Ventilation? I didn't think of that! That's probably a good idea Joe! |

Glitch, what kind of car are you bringing? I'm working out load fitment and balancing arrangement for my trailer. We will be toting my Uly and your car. |

We have a Kia Optima, I doubt seriously we would drive the 84 Le Sabre... It would be a gas hog! |

oh well, that puts me at ease. engine braking at speed, towing a trailer, sounds legit. to quote Kdan
quote:Dave's not supposed to go out this way, there's supposed to be fire, motorcycles, and everyone standing around going, damn!
nice to know there's still a chance to do it right! |

Well, last year I took the motorhome into the park the wrong way from the Interstate. You know, the way motorcycles go. Lesson learned. We will be coming in from the West and North, the way a motorhome toting a trailer should go. We didn't hurt the brakes, but we boiled the brake fluid and that makes them not work so well. Or at all for that matter. Anyhow, Brad got over his anxiety when we arrived safely. Heck, I had plenty of stories of how I lost my brakes many times in the past to entertain him over the last ten miles. Once I found I had no brakes on the first lap of a 40 lap dirt track feature. Led the whole damn race until a rock or something took out my radiator on the 37th lap. My Jeep blew out the master cylinder twenty miles out with no parking brake with plenty of steep mountain trails to run. Dirt bikes, snowmobiles, a VW Beetle, a big rig and a few more over many years. I have tried no brakes several times. Having experience with it does not make it any less thrilling. I have towed the Corvette with the motorhome several times this past year. All is well with it. Brad did make me laugh once during our little adventure. He said "at least your trailer brakes can save us" I then explained to him how 'surge' brakes work.....they would actuate just after we collided with what ever would be stopping us anyways. |
