Well, it's a week away, and I'm watching the weather like a hawk. If the weather is nice, I'm gonna pull my typically "ride east...wind up in Suches...start looking for people I know" routine. I will also need a place to sleep. I'm not picky..the floor would be fine. I may toss my camping gear on and do the tent thing if no one has extra space.
I know I'm awfully non-commital, but I work a job that demands a tight schedule...so when I get time off....I plan nothing. Go with the flow.
Hey Chad- count on at least the floor for lodge room #3. Three beds: I'm splitting with Graham, hopefully Vern will make it Friday... but he might have to wait and show up Saturday. So, floor's garonteed, and maybe you could warm the 3rd bed up Friday for the old bastid.
IIRC there are some comfy sofas up in the living room of the lodge... and LOTS more floor.
Yeah, obviously everyone's praying for good weather. Given that we're all BadWeatherBikers, I'm hedging my bets- gonna ride on new, hopefully scrubbed in Avons with the slow bike. If need be, with rainsuit on. Need to waterproof my boots and gloves! I've found that riding in the rain doesn't have to suck, as long as my gear and my bike, and my mind are prepared. Riding slower, with rain gear holding dry, to me is very serene, almost relaxing.
Friday 04/01 80% / 0.09 in Thunderstorms likely in the morning. Then the chance of scattered thunderstorms in the afternoon. High 69F. Winds WNW at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 80%.
Saturday 04/02 20% / 0 in Sunny skies. High 66F. Winds NW at 5 to 10 mph.
Sunday 04/03 20% / 0 in Mostly sunny skies. High 64F. Winds NW at 5 to 10 mph.
Having ridden with you Chuckles, I understand how the Uly may have been kilt... back in the day I kilt the original motor on my CityX, certainly part of it was chasing you!
Well yesterday I managed to put a trailer wiring harness on the new cage, along with a hitch. I hooked up the trailer this morning and all the lights came on in the right places. I will be driving to Ellijay Georgia on Thursday and staying with friends there. I will ride over to Suches after breakfast on Friday. I haven't ridden for than 10 miles since I trashed my heel last July so I figured jumping on and riding 500 miles in a day wasn't very smart. My wrist and my ass are not broke in yet and it's amazing how much strength you loose after being layed up for a while! So when we go for a ride I'll take the rear and knock the rust off!
Gotta get my gear sorted, waterproof my boots and gloves, yadda yadda... after local rains here at my house Thursday, hoping it all clears for Friday morning departure!
Mmmmmm... Ribs at Vern's Thursday night, Jim's BBQ on Friday night and Saturday lunch. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. I guess I won't be losing any weight this trip!
