Read this today about the "super bloom" that's going on out in the deserts... we've got a few weeks yet here in Appalachia to go. Things started VERY early here, then, DANG if we didn't get another one or two cold shots of winter AGAIN. Hopefully it'll be getting back to warmer again next week- gotta start working on the yard and garden! Anyhoo, for those on the other side of the continent, post up pics and links of this rare "superbloom" if ya can- it'd be super cool. I work with a kid who's going into plant science and forestry, I'll have to let him know! Court- after loving all your great photography over the years, too bad you're not out there instead of dealing with all that East Coast snow... http://www.npr.org/2017/03/17/520496783/california -deserts-in-super-bloom-thanks-to-a-wet-winter |

I have lived through this phenomenon. It is in fact stunningly beautiful. Unfortunately, the end result is a crazy fire season followed by another crazy flash flood season. Sprinkle liberally with earthquakes and you got yourself a Golden State! So, let's see some pics before it goes up in smoke! |

the traffic is a nightmare...here's a report from the local news station...Borrego Springs can't handle the traffic... http://www.cbs8.com/story/34945622/big-crowds-in-s earch-of-borrego-springs-bloom-prompts-traffic-adv isory gonna rain this week and maybe this week end...if the rain doesn't get you... a cager who doesn't know how to drive in the rain will...some of the best motorcycle roads in SD county (S22 (aka Montezuma Grade) and SR 78 thru Julian to Yaqui Pass Rd) lead you down to Boreggo Springs/Anza-Boreggo desert. If you make it down there don't forget to view the full size and giant metal sculptures of Galleta Meadows. http://www.abdnha.org/borrego-springs-sculptures-o f-ricardo-breceda.htm |

That is spectacular ! . . .one of nature's true wonders. Having ridden Buells in 44 states I am irrevocably convinced that there are no "bad" places . . . . Temps went up here today and I went for a walk with a new camera acquired on Saturday. Haven't read the manual yet . . but it looks fun. We still have snow on the ground . . and, even with moderate temps the next several days, we'll have it for a week or so . . then it is going to be spectacular here in the Valley. Thanks for the photos of the desert! Here's a peek out the front door today . . .

That last one is splendid with the radiation thrown in. |

I'd needed a lawn chair and a glass of Bourbon on the rocks for that last one. Thank you Court. |
