Sad that such an amazing builder like Erik and amazing bikes, considering what he has done, can't seem to get a foothold. Not sexy enough or doesn't have the name appeal of other companies. Maybe a fire sale purchase in the near future. Warranty and parts? Still riding my 04 XB12S. |

The last couple of years have been an EXTREMELY tough market in the motorcycle industry. Things are very lean right now. Sorry to see Erik and his crew going through this once again. |

We can't say they didn't do everything they could to give it a go. Such a shame, such a great company with such great products. |

Gonna be damn near impossible to ever get the trust of the public to ever try again with 3 shut downs in the books.... (Message edited by badlionsfan on January 26, 2017) |

It's for real. I know one of the employees and I sent him a text, "Is it true?" He just replied "Yes, EBR has ceased production" I'm really at a loss for words It blows doesn't nearly go far enough. |

Heartbreaking news. This really came out the blue. I agree with Badlionsfan, this will probably nail the coffin shut for EBR in regards to consumer and dealer trust. Such a shame. I hear conflicting arguments, one being motorcycle sales are great, and the other being no one is spending their disposable incomes (if they have one at all). President Trump, make the motorcycle industry great again! |

Damn it! I was planning on buying a new RX this year. Without future parts, this seems like a bad idea now. |

I retired January 2nd and planned to buy an SX after we sell our house in the next couple of months. So much for my retirement present. |

Very sad and depressing. I am shocked. I really thought they were going to be able to coast along slowly for a lot longer and LAP was going to allow/facilitate that. This SUX. |

I wonder how many 2016/2017 bikes are available for sale? |

Did any Black Lightnings get made other than the demo bike? I'm still in shock over the news, but that bike really spoke to me. I wonder if one is available? I also wonder if I can come up with enough cash for a deposit so I can get a loan. I'm seriously questioning whether I'm nuts for considering a bike that's going out of production or if it's just infatuation. |

Interesting commentary at motorcycle.com. I completely read past that first line they mention from the press release: http://www.motorcycle.com/features/cant-catch-a-br eak-ebr-announces-its-closure-again.html |

hope I can still get the Corbin for my SX. I wonder why they are doing the preorder on the seats if they are shutting down? |

This news saddens me greatly. I want nothing but good things for Buell and his team. I don't think it's nuts. That thing is absolutely badass. Wouldn't this be a great time to get one during one of the upcoming fire sales? |

Getting parts for an EBR will be next to impossible to get after them closing down this time. I was hoping to toss my leg over an AX someday to see if if would give me the same feeling that my Uly does! Now I'm not even bothering to go to the Chicago IMS this year. I live only 18 miles from Woodstock where they sell Triumphs and I have already demoed the T120. May have one of those someday! But Erik made the best dam motorcycle ever made and I still have my faithful Ulysses! |

I really wish they'd had the resources to develop a smaller powertrain. I love the RX/SX. I love the look. I have no doubt the ergos are outstanding. But...I know better than to throw my leg over 184 hp. I don't have the self control to resist, nor do I have the skills to properly utilize. I get in far enough over my head on my CR. I think if they had been able to develop a true 600cc competitor - they already have the chassis and weight and handling, just needed the lowered power level, lowered insurance tier, and lowered price point - we might not have this thread right now. Such a shame. Erik is truly a pioneer, and he really is once of the nicest, kindest human beings I've had the pleasure of meeting. I wish him and all the elves nothing but the best for the future. |

For a dealer to go through the cost of bringing in a new brand they need a company that is stable and was a good return on there investment. Granted EBR cost of start up for a dealer is only around 10k for mandatory inventory and tools isn't that bad but that doesn't include the cost or carrying cost of the motor cycles and marketing. The last time they went under they cost there dealers tens of thousands of dollars. This makes new protectional dealers a little nerves about taking them on. I looked into having our dealership carrying EBR motorcycles but couldn't make the numbers add up. |
