While the 1190R models are arguably some of the most beautiful motorcycles ever built, I've never ridden one and I'm curious how the "rider zone" compares to the 1125r. Frankly I don't foresee any opportunity to see one in person, let alone testride, so I'll ask this here. I personally think my 1125r fairing, complete with double bubble windscreen, is big and hideous. But it does a great job at getting me out of the wind when I tuck. I know the EBR 1190R models are totally different beasts but how effective would you say the fairing is at deflecting wind around the rider? Does the lower height of the clipons help any? Does the bike overall feel dramatically/noticeably lower and/or narrower? |

I have an 08 1125R that I have put around 30k miles on. The fairing is big and provides good cover from the elements. I have only had it up to 140mph indicated and I recall that was pretty bumpy, turbulent. Got a new 2012 1190RS Carbon in 2015 and she has near 2k miles. Definitely not a daily rider, but the handling stomps the 1125 almost as much as its power band does. Been to the Colorado Mile and the Texas Mile twice with this years' Colorado Mile in 2 weeks. Most of the runs are between 170-178mph with 178.4 being the fastest run so far. The RS gets smoother the faster you go but watch out for crosswind. 5-10mph cross gets REAL bumpy. HTH Z |

I don't know if anyone is actually looking at this thread.... I know Erik's motorcycles have kind of faded to the backburner on this forum... but if you're an EBR owner... How is the intake tract set up? I scoured google; I remember that one of the innovations for the EBR models was a massive airbox. But what is upstream of the airbox? I know the 1125 sucks air through a "straw" wedged between the frame and the front head. It seems to have a pretty small cross section. Did they find a better solution for the EBR models? |

Might help some... Some pics from eBay auctions might help, although they can be a little misleading. 1190 is bigger than 1125 FWIW... |

The intake snorkel for the 1190 is way bigger than 1125. Maybe it's double the size. It's much less restrictive and less bent. The stock RX fairing doesn't look like it gives you much coverage but it works better than you would guess. I have a ZG Corsa on the 1125 and while tucked you could probably stay dry in the rain. It's like a double bubble but no hump, just larger from the start and not as high as a touring. I have a taller race shield on the RX from some Aussie company that is taller than stock and works well in the tuck on the track. I liked the lower bars on the RX enough and it feels much more natural that I bought an EBR upper tree and clip-ons for the 1125. I like it on the street too but don't ride all day long either. |
