I doubt that the service made him a better shot. He wasn't much of a shot at all. How many shots did it take him to maim most of his targets. He was just another worthless murderer. Had he been a real sniper, the death count would be very high. Waste of skin. Took 5 years to make private first class. I made staff sergeant in under 4 with an article 15 in my file. Sounds like someone messed up and gave him an honorable discharge. |

The last thing the military needs is a bunch of people swelling the lower enlisted ranks who don't want to be there. It's not a baby sitting service. It takes a lot of money to train soldiers. 2YOs are a waste of money. |

Xdigitalx, That plan works in a nation that teaches civics and citizenship. Since those are considered swear words by the Education Elites, it would fail miserably here. Might have worked in the 1950's if there had been a real purge of Soviet influence at the highest levels, instead of wasting time picking on the "Communist" screen writers. Today, the "Starship Troopers" solution may be a workable path. It would take a counter-revolution that seems unlikely. It's sad when the best solution to awful leaders in D.C. might be the city getting nuked by Iran. ( Not the Soviets, they would trash far more than symbolic targets ) The hard part with that horrible scenario is convincing the Ayatollahs to nuke their allies in D.C. instead of NYC which is far more likely, and despite the complaints of the Upstaters far worse for the country. Not a desirable path. |

I just read that the rifle used in Dallas was a SKS, not the sooper deadly AR-47. This must be disappointing to those that want to focus on the AR (Assault Rifle). I wonder if he bothered to use a scary black one? |

I made staff sergeant in under 4 with an article 15 in my file. I like it. I did the same but without the article 15. I had my first look at 7 this year but for some reason didn't make the list... not happy about that (maybe because I'm a white male??? just maybe?). Unless the guy was infantry, there's not a very good chance of him having spent much time at the range (and even if he had time on the range, that doesn't mean he was well trained or a good shot. I know lots of service members who are embarassing to shoot with) I would not call him a sniper, unless he graduated an army sniper course. I've had some good training on the M24 and I know I can reach out and touch somebody, but I'm not a sniper. |

What do kids in Israel do after high school? I mean something like that. But better. I personally would like to see more kids in military, they can get free tuition for college. All those kids complaining about paying too much for, and others want free college education. Sure they may have it... Of course but would would also eliminate any possibility of draft for anyone under 21. Unlikely a draft would happen anyways. If we don't lean towards that direction ...we will be pushed the other way hard... And Matt Damon will become president. |

Gaesati, I appreciate your comments very much. Keep them coming! "If the answers are unpleasant then the nation has a problem." We agree, and so do most Americans. So that is not really an issue of debate. The heated debate is about the cause(s) of and the solution(s) to the problem. One side says shame whitey, blame police, and impose more big-brother nanny-state and race-based policies. The other side says uphold the rule of law, and eliminate the dehumanizing, demoralizing big-brother nanny-state policies that promote dependence upon government while breeding anger, resentment, and hatred. Three pertinent statistics; note that the first two hold across racial lines: 1) 70% of violent crime in America is perpetrated by recidivists. 2) 70% of felons in prison in America were raised in broken homes. 3) There are over a million felons serving time in American prisons. Stop essentially telling people that they're better off having their babies killed before they're born. That is nothing but incredibly dehumanizing and demoralizing. It breeds anger and resentment leading to hatred. Stop promoting broken families by subsidizing them, actually paying mothers to ditch the father of their baby/babies. That is nothing but demoralizing for both parents and destructive for the children, and it breeds anger and resentment. Remember that statistic that 70% of felons in our prisons were raised in a broken home? Stop teaching (indoctrinating) people that covetousness is good, that they need not work hard because they are entitled to be supported by others. That is demoralizing and breeds self-loathing leading to anger and resentment. Stop viewing social issues primarily through the lens of race. That promotes nothing good and much that is evil. But instead of stopping all the above, we're doing the opposite, ramping it up. The result of the dehumanizing, demoralizing, anti-family policies has been to disproportionately decimate the family among lower income inner city people while creating a demoralized and dehumanized culture of covetousness, resentment, and anger. Life becomes very cheap. Was this destruction of the people by design? One might argue that initially no,bit was just the unforeseen consequences of ignorant and foolish policies rooted in good intention at best, or craven partisan political strategy at worst. But after half a century of repeated unmitigated failure, people who continue to support such policies must be painted rightly as party to the evil. The wrong side is prevailing and the consequences are entirely predictable. When we prohibited recognition of God in our public schools, all this was predictable. We now teach supremacy of self. From there it's far too easy to justify just about anything. Destroy faith and family while promoting immorality as good, the very core of Soviet subversion strategy. They helped foster it, we embraced it. (Message edited by Blake on July 10, 2016) |

From http://www.bookwormroom.com/2016/07/08/black-lives -dont-matter/ “Yes, there is racism in America. Yes, there are racist cops and just plain bad or stupid cops. But here’s the deal: At some point, the black community has to take responsibility for itself. It’s not up to the cops, good or bad, to stop you from aborting blacks, killing blacks, and consigning future generations of blacks (those who escape abortion) to lifetimes of poverty. You need to make the change. You need to take advantage of educational opportunities. You need to stay away from drugs. You need to get married before starting a family. And you need to stop killing each other. And here’s a thought to chew on: When you stop engaging in these suicidal behaviors, you might find that you’re on the receiving end of fewer behaviors that you claim are racist.” The first paragraph is good, too. |

Pulled this off a yahoo response to some article months ago...don't know who the author is but it pretty much sums it up. Oh and if you don't get it....it's satirical rhetoric. WHITENESS I take all the Blame... My incredible Whiteness has held back every minority, It's not about education and self reliance it's my Superb powers of Whiteness. Those kids that kill other kids on the street corner..not their fault, it's my whiteness. I have excepted my blame for poverty, drugs, prostitution, none of this is a any ones fault, but my whiteness. . So next time when you get denied for a job because they saw "Life Skills' under Education..Blame my Whiteness. Next time the cops pull you over cause you have a rap sheet a mile long..Blame my Whiteness. . My Incredible Powers of Whiteness are to blame for all your economic and social woes (Message edited by figorvonbuellingham on July 10, 2016) |

I think Snopes' summary sounds pretty accurate . . . to wit:
quote:The Conservative Treehouse article employed a series of half-truths, misleading claims, and unsupported speculation in an attempt to justify the fatal force used by an officer during a traffic stop in Minnesota.
Cop is going to have to do a lot better than we've seen to avoid murder charges. |

But now there's a recording that supports that article that snopes reviewed, all except for the use of the word "suspect", and only if you consider its strict legal definition as applicable to legal terminology. Sorry, I don't have a link to the recording. Try googling "police scanner recording". |

Don't let the crap math and poor logic infesting the BLM movement sway you *either* direction. Just because many of the BLM protests are around reasonable uses of force against violent criminals, that doesn't mean there is never or will be a problem with excessive force. At least one case absolutely was (and the cop that did it was sitting his ass in a cell by nightfall). This latest where a CCW permit holder was pulled over and shot may be another one. We don't have to fall for a false narrative, but every person has the right to constitutional protections. Pulled a car over for "looking like an armed robbery suspect" several days after the armed robbery is horse-shit. |

Reep, how is that horse shit? if the perp is man with beard wearing a red baseball cap driving a white car,... two days later he sees a man with red baseball cap in white car... with no beard..., should he just ignore the possibility the perp shaved? |

Because people have a right to not be pulled over on such a subjective, speculative, statistically unfounded, and unaccountable criteria. By that rule, anyone anywhere could be pulled over at any time by any cop. Because everybody looks like somebody that did something bad. If it was within a few blocks and within an hour or so... maybe... but even that makes me uncomfortable. It would depend on how specific the description was, what the crime was, and what the circumstances were. Any LEO's here want to share what the rules are? Black man in white car with red hat from two days ago sounds like it would match tens of thousands of people. So it's poor policing as well as an encroachment of the rights of citizens not to be hassled by police. We can't let all the bogus claims of the BLM movement keep us from making sure everyone of every color has their rights as an American citizen protected. |

Oh... it was a black man???... nevermind... your right. I had no idea. Let him pass. But are they sure? could not have been a very tan George Hamilton type? If the only info was the red hat, the beard and a white car.... and the crime was THAT serious... I would hope the officers would take every step needs to find the perp. I would oblige to them if asked as well. I want to do my part to help. If you DON't want to help, you also don't give crap about wanted criminals living amongst your fellow man. I'm in the field where I have to design IT security controls every day. It has little to do with law enforcement, but I personally support police and greatly appreciate the hard and dangerous job they do. 20% of the time I am fighting for better and stronger security controls and higher security authority. 80% of the time I am fighting emotionally attractive and "common sense" sounding security controls that are in fact poorly conceived and ineffective in practice (in terms of their cost / risk / benefit ratio). The better I can do fighting the 80%, the better I can do getting the 20%. This "pull over somebody because they were a black man in a white car with a red hat" sounds like a horseshit control to me. Extending my analogy, I would be against "same color hat, same race, same color skin" being a legal criteria for pulling somebody over. But I would be OK with a digital facial recognition system that could capture a visual identity fingerprint as part of surveillance equipment in a private business, use of that data to load into a piece of equipment that an officer carries that does passive scans while they patrol, and pulling somebody over when that gets a hit. It would need to be vetted to make sure it is reasonably accurate for the circumstance, but I think the technology is already there. And I'd be 100% OK with it provided it wasn't just tracking everyone, and instead it was passively scanning for a specific person of interest. I want some objectivity and accountability for those entrusted with a high degree of authority. If a person (a cop in this case) has the authority to use deadly force to detain me, they also need extremely high accountability to a very precise set of rules. I'm not submitting to the cop, I am submitting to the law and the rule of law. Which has to be incredibly well defined and carefully followed in the event of a forcible detention (even just to pull me over and ask me some questions). I also fully understand that this adds risks and makes the LEO job harder. And it is some of the safety I will sacrifice for liberty. (And I'm not even sure that is really true, given police states are more rare than criminals, but when they occur, they are also far more efficient killers. But that's a different topic.) This "pull over somebody because they were a black man in a white car with a red hat" sounds like a horseshit control to me. sounds like entry-level common sense detective work to me. You want someone like bevus and butthead patrolling your neighborhood?...with some electronic device telling them who to pull over? I know they do it with license plates... but faces will be harder...with tinted glass... or if they refuse to remove a niqab or burka. |
