I've got 4 ratchet tie downs that I bought from U-Haul in Illinois. They held the bike just fine on the trip from Illinois to Cincinnati. |

Based on the wild turn this "Crustys Travels" thread has taken, It's probably stuffed with Styrofoam BBQ takeaway containers to keep the bike from clunking around the corners. |

Do we have an estimated time line for hand-offs? It's about a 14 hour drive from Cincy to Hudson, just wondering if I'm meeting for lunch on Saturday or a late dinner on Friday. |

I'm hoping to hand off between 2 and 3 on Friday. Crusty is going to stay at Jon's house Friday night and continue the journey on Saturday morning. That's all I know for now. I'll let the next leg work out what they are doing and when |

Damnut, meeting Froggy about 10 miles east of Scranton at about 11 AM on Sat. the frog estimates 2 1/2 hrs or so to lunch from our meet point. I think HooDoo's was the choice, but confirm with the frogman. Wish that q wasn't quite so far from my end! |

What I meant is, does that trailer have tie down points in the floor? Every time I've rented a Uhaul box trailer, it was a smooth aluminum floor with no d-rings or any other way to tie things down. Be prepared to drill holes and install eye bolts or something. It isn't hard and only takes a little while. |

What I meant is, does that trailer have tie down points in the floor? Yep, made them take me out to the lot and show me before we completed the rental paperwork |

Wheel chock? Or wedge a couple of 2 x 8 on either side of front tire,or screw 'em to the floor |

the deck is aluminum, so no deck screws. We will strap the shit out of it and hope for the best. Its a enclosed trailer so if we don't open it again until we get Crusty home... we can blame Damnut if it has fallen over |

Did somebody say lunch meet up at HooDoo's Saturday afternoon? Where's Jamie, he's got to get on the stick here. Actually, I don't know if I can make it, but that is an interesting concept. I must have driven by that place a couple of times last month during work and didn't give it a second thought. Now I have to put it on the "must try" list. If Damnut has a problem, I could bring the S-10 with enough heads up. |

I've relied on bran in the past for a tow, but this takes it to a whole new level. Badweb kicks arse. |

I just saw this on Mark's Facebook page. I'm too lazy to follow read all this... I support the pinwall cycle engine and we'll swap the motor out at my shop. On the house for the publicity and a good review! |

How rude of you to break down and need help around Cincinnati while I was off in Texas. Please plan your failures more thoughtfully next time, geesh. So are you already off towards Columbus? Good luck! Thanks Wolf, you are awesome! |

My tow vehicle is no way as comfortable as those two or even Froggy's ride. I have a little less legroom but get way better gas mileage LOL

There’s No Place Like Home… I have to be brief; I’m halfway home in the “Crusty Relay”. Mark (Wolfridgerider) picked me and the Roadster up this morning at David’s house, and we were on the road by 8:30. He took me to Bedford, PA where we transferred the trailer to Jon’s (Nittany XT’s) truck. I’m now sitting in Jon’s living room. I’ll spend the night here, then tomorrow, Jon will drive me to Scranton, where Froggy will be the third leg of the relay. I’m still amazed and pretty much dumbfounded by this; it’s happening, but I feel like Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz. I’m caught in the center of a whirlwind that’s spinning all around me. I have no control of it, but it isn’t doing me any harm. In fact, not only is it helping me, but it’s enabling a whole bunch of exceptional people to get the satisfaction that comes from helping somebody in need. I appreciate everything everybody’s doing for me, and now, I’m wracking my brain on how I’m going to be able to pay it forward. The opportunity will arise, I’m sure. Well; I don’t want to be rude to my hosts, so I’ll end this here. I’ll post more tomorrow after I’m back in Hudson. |
