I posted this in the racing forum, but not many people have noticed, so I thought I'd cross-post here.
Just in case you haven't been following, the Bottpower guys from Spain who build a street tracker chassis that works with Buell XB running gear and engines, competed in today's race. The bike was built with an XBRR (!!!) engine:
Here's a photo of the crew during practice earlier this week:
Here's rider Travis Newbold during one of the practice sessions:
Here's the partially disassembled bike showing that massive XBRR mill. Note that they had to develop special offset intake manifolds so that the throttle bodies would clear the massive single backbone tube of the frame:
The #747 finished first in their class and forth overall among the motorcycles with an overall time of 10:28:552. Considering their competition, that's pretty freaking impressive. The 3 bikes that finished in front of them included 2 KTM 1290 Super Dukes and a Kawasaki.
You can buy the frame, gas tank, and various widgets from Bottpower. Bolt on engine, swingarm, and forks from a long-wheelbase XB, and you're set to go.
Now if you want an XBRR engine in yours, that's a whole 'nother deal.
Could one do similar intake manifolds on an 1125? I wonder what it'd take to put an 1125R lump in that frame, radiator up front like on the Magpul Ronin bikes... hmmm, sounds awesome
Thanks for posting here Hugh! I rode my Uly up Pikes Peak the week after the races one year and it was great seeing the tire marks in the braking zones and seeing the apex marks. When I did it part of the road was still dirt. Made for a better race in my opinion. Takes more talent to switch surfaces and was a complete hoot on the Uly at seven in the morning and nobody there! They did a nice job on that bike, looks great! I'd volunteer to ride it!

Hybrid- That is a cool idea. It'd be interesting to find out. I've thought it would be cool to put an 1125 or 1190 in a tube frame Buell, but that might be even cooler.

Here's an on-board video of winner Chris Whitmore's run up the mountain:
I would have to say regarding riding ~6" away from the edge of those no guardrail/multi-thousand foot drop-offs at WOT, not no, but hell no! I've ridden sections of the BRP at 45 MPH where you were in the open like that and that gave me the heebie jeebies.
Wow, he almost went into the ditch in the same place I did! I couldn't slide on the seat due to a huge vacuum! I didn't use both lanes but would have loved to! Great video!

Ive had the tuber thought as well...
The tuber thought would be easier - already got mounting points for everything - but what BOTT power is doing looks SO DANG GOOD!
