymouth Satellite STATION WAGON. Remember the Brady Bunch wagon? Same model, except mine's green (weren't they all?). Still have the car.

I used to go hunt for Mustangs with my wagon. At the time I had a high-compression 360 smallblock, about 450hp, with a manual-shift 2400 stall 3 speed auto that would chirp the 1-2 and the 2-3. She was stout (currently waiting for my fundage to allow parts accumulation to swap in a GenIII Hemi 5.7 EFI).

Anyhoo.

Downtown, on the usual Saturday night cruise circuit, I had some young kid in a Mustang hear the dual exhaust on my wagon (with a .513" lift cam, you could definitely tell it wasn't a grocery getter) and staged me at a light. Cleaned his clock, four lights in a row. Then, we both got pulled over. I wasn't surprised, honestly, I knew when I was doing it that it was stupid but...well, we've all been there.

One cruiser in front of me; Mustang behind me; a cruiser behind him. My dome light was on and hands on the wheel, window already down, when the officer approached my door. "Yes, sir". "No sir". "I understand, sir". He walked towards the rear of my car and met the other officer there to discuss.

They didn't realize the tailgate window in my wagon rolled down...and that I had it open.

"How's the guy in the wagon?"

"Super nice, polite guy...and he should be, he waxed that poor Mustang for three lights that I could see, that freakin thing is fast! Hows the guy in the Mustang?"

"Dick. Rude, has an attitude, swearing at me for pulling them over..."

"OK, let me give this guy his license back and we can take care of the other one together".

Walks up to my window, hands me my license (not knowing I'd heard it all; I'm trying SO hard not to smile or laugh), and says "take it home, I don't want to see this car out again tonight. And when you get home...SCRAPE YOUR DIAL-IN OFF THE WINDOW." Through a huge smile. "Absolutely, sir. Thank you, have a good night. I do have to go up to the next light to make a U turn to get back to the highway, just don't want you to think that's me making another pass..."

Manners count.

And they had the other guy out of his car by the time I'd made my U and went past.

Scrape your dial in off the window..... : )

3 years ago I got pulled over on my Cyclone, Buttercup.

Reactor yellow & black. Yellow and black mesh armored jacket, black lid with yellow Daffy Duck face on back. ( custom decal ) Officer was clearly nervous and excited, hand hovering above gun, probably watched Sons of Anarchy.

Engine off. Kickstand down. Ostentatiously removed gloves in plain view. Pulled glasses off, carefully removed helmet, while calmly and politely greeting officer. He was taken aback at the grey hair & maturity. We then had a nice conversation where I pointed out the six piston brakes "At my age I want to be able to stop", discussed the Buell, "Sportster engine in a great handling frame, not that fast, but corners great, I don't care if the Suzukis are faster, I'm too old to ride like a monkey humping a football, been there, done that." After polite suggestions to take it easy, we parted ways with no problems. I still don't know exactly why he pulled me over. : )
