RIP Chuck my favorite song of his Too Much Monkey Business. Went to see him in 1963 in The Dick Clark Caravan of Stars on my Cushman scooter with a girl friend 50 mls. away in Syr.
Ummm- Hey Court, can we haz you see about mebbe Eric or somebody correcting the thread title??
I'm beginning to have a hard time convincing my sweetie to go to any given concert... she's older than me, yes, we're losing some of the greatest musicians in many genres. There ARE some very good young'uns, gotta look for them. DO support live music!!
Memories. "My Ding-A-Ling" was banned in the school I attended at the beginning of 6th grade. I had it on cassette and hid a tape player in my locker with it. In between classes I would play it with a small crowd gathered. We were such rebels. I was only there for 2 weeks.
That was the only single Chuck released that went to number 1.
Good stuff, RD! I've still got about every playback device known except reel-to-reel... even have a Shemp Meditation Tape I ordered from WFMU, back when they offered TONS of wacky stuff for fundraising.
Pardon the hijack. It's been interesting reading on the interwebz all of the HUUUGE musicians who've lamented the loss of Berry. The pics I've seen of him with all of them look to be filled with pure JOY.
