OK guys, kind of looking for a cheap used, completely stock, Honda Grom. Cheap being around $2000. Stock being really truly stock because I want it for a stock racing class: http://www.nyminigp.com/mini-gp-racing/race-classe s/ Stock 100 or 40+ Stock 100 and maybe Grom spec. if we get enough of them to have a separate run. This is in addition to my little KAYO "rocket" (compared to a Grom it is a rocket). Right now I can race F1 on the KAYO and do very well (if my skills improve) and race F2 (and maybe not get lapped if my skills improve). If I want to run one of the endurance races, I'm screwed because I would need to be in F2 and will never place very well. I was looking at a newer entry from SSR called the Razkull, but it isn't approved and they don't seem to want to work with me to try and get it approved. There are zero accessories for the Razkull (like rearsets and levers) so I would be making EVERYTHING. The only real thing that attracted me is the price of $2000 or less, can't find a used Grom for this right now, not even a '14. So throwing this out in hope that you guys can help me find one, maybe test ride it for me if it is too far away, help me get it shipped or picked up. I'm in central NY and race down near Monticello NY. My little trailer should hold it, I'll check this on Saturday to make sure (going down for a practice day). Willing to purchase in the winter as well (when the bikes are cheap) as this is really a 2018 venture). My KAYO stuff is located at http://minigp-racing.com and here is one picture of the KAYO and trailer being pulled by a Honda whatchamacallit: http://www.minigp-racing.com/joomla1/index.php/blo g/49-off-to-practice-oakland-valley-october-8-2016 The Grom is 5 inches longer wheelbase with similar size tires, so it should fit the trailer (barely). |

We can't keep them in stock here at work; I especially like the hi-liter yellow this year!! If you decide to go new (can't do $2k but I'll do what I can) let me know and I can put your name on one. Western Maryland dealer. Should see another one in 4-5 weeks I think. |

ALL of the Honda Groms are sold out around here. All you can find used are clones. We have grom gangs, and they're starting to be one of the biggest groups at bike nights. |

They've got a cult following here in MD too. Looks like our next one doesn't hit till late Oct. We do have a pair of Z125s though |

Z125 is too new to get a good price on, I doubt there are any used ones on the market yet. Going to ask at practice this weekend and see if there are any around and cheap. Most of the Stock 100's are Yamaha TTR125L, which I might consider building but there are none of those around either. And I'd like something that can do road duty (leaving the dirt bike out). Thinking rearsets (allowed) and maybe clubmans (not sure if that is allowed) or spin the stock bars down to give a lower sport like seating position. Probably a lithium battery to cut some weight, and sticky tires like Dunlop TT93. That's pretty much it for mods in the stock class, maybe play with fork and shock oil and maybe rig up some spring preloads for each end. (Message edited by Greg_E on August 24, 2017) |

I paid 3K for my Z125 and you won't find any used. |

Grom gangs are worse than Vespa gangs! I got caught in the middle of a Vespa gang at Deals Gap and was afraid,I saw a Grom gang and was terrified! |

Floor manager here is 6' and about 220. Has a grom with a pipe on it and says it's good for 67 mph. Cool little toys. Got a metallic green Z125 brand new for $2799 here. |

Crap! Used 15 Groms are more than $2800 here. Might have to rethink things and get a z125. Also need to be a 14-15 Grom, in 16 they put the exhaust below the pegs and thus removed rearsets from an option. |

Just checking into this thread... I would love to attempt a Iron Butt on one. |

You need the Razkull, holds more fuel at a time. But then will it even make that many miles??? |

Iron butt on a 125 has one less zero in the mileage number.... |

I wonder how a KE100 would compare with one of the newer tinybikes. I would wager the noodle suspension would make it pretty much garbage compared to the newer toybikes. I only bring that up since there are always a few of those darkening CL for less than $1000. |

>>>>Iron butt on a 125 has one less zero in the mileage number.... My friend Martin did the Iron Butt on his girlfriends 167cc 2 stroke Zundapp . . . changed piston and cylinder daily as I recall. I think they actually listed it as a 175cc.

Pretty much needs to fall within the listed bikes for Stock100 in one of the links in the first post. The Grom seems to have the most power in stock form, but not sure how the weight compares to the Z125. Also not sure about things like rearsets for the z125 as I certainly want to move the position around for a more streamlined ride and better cornering. |

Something different to consider- around here I've seen some pretty radical Ruckus' rolling around. There's something super funnin' about rolling on a small bike, fo sho. I'd LOVE to check out those KTM 390's, and now we've even got mini-Versys and stuff. Still regret not going to check out a CL listed, mutated YSR50 which had a CR125 motor stuffed into it, several years ago... |

You want a rusty old YSR that probably won't run ever again? It's sitting in the garage and probably will never be touched. Needs forks as the sliders have rust pits. The Fox shock is probably good as is the exhaust I bought all those years ago. The only reason I would consider keeping it would be if it could be used in the Stock 100, but as a two stroke I can't see it working out well in endurance races. Though we did put it through hours of hell when I last had it running in the mid 90's. |

I remember reading the cycle magazine article decades ago about the nutter that ran the ironbutt on the Zundapp! He must have brought a briefcase of headgaskets along. |

Packed up and ready to go for practice. 3 hour drive with check in starting at 3pm. Hope I don't blow up my Kayo from the engine mods I made. |

We just got two Grom's - one hi-liter yellow (TOO cool!), and one red with ABS (!). No idea why you'd need ABS on a 125, but there ya go...brand new, fresh out the crate this morning. |

What's the price on the '18s? I'm still surrounded by bozos that think a low miles stock 15 is worth $3000 when I'm pretty sure I can pick up a leftover 17 for less with a warranty. Pretty sure the local dealer has one or two on the floor still. What I don't like about the 16+ is the exhaust makes it much harder to put rearsets on, and much more expensive as there are few companies making them. |

MSRP is $3349 for a Grom; $3549 for a Grom ABS. Not a huge increase from last year, still a ton of fun. And it looks like early rearsets will fit a late bike, if you swap in a TYGA exhaust system...which, without a lot of research, tells me that if you put an early exhaust on a late bike, you can use early rearsets. Again - that's no research, but it may be possible to simply retrofit an exhaust. I'll ask around and see if I can get more info. |
