I had a surprise visitor after all. I also now know the location of that "Undisclosed Location..." Remind me to tell you more about it some time. (Message edited by jaimec on June 11, 2017) |

>>>That must be one WEIRD f'in H.O.A. in the new neighborhood.... That's an accurate statement. P.S. - I'm sure you remember some of the neighbors from a big party up here in 1969. They never left and, apparently, no one has told them the party is over. |

I guess I don't get the long hair thing in old men. I had really long hair from middle school all the way up until my 2nd week in boot camp. I bee-lined for the phone when I got off the bus in San Diego and ended up missing the haircut line. Same with one other guy. We were competing for longest hair in boot camp with hundreds of other buzz cut kids. His was longer by a couple of inches, but mine was fuller and thick! Sat about the middle of my back. After all the cat calls, and teasing, I was never so happy to see those locks hit the floor. I got the gold clipper award for busting a set of trimmers during the "trim". Damn things locked up and almost caught on fire. I kept my hair close cut until I moved to California and tried to blend in with the crowd. Even then it never made it past my collar. When I got married several years later I trimmed it for the wedding and the SO's Grandfather gave me a lot of grief for the length I kept it. Several years later I just could not take it any longer and have kept it mostly short cut for decades. I now have two neighbors older than me that have _really_ long hair. They don't trim it or keep it neat in any way and it just looks dirty and they come across looking like homeless dregs. I have started seeing a lot of old men with long dirty looking hair and really don't understand why they let it go without cleaning it up. I have started fearing the day I just stop taking care of my hair. I don't want to look like I need a good shower and place to sleep. The way my hair grows, I could have it to the middle of my back within 18 months, but just can't let it get that long. Hell, when I die, they are going to have to send the barber in for a buzz cut, otherwise it will grow right out of the casket.... So why do you think old guys just start letting their hair grow out? For those of you that have, why? Is it a phase? A longing for the 60's to return? Thoughts? |

The only reason I cut my hair was that Coca-Cola required it, and a tie. I sold out to the man, and made a boat load heading their "Department of I.T. hardware and implementation department" for Legal, back then they had a separate Corporate and Legal network. Token Ring no less. I was called Glitch long before that, back when Phreaking was a thing, but that's another story... Frankly now, I can't stand anyone touching my head. I can't describe the sensation. (Message edited by glitch on June 13, 2017) |

I used to have long hair but short is just so much easier to manage once you pull off the helmet. When I was in High School and College my hair was down past my shoulders. |

I have been corrected. Ann has me ALL figured out. She said, "you remember, right? you do remember me saying, I've got you all figured out, remember? Of course you remember, I do." She so funny! |

Hair? Hair... Oh yes, I remember that stuff. Joking aside, since I divorced from #2 wife and have now settled in beautiful Canadia with #3 (and last) my hair has started growing back! My previously large bald patch has reduced to less than half of it's former size and I now have a horseshoe of dark hair between the grey and the skin. I still buzz-cut the lot because that's how I like it. |

FWIW I prefer older men with long hair and beards, I can't explain why, it could just be a Jesus fetish adopted in childhood. I am glad that when someone above wrote "who's that hippy?" That I didn't reply with my guess of the ghost of Philip Seymour Hoffman. |

Hoffman? As in Abby? Or is that Abby Normal? A few people have said that they thought I was Abby Normal; but I cut my hair length down back in the mid 80s. |
