I read about this before it was posted to this forum so, yes, I read the article. I know she's not "being entirely serious". Not the point. It's not clever, it's based on the false premise that a sperm cell is a human being, as a fetus is. Her "joke", therefore, falls flat. All she's bringing to the public's attention is her ignorance, whether of basic biology, or of how to craft a humorous anecdote.
Intolerance and absolutism didn't start with Marx. He stole the tricks and methods from everyone.
Like Bruce Lee and his synthesis of the martial arts.
The prime difference is the Progressive/Revolutionary creed is deliberately evil. Deliberately dishonest.
But Marx didn't invent this stuff. He stole it.
So no matter your position on abortion, you should be able to see that the "sex is only for procreation" propaganda combined with "no prevention of pregnancy" equals unwanted children leading to killing the babies.
Uptight sexual control, the old fat priests raping children while they forbid sex, and contraception, cause unwanted pregnancy, increasing the demand for abortion. Intolerant dictatorial hypocrisy psychological control methods.
You forbid abortion & contraception in the same breath and you lost my suspension of disbelief.
That extreme doctrine is exactly what is being parodied by the Texan Lady.
Oh I'll bet you she's probably basing the rest of her ideology on the same deliberate dishonest evil as Obama, religious Marxism. I bet she's anti-civil rights & supports sturm troopers kicking your doors down to take your property.
But she's quite clever on this. Give the devil her due.
The Clintons specialized in "drip drip drip" releasing small parts of their crimes ( that they knew would cone out ) so that by the time the truth was out everyone was tired of the complaints and ignored it all.
Obama always leaked his crimes Friday after the evening news. Thus he had all weekend to send minions to lie for him and erase his war crimes or treason or calls to break the laws of the land. ( race riots, send children across the border, start wars, etc. )
Admire the cleverness. Notice the dishonesty. Learn from them.
And oppose them as your beliefs dictate, with open eyes and not ignorant self delusion.
That extreme doctrine is exactly what is being parodied by the Texan Lady.
Two problems there. 1) She isn't protesting what she is parodying. Why do a parody of something that is unrelated to your cause? 2) What is being parodied, is itself a parody of real life. Those extreme doctrines don't actually exist in real life in TX.
So you have a parody of a parody that is unrelated to your cause. Sure some of those laws are officially on the books. Care to guess how they got on the books? I would bet many were a parody of what they saw as immoral actions.
Now if this lady wrote something that was a parody of current or proposed abortion laws, I could possibly see her point. As it is, all I see is a lady who seems disconnected from reality. Of course, that probably helps one be pro-abortion.
Not at all. But she's being delusional? No. She's selling to her audience. She doesn't need to believe her own schtick to sell her soap.
You are not her base, her target audience. Is her entire base delusional? Sure!
Why do a parody of something that is unrelated to your cause? Of course it's related. Religious based sex hangups. ( never mind one of those hangups is against killing children )
Besides, Bringing in the irrelevant is classic salesmanship.
What is being parodied, is itself a parody of real life. Those extreme doctrines don't actually exist in real life in TX. Seriously? Now who's in denial? Those exact doctrines are spoken right down the street at that building with the spire. Probably the fanciest building with a spire hiding the new cell phone tower. ( You may live in a town with no Catholic Churches, in which case, I can see why you'd think that, besides, some Protestant churches have copied or have similar doctrine ) Most of the modern, aka, progressive churches, just don't talk about that doctrine. ( because they ignore it and don't want to seem "backwards" )
I would bet many were a parody of what they saw as immoral actions.
Oh, no. Deadly serious uptight busybodies. Ironically, most "church pushed" laws on gambling, prostitution, liquor, drugs, etc. were also supported with words and bribes by the local Mob bosses.
Can't make money on illegal activity if it's not illegal, right? Remember the Columbian Drug Lord who rented the Lincoln Bedroom? He didn't bribe Bill to make Cocaine legal, he Bribed him to keep his monopoly.
Of course, that probably helps one be pro-abortion. And Pro-Hillary, etc. Yep!
I'm pointing out that her sales pitch is quite clever and will sell great in the salons of Houston, or wherever "her people" hang out and complain about us peasants.
Feel free to be offended, ( although that won't gain you any points, I feel free to be offended too ) but just because you won't drink the koolaid, doesn't mean the guy in the pitcher suit isn't doing a good job of selling it.

My bad. I should have said "legal doctrines". We are having a discussion about "laws".
Of course it's related. Religious based sex hangups. ( never mind one of those hangups is against killing children )
Well... To me, not killing children isn't really a "sex" hangup. While my religious beliefs happen to agree with not killing children, that wouldn't be my go to argument against killing children when it comes to laws on the subject. I guess YMMV.

While I don't agree with her, my point is her disconnect with reality. Of course, you make a valid point about the "selling". Sales is largely based on emotion. And sex. Why would Carl Jr. tie eating burgers to sex? Not because it has anything to do with reality. Simply because it works!
Let's just drop a GBU-28 where the Dear Leader (NK's, not our old one) is likely to be, and watch the KPA scramble to prop up a new god-king. Oh, heck, they've probably got two or three already lined up. Never mind.
Back on topic... I think I do understand (sort of anyway) this wing bat's logic. The left has lost any rational discussion on the abortion topic. For years they pointed toward "science". I'm not sure how science was ever supposed to support killing of children, but the more science has learned about the process, the worse it gets for the left. It's just difficult to give rational support for what is little more than a convenience killing.
The solution is to jump to an absurd leap of logic that even when refuted, does nothing to refute the issue at hand. Is it wrong to try to ban masturbation? Sure! You win! The real topic doesn't get refuted though. Hopefuly (for the left) the anti-abortion folks feel like they've won a battle and are placated for a wile. It's the best logical argument they have left. It's nothing but obfuscation of the real issue, which is horrendously wrong. How wrong? The left will happily have you arrested for disturbing unborn turtles or eagles. Tear an unborn human to pieces though, and that's suddenly a "right". They have no choice but to obfuscate the issue.
Other than the above, I simply can't fathom the false logic being used in their connection of masturbation and abortion. The "uptight religious" folks have a much better argument regarding masturbation and creating a life. I don't agree with that reasoning, but at least I can follow it.
So is it a joke? Not at all. It's a real attempt to take your attention away from the worst man made holocaust the world has ever witnessed.
Actually, no. Likely successor types have been murdered. You would need to convince a general to take power. The others would have to agree..... or die.
Then China, who does NOT want a unified free Korea would over run the place like in my father's day.
You have to be willing to take out the central Party in China to be effective in Korea. How many billion are You ready to kill? China's leaders are willing to kill All.
Not all the successors have been murdered, just the ones the Dear Leader suspected. They can pick a peasant off the street, and convince the huddled masses that he's the Dear Leader god-king reborn. That's effectively what they did with the last one, except they picked a direct male descendant.
Sifo, when did you start to expect logic? That's not in there, at all.
It's pure emotional appeal. In the OP case the appeal is the fun in seeing your "enemies" language used against them.
Pure emotion. Logic is not taught in schools, at any level I can see.
Ask any college student who Alfred Korzybski was. ( there HAVE to be someone taking logic... doesn't there? ) And while you are at it, ask them what "The map is not the territory" means. ( it means that the basis for Marxist argument is dead, flat, stinking wrong. )
The lack of logic, science, and Platonic thought is especially ironic since Korzybski is famed for one of the most applicable quotes for our modern era.
"There are two ways to slide easily through life: to believe everything or to doubt everything; both ways save us from thinking."
