I spoke with a couple of DOT guys this morning and they will not be working on the weekends.I will try to find out what kind of work they will be doing,I had ear plugs in when I spoke with them and an extended conversation was not possible. Joe and I went to Big Jim's for lunch today,they are closed the weekend of the 28th but will be open next weekend for the Guzzi campout and also open the weekend of Buellvemberfest! | ||

You gotta admit though, 60 is a fine piece of pavement, especially from the rock pile to TWoS. Hopefully it’ll be open on Saturday and Sunday. | ||

60 is fine, when it's warm out and the pavement is dry... Those tar snakes give me the heeby-jeebies with the morning dew all over them. Personally I think Richard B Russell is the crown jewel of the whole area, but I really can't complain no matter which way I turn the bike... it's all good. | ||

Those tar snakes are even worse on a hot summer day near noon; like riding over strips of axle grease. Of course, they’re probably putting even MORE tar snakes down while the road is closed for maintenance.  | ||

Personally I think Richard B Russell is the crown jewel of the whole area, but I really can't complain no matter which way I turn the bike... it's all good. RBR was awesome. Fresh asphalt and chasing your ass on it was a hoot! | ||

I like them all, but I'm a fan of GA 60 west of TWoS. I like how you hit a set of serious twisties, then a long straight stretch, then another set of twisties, and repeat. It gives you places to safely pass, or to see traffic up ahead so you can back off before you catch up to them at the next set of twisties. There are some really cool views along the road too. | ||

So; let me see if I've got this straight... Highway 60 will be open during the rally. Jim's Smokin' Q will be open during the Rally. Two Wheels of Suches will be open during the rally. OK then. I just put in a RQ to be off Friday through Monday. Looking at the TWoS room availability, Lodge rooms 2 and 3 are still open. I like #3 to split costs, anyone still on the fence please holler. Dammit if I'm not gonna have a good MC ride and vacation on the skinny nickel. After Vegas I REALLY need some road time. I'll bring hotdogs and fixin's. | ||

RD- I forgot about Jeremy making it back to Suches FINALLY... about time!! So, I just spoke with Jenny (makin' me all Forrest Gumpy, sweet lady), and I've got a "soft" hold on room #3, waiting to confirm my schedule by this time next week. Standing by to hear from either Vern or Jeremy, one bed left unclaimed in #3. Let's GITERDUUN!!! Also- Mike, Matthew, or whomever local down there, as soon as it makes sense to do so, let's look at the weather. | ||

I still don't know. They pushed the date back to the last week of November to level my house so that's actually good news. Give me more time to prep the basement and hopefully will allow time to go riding, HOWEVER! I spent today in the hospital due to passing out in a restaurant last Friday. All weekend I felt like I was in a fog and if I tried to do anything I had to do it in short stints or I'd lose my concentration and even stagger a little as if I was at a Friday night bond fire at TWO!! As I was driving to breakfast this morning I got the same feeling and did a u-turn and went to the hospital. Blood work, ekg and a catscan of my brain showed I was in perfect health!! So nobody knows what's going on so we'll see how it goes the rest of the week. I do want to make it but can't confirm anything yet. | ||

WTH Greg?! You're a tall guy, do you have circulation problems? Weird that they can't nail down the cause so far. Maybe your insurance is so good they just want to drain some $$$ before they actually say what's wrong. Hope you get your ducks lined up and quacking in unison ASAP. | ||

RD- let's plan on heading out Friday AM together, if you need to overnite in Mur-vil Thursday, you're welcome. I'm planning on hitting Benton's in Madisonville TN on the way down, and lunch at Tellico Grains Bakery just before rolling TN68. Of course, the other option is Highway 129 about all the way there... I prefer TN68/GA60, with all the foodie places. | ||

I'm with you on the bug idea. An old friend and I were talking today and he said he had something similar last year. I have no flu like issues, just walking around in a fog and I can't seem to concentrate very well. Going to my Dr. in the morning and see what she says. | ||

Keep us posted Greg. Squids, I prefer 129 to get the Dragon off my bucket list and the curves with hills may knock the cobwebs out of my rusty brain.
