We're going to try something new. No more formal sponsorship. No more sponsor banner ads. No more quotes, invoices, fiddling with banner files and sponsor pages, no more bookkeeping and clerical work for Blake! Now we just beg for donations to help cover the $200+ per month expense of maintaining the site and server. If you'd like to help, click on any "Help Sustain..." banner (at top and bottom of forum pages). For folks interested in conducting for-profit sales or marketing efforts on the forum, we're implementing an honor system where we ask for a voluntarily donated $39 per month submitted via PayPal.com to "Support@BadWeatherBikers.com". Gone are the banner ads and dedicated sponsor pages, and no more invoices or quotes. If you want to conduct some marketing/sales via BadWeB, just donate via PayPal as already noted, and start posting as you see fit, including ads within existing threads and new threads as you see fit. The folks will surely let you know if your ads become excessive. We'll just check to see that anyone conducting marketing or sales efforts on the forum is honoring the donation honor system. With American Sport Bike closing its doors, Buell owners stateside and in Canada will be looking for parts suppliers who are knowledgeable and friendly to the brand. We hope to see some enthusiastic business folks supporting that vital need among Buell and EBR motorcycle enthusiasts. Thank you all. For the bandwidth that probably goes by each month, is there a cheaper host? What does this software run on (Windows, Unix, Linux)? Just wondering if a shared hosting platform would work vs. the VPS or dedicated box that this is probably running on right now. |

I'm looking into that Greg. The database is huge though, a sticking point for the bargain virtual or shared servers. BadWeB runs on a Linux based platform. |

Thanks all. Jeff, ask Froggy. As much as he already does for the site, he's also chipping in and has set up a recurring monthly contribution. |

I just set up a $5.00 per month recurring donation. I'll keep supporting as long as others chip in. There must be 39 other guys out there that can do the same. |

How did you guys setup recurring payments on Paypal? I can find search results on Paypal showing they offer it but every time I click on the setup process it defaults back to the welcome Paypal welcome screen. (Message edited by jrad012x on May 12, 2016) |

Hell, even a broke tramp can afford to throw in a couple of bucks, now and then. I couldn't figure out how to set up an automatic payment (at 4:00 AM, I'm not my sharpest), so I'll just have to contribute every couple of months or so. This site is the bomb; I'd hate to lose it. |

Donated Blake, it looks like there are lots of options on Paypal to setup single & recurring payments buttons from the Web page side. (Imagine nothing is free though) https://www.paypal.com/webapps/mpp/get-started/rec urring-payment-processing DAve |

I signed up for $10 a month. What I did was clicked on the banner, and next to the box where you type in your donation amount there is a checkbox that says "Make This Recurring (Monthly)". Paypal will automatically withdraw that amount then every month. |

Set up my monthly "donation" for $5 bucks a month. Blake, if you don't get enough to cover the tab just let us know. I get far more than 5 dollars worth of info from here every month. THANKS for providing a way for me to meet some of the best peeps in the world! |

"says "Make This Recurring (Monthly)". Paypal will automatically withdraw that amount then every month." Ah, I was on my phone, and didn't want to deal with the web page, so I did it through the app. Didn't see a way to do it through the app. Thanks! |

$10 monthly contributed. I don't know yet if the monthly attribute check box worked.: Never mind - the confirmation email verified a recurring payment. Glad to help keep BWB going into the future (as I check this site daily). (Message edited by Sparky on May 12, 2016) |

The database thing pisses me off. If I'm allowed five DB's at 300mb each, why can't I combine them? The amount of RAM allowed on the shares might not be enough, squeezing out 500mb starts putting you into the danger zone of being turned off. Need to switch a service at work over to a VPS to get a little better performance. |

Greg, I have a bingle-fongler running at 12 zoods! The side load is variable though but the jakebrake more than makes up for it. Fortunately the obps remains within bounds and the SEC have yet to state their position. |

Yeah? But can it make the Kessel run in less than 12 parsecs? |
