So, the sun still set just fine. I am now convinced we don't need the ones that have been let in recently. Let's try a year with out.

Apparently no one know the difference between immigrants and illegal immigrants.

There is and isn't a difference. If Big O said that the ones that were not allowed to come in were now allowed, they could be one and the same. This because they would be legal to the enforcers while at the same time lying to the enforcers making their legality null and void.

Funny thing, I have had more than one run in with these fine 'illegal' folks. A couple of years ago one of the "O's" qualified benefit recipients fell asleep on his way to his un-reportable job crashing through my fence sliding his car way down into my yard. There was a couple of inches of fresh snow on the ground that day, so tracks were evident.

I got out of bed to go to work to find my fence splattered and an abandoned car sitting in my yard. Sheriff Deputy comes out to investigate. He checked tracks, no one went any where but back up to the road. He checked VIN found car registration questionable. Since I own a repair shop he told me to just impound the car.

Just as officer was getting into his car to leave a car pulls in my driveway with an obese white woman driving and a little Hispanic male passenger. They were committed to my driveway and had totally scared looks as they realized they just pulled up the the back of a county cruiser.

They put their car in reverse to back out, the deputy pulled his gun and yelled "don't even make me chase you!". Wisely they stopped. By then I was grinning. They both played dumb making like they could not speak any English, the deputy said watch this. He started commanding them to get out of the car in perfect Spanish. It was awesome.

The guy lied out his ass telling the officer how he tried to knock on my door to report the accident. The officer lead him in cuffs around the yard explaining to him that it was odd that not a single foot print went anywhere but up to the road.

Anyhow they had to fix my fence and pay an impound fee before the car could leave.

On to today's revelation. My annual "2017" year sticker, on my registration plate was stolen the other day. Officer told me it is a common practice for illegals because they cannot get a proper title or registration, so they just steal the stickers to upgrade their stolen plates.

There was another incident where my fishing gear and a chain saw had been stolen, all good brand name stuff, but I had had it so long I could not come up with serial numbers. They had video of a Hispanic male pawning the stuff. I could not retrieve it without the numbers.

Yeah, go "O".....and keep on going!

The stupid one day boycotts are pointless. Even if someone did participate in them, all it would do is shift purchasing to the day before or the day after.

It is estimated that there are around 11 million illegals in the US, and supposedly 318 million total, that means illegals make up around 3.4% of the population. Even if all 11 million stayed home, would you really notice 3% less people?

Frank,

That 11 million estimate is based on census reporting. It's not very reliable due to illegals being hesitant to confess their status to the govt. D'uh.

More rigorous estimate by economists put the figure at 20 to 30 million or more.

If you look at actual deportation rates (not counting the new turned-away-at-the-border cases that were counted under Obama as deportations), Clinton admin and Bush 43 admin together deported roughly 20 million. Obama deported just 2 million, and he arguably let a BUNCH more in. Recall the "unaccompanied minors" who were quickly resettled all over the country?

I'd be surprised if we don't have 30 million now.

My previous employer seemed to like Mexicans. they worked dilligently for long hours in the bitter cold and the withering heat. Everyone had the correct paperwork on file of course, but as Luis mentioned in passing, "After you walk across the desert for 30 days without food or water, even these work conditions are easy."

A few years ago I sold a 2002 Mustang GT to a Salvadoran who worked across the street. He didn't speak a word of English so his boss translated for him. He had $12000 cash in his pocket. A couple years later the toll authority called to ask me why my car was abandoned on the tunnel thruway. So ... never registered it and no doubt stolen tags and no insurance for all that time. And .. they could afford to walk away from a nice car like that when I had sold it because I couldn't afford it anymore.

I have nothing against immigrants. My maternal grandparents were immigrants. I do have a problem with illegal immigrants, however. I have a few friends who are immigrants from other countries (one's a Canadian), and they also have a problem with illegals.
The issue is one of legality, not of people who have come here from other places.

+1,000,000.

Reality is, we're ALL immigrants from one time or another.

The issue is the illegals. And that's what they are - ILLEGAL. Not "undocumented" or any of that crap.

Look at the meme thread, there's a pic there that shows even MEXICO has harsher punishments for illegals than we do here in the US.

He was speaking on a financial topic in yesterdays press conference, but I think it can apply to immigration policy as well - P45 said a number of times "it's time for the US to have *fair* deals with other countries; there are a lot of countries who have been taking advantage of us and that has to stop."

Been reading some of the 'A Day Without Immigrants' coverage, a lot of it seems to be focused on how many Mc Donalds are closed due to the protest. My first thought was not look at the impact of the demonstration on society, but rather to consider how many immigrants (rather than Americans) were employed by Mc Donalds.

I can't remember which comedian said this but he said that we don't mind people coming into our country, just please sign the guest book on the way in!

They just need to have a huge "undocumented worker" protest. Once they are all there surround them and ship them back. We had operation Wetback many years ago yet nobody complained back then!

They should take it a step further.

Go after the corporations (like McD's) who had a massive showing (no-show?) for the "event". Make THEM pay for hiring all these illegals.

Weekly.

You write a paycheck to an illegal? Write one to the government, too. Think of it as a "matching contribution".

100% of what the illegal is being paid - send it to the fed. With the full knowledge that those funds will be used to pay for the operations....to send those illegals back home.

For good.

If you're not going to enter the country the right way...you don't get to enter at all.

As stated, the problem is that with all the invasive government controls, I don't know how you can be an illegal immigrant and not commit crime after crime day after day.

So to want to turn a blind eye to illegal immigration, you either have to suddenly have become a "small weak central government" believer, or you have to say "I favor not prosecuting identity theft, tax fraud, and benefits theft". Which is a whole 'nother thing.

I have friends that have worked through the legal immigration things. It was a massive PITA for them. I have other friends here on work visa, also a good chunk of work.

It feels unfair to them to make them work so hard to follow the rules, then just ignore the rules for others.

Both unfair...and ILLEGAL.

This is for Vern. I grew up in a migrant worker family, so I spent my early years in orange groves, peach, apple, plum, etc, etc orchards, and vegetable fields of all sort. We had a permanent home here in Florida, but traveled north in the summer.

Most of the people we worked around were Mexican. It was a whole different world then. The families were ruled by a Don. If anybody did anything wrong, they didn't worry about cops or immigration. They would be sent back to Mexico, never to return.

Those were some family oriented, wonderful, hard working people. Times have sure changed.

We bundle up our illegals and lock them away on a tropical island with free board and lodgings until they sew their lips together.
Some think they should sew the other end up for a more convincing gesture. FEMA Au fashion.

This is how it is in the tropical love-land if you want to enter.

Victor Davis Hanson has written many editorials about the illegal immigration crisis in California. A Historian, he brings a broad perspective to the issue, plus as a farmer who's property has been repeatedly stolen by illegals, with the police refusing to bother themselves about the shack collections and rising crime... has a personal interest in the matter that Beyonce has zero knowledge of.

Kinda my thinking . . . unless it somehow got translated to them as "a day without responsibility".

Simple . . basic . . . responsibility . . .is universal.

If I don't show for work . . . there are consequences.

This will be a valuable lesson that they can thank the American people for teaching them.

As usual, I think they were played by a cynical Democratic leftist party.

It was a win for the party. Illegals get spun up to assert rights they don't have, and then get justifiably fired as a result, and the Democrats (who risked nothing) have their next theatrical outrage to milk for attention.

So sorry about you losing your job and all, but it's for the greater good you see.

Let's see, trained political agitators from Soros & Obama.

Organized national strikes, General strikes, based on ethnic and economic divisions.

Yep, this looks familiar.

I directly supported immigrants. Had Thai lunch and Japanese for dinner. Both establishments owned and operated by wonderful immigrant families.
