So, Jennifer and I are going to Washington DC for vacation in may(flying so not much motorcycle riding unless we snag Chili's for an afternoon or something). Also thinking about jumping the train while we are there and heading to New York for a night or 2(it's just a thought, but we are sooo close). We have 4 full days and 5 full nights as well as about half a day the first day we show up. Obviously looking for things to do during the day, and must see places! BUUUuuuuttt we most definitely can not forget the night life! Still in the process of figuring out places to stay etc. Of course we plan to hang out with Graham while we are in DC as well! What is worth seeing in that time? The Air and Space museum in DC is already on my list. |

The Air and Space museum in DC is already on my list. I haven't been to the one in DC, but Graham and I hit the one by Dulles when I was in DC last. A colleague had gone to the one in DC and his mouth dropped when I showed him the pictures of what was at the one by Dulles. So I'd say hit both! Also, let me know what else you find interesting in and around DC. |

YES the air and space museum is very much a great memory of mine. What is that new place that house the space shuttle in? is that the Dulles thing you guys are talking about? |

Yup, Dulles air and space. I like it much better than the one on the mall. SR71 is there and while we were standing around gawking at it some guy comes up and starts telling us things that aren't in the brochure...Turns out he flew the things for a living, and Dulles tries to do that for a lot of the stuff they have. The one on the mall is very cool but I'd make and have made a special trip for the one in Dulles. |

Wait. Make that 4 Buells with tags. I pulled the M2L's tag years ago since I ride it so rarely...forgot about that. Regardless...if you feel like a ride, just let me know |

Just let me know. Got spare gear as well, even if it's not a perfect fit should get you through an afternoon jaunt. Weather is FINALLY warming up and my grass is turning green, so spring must not be a myth... |

For the Air/Space museums, the one in Dulles is better in my opinion. If you don't have enough time see that one. There use to be a shuttle bus that goes from one to the other, but I don't know if that is still going on. The Washington Monument is closed so you miss out on that view. The next best observation tower in town is at the Trump International Hotel. Nightlife? There is plenty of stuff to do in DC, but just 12 miles south they recently opened the MGM Hotel/Casino at National Harbor and there is a huge ferris wheel that also provides a very nice view. If you like sports you will have plenty of options, baseball, soccer, arena football, hopefully playoff hockey/basketball. If you are here during Memorial Day weekend don't miss out on Rolling Thunder. Have fun! (Message edited by josequinones on April 08, 2017) |

We found tickets for $98 a person round trip so didnt think that was bad. We would stay atleast a night in ny if not 2. I like allot of things. Architecture is one. Odd quirky spots to visit. Neat local life... Plan to wander into Chinatown as well. She's also very outdoorsy so loves parks and things like that. |

If you and she are outdoorsy/history people, you won't be far (about an hour) from Gettysburg. My house is less than 20 minutes from the battlefields. |

- Architecture is one. - Wander SoHo, NoHo and Brooklyn Heights. Pay particular attention to the lobbies of buildings. Do not miss the New York Public Library. You'll recognize it immediately from movies like The Thomas Crown Affair.
- Odd quirky spots to visit. - That'd be the East Village. To get away from the crowds of tourists . . hit "alphabet city" . . Avenue A, Avenue B and Avenue C.
- Neat local life... Could be music or art. I learn towards the Planetarium, Natural History Museum and . . well, The Met . . why pass on one of the greatest in the world.
- Chinatown as well.
- She's also very outdoorsy so loves parks - Your timing is perfect. Central Park and Riverside Park have just exploded into a blossoming glory of color.

Well, the trip is getting close! we booked an AirBnB in downtown SoHo! we land in dc on the wednesday the 10th of may and go right to the train station(via a ride from Graham!) to travel to new york. stay there wed night, thurs night and travel back mid day friday. Then back to DC for the weekend to hang out with Graham and friends to do some exploring. there is sooo much to see in both places. we wont even scratch the surface. It is going to take me a bit to get used to the price for a drink out that way... DAMN! no body seems to think anything of double digit prices for a drink... lol. i could buy a few for that at home! Luckily neither of us drinks much in quantity. |
