The entitlement brigade is loose on CL. I am a fairly frequent flyer selling off excess vehicles on the sight. When i have a. nice one on there, over $20k people have become dependent on these fallible car fax reports. My credit union has their own brand that I had to pay for through them to get my loan at a lowered interest rate. I got a CarFax report to appease an who went on and on that he would not even come look at the car with out it. Then a couple more so I caved and got it. Then didn't even show up. Skip to today..... New requiring ME to pay for and get a title report from HIS bank so that HE can get a loan. WTF! Then it got stupid. When I explained that I have a report in hand that I would send to him he came back with" I don't think you understand. You need to get this title search from my bank so that I can get a loan on the car". But the idiot has not even looked at the car in person or test driven it, nothing but Internet. chatter. I had fo explain that I paid for my own to get a lower interest rate. He reiterated that I must do this with his bank's company or he will not come look at the car. How about F off there sunshine! Go find another sap! This is not the first time. Entitlement or scam..... What do you think? I think it is a scam to get title information to possibly do an end around title theft. |

Banks will loan on a VIN and on photos. They use those to verify the vehicle is real, then they go to nadaguides.com to verify values where they will loan a percentage of the wholesale number (sometimes they will loan over 100% of wholesale, all depends on model and condition). "You have to go through my bank"? CLICK. Hang up. THEY have to go through their bank, not you. Selling $100k+ RV's, I never had to provide more than a full VIN, some exterior and interior photos, and odometer reading. But...it's CL. Lowest common denominator. What you need to do is get close with a local dealer who has a carfax account - they can do a certain number of free pulls a month, depends how they have their account set up. Lots of times if they have a slow month, they won't have an issue running yours for you. Of course...carfax is only good for what's REPORTED...but you can't tell the buying morons that, carfax's advertising has 'em snowed completely. |

I found a cabinet for little money that was a pickers dream. My sister-n-law has a furniture store and consignment shop and my wife works there. I've been paying attention. I listed it on CL. Someone contacts me. i respond. Then nothing for a week. Then a will you take x amount less? I reply,"Yes, if you pick it up in one hour". I was heading to the store 300 miles away and was taking it there. The person writes back that they don't like my attitude and to just forget it. hmmmm, really? I took it to Indy. My wife took it to our house because she wants to keep it. CL has a lot of people that think you owe it to them. I don't waste as much time on them as I used to. The person that wants it will tell you they have your asking price in cash and send you their phone number. I pretty much ignore all but that person now. |

The person writes back that they don't like my attitude and to just forget it. hmmmm, really? Should've written them back saying "I didn't want to sell to you anyway, you got bad breath!" and see what kind of response you'd get. |

Craigslist is a good place to cast a wide net for free. But geesh can it be a chore. |

Gotta still be able to read books. Why? Everyone gets a participation trophy anyway, so why bother doing the work? |

Serious entitlement issues afflict a large portion of our population. My wife wanted to be nice and give away baby stuff that our twins outgrew. She put out an ad and got a response. Response was "I need that but I can't pick it up due to lack of car" OK next town over, no big deal, she is needy afterall, right? My wife gets over there, carries it up the stairs to the apartment and hands it over. One the way out, a man pulls in driving a F$%^ CADDY and goes right in! I think it was a baby swing or a little bathtub. like $19.95 at walmart type of thing!! |

When I was moving last summer CL did help me get rid of some stuff I really didn't want to move across 3 states. One was a foosball table that I let go at a great price. I had a guy from about 200 miles away who was going to come to look at it once the rain stopped in a few days. Meanwhile someone came with a covered pick up, paid the asking price in cash, helped me get it out of the basement, packed it in the truck as was off with a handshake. So I called the first guy back to make sure he doesn't do something stupid, like drive 200 miles without calling first, and he goes ballistic on my "backing out of a deal"! I miss the days when you could slam a phone down with authority. Selling vehicles has become a PITA on CL. Full of scammers and low balling dealers. |

Brankin, I try to just cut my loss at the earliest possible moment. There was a day when the front plate on my truck said sinister. Twisted was all the way through the roots. I've learned that a soft smile is easier to wear. Better than the sparks that came off the old grin. Doesn't mean I didn't want to kick her in the groin. I just can't fix all the stupid. CL is a breeding ground for stupid. |
