For a Ford that is about as pretty as they get! Well, in my top 5 Fords anyways. Buddy of mine had a '69 boss 302 4sp in Grabber blue. It had those same black out appointments. Beautiful car for sure. When that car was smoking the tires you could feel how light it was. Those Firestone bias tires that came on it never would hook up. |

Probably wants more than I can spend. Ask if he wants to trade for a Jeep and a bike or two. I'll deliver. |

Does that have an engine in it? The front end looks a little high. |

Yep, It has a 351 The suspension might be flexing a little. His yard has some pretty good rolls in it and that drivers side tire might be setting in a low spot. |

Is it a real boss with the 351W, or a clone car? |

Back in my day.....I had seen many times where mechanical guys took the 302 out of a Mustang to put in a 351C. Several mistakenly put big block springs in the front of the car to compensate, but it was overkill. The 351 with some aluminum parts wasn't that much heavier than the 302/289. Where the springs were more for the big 'Y' blocks like the 390, 400, 429, if memory serves. Ford also had the 352 truck engine that was in the heavier range. But my point is, I recall more than one of the early mustangs sitting front high because of the perceived notion that the 351 needed heavier springs. Of course back then there were probably only a choice of two spring rates, small block/six cyl, or big block. What sounds better to put under your newly to be installed souped up 325 hp 351C? |

I got a second opinion from another ophthalmologist. They echoed what the first doctor said, which isn't the good news. I was then referred to a specialist who only handles that disorder. They performed some additional tests, found that the macular degeneration was misdiagnosed! I have a small wax deposit on my left eye from a very small plasma issue, but it's stopped and fine. Aside from my near sightedness and astigmatism, my eyes are healthy. He was actually at a loss for how they could have misdiagnosed it. Best news I've gotten in a while! |

2000 Cadillac Escalade Report. It was traded in 3 days. For a 2013 Grand Caravan SE with 145,000 miles... I had a list 3/4 of a page long of what I guessed it needed. The mechanic handed me a list filling a legal pad. My list had U Joints, brakes, bearings, lines ( all ) and a total rebuild on the dash & interior. Question marks were Trans & transfer case. Vortec Small Block ran like a top though. His list had all that... plus front and rear main seals, transfer case seals, burnt smelling tranny fluid and.... no oil in the engine. 4 quarts to get it to the stick. Yep. I bought a grenade. It has a new home with a young Mechanic at the shop who will no doubt enjoy the crap out of it once he's thrown $5000 in labor at it. Will report on the Caravan... once I've thrown some speed parts on it.. let's see "Google... Dodge Caravan Performance parts?.....(crickets)" Ok then. 2013 SE model, stow & go, Black. Basic as heck, no computers, the nice, manual, 3-way heater/AC, and the Ubiquitous 3.6 L Flexfuel engine. The 6 speed transmission shifts in Eco mode like I do when just cruising. Acceleration ( such as it is ) 1st, 2nd, 3rd, then screw it, triple shift to 6th and roll at 1000 rpm. Ok, cruising and a little drunk. It's taking some getting used to after the VW's Dual Clutch masterpiece. It promises to be entertaining in Manual Mode. The throttle is programmed horribly. Initial response is muted, then a fraction of an inch further and I'm burning snow tires. With studs. Then a moderately responsive band, then a 6 inch boot of nothing much happening followed by "Oh, You wanted Full Throttle? Here!". |

Death Wobble... never had it... until now. Went to Bleep'n Jeep and watched his death wobble videos. Sure enough, the track bar bolt was loose. I tightened it up so now I only have a "little" death wobble. Jacked the Jeep up and both front hubs need replaced. A little wobble can sure mess a ton of stuff up. I just ordered a set of SKF Hubs and a Fox 2.0 Steering Stabilizer. Then it will be time for a front end alignment.

But seriously..... I knew this would happen! But then, this is why my Jeep became a dedicated off road machine. It can crawl off road at speeds up to 30 with no ill effects. If it was to go down the highway at normal speeds it would need a bucket of $$ followed by two buckets of labor. Hey Mark, welcome to the world of "mine will craw with the best of them" but as such "mine will only cruise roadways with the worst of them". Flush the mud out, grease it up, run it again. If I get a death wobble at 25 mph I'm gonna air up the flat tire! |

I will WIN! I have a set of SKF hubs delivering tomorrow along with a FOX 2.0 steering stabilizer. I will keep it somewhat road worthy... |

My truck (lifted IFS chevy 3/4 ton) started exhibiting what I would describe as a "death wobble" any time I hit a significant bump. I know this is totally different from what you're experiencing but I'd like to add it for the record. I discovered that my lower balljoints are toast, and any time I hit a bump, the "ball" of the balljoint is slamming back and forth and back and forth in the "socket" portion, which produces a scary amount of shudder. I've also had some pretty bad wobble issues due to a bad carrier bearing, and defunct steel banding in my radial tires. I also had a big, nice, fancy, 37" Interco SSR explode on me at highway speeds with no warning. My local dealer that I bought it from said it was a fluke and he'd never heard of it before. Guess I'm getting off track here. But since I am.... Anyone have any preferences for AT tires? I've run several over the years, so far my favorite has been the Cooper ST. I'm looking at the Mickey Thompson ATZ P3 for my next set of shoes. |

If got some 33ers bf goodrich a/t under the J4000 and like them! Had some desert 30 duellers m\s before and they did not need any balancing till it cracked some cords and i could not hold the steering wheel any more (it were some 15 years old tires and had them on for a long time on different rims and trucks. |

It is often caused on lifted Jeeps by insufficient camber and incorrect toe-in. Think of riding a motorcycle with zero rake angle and zero trail, then hit the brakes. I went thru the same problem with my XJ's and my MJ. I fixed both by running a little extra toe-in and running the lower links as far extended as I could while balancing drivetrain vibes. I short, if you adjust for no drivetrain vibes by screwing with pinion angle, you are pulling camber out. One of my jeepin' buddies went so far as to cut and rotate the "c's" on his front axle. Also, some tires are more prone to wobble than others which adds to the equation. |

I'm not a 4x4, but I've got 32 inch BFG Radial All Terrain T/A's on my cargo van. Also got a limited slip differential, so it can push through soft dirt and moderate mud pretty well. I've had these tires before on other trucks and like the high mileage I get out of them. my $0.02 |

The Generals are a similar pattern to the BGF A/Ts. I liked my BFGs, I think I got over 60k from a set on my S10. They also generally take less weight to balance than less expensive tires. |

I've tried to like BFG AT's, but I just can't get over how ugly they are. They look like a bunch of worms. And packing peanuts. Wofridgerider, I'm not a jeep buff but I like offroad tech a lot - is that a shortarm kit? That sway bar looks like it's set up for huge amounts of travel compared to that short control arm. |

Its a Currie AntiRock Sway Bar with Savvy Control arms. Savvy sells them together in their 3" and 4" lift kits. I just bought the 3" kit 1 part at a time. Its hard to believe how much travel it has with a 3" suspension lift and a 1" body lift. The last piece of the puzzle is going to be the Currie AntiRock rear sway bar. Then I hope to be done for a year or two. I have my eye on a set of Fox 2.0 Air shocks. But they are going to require a ton of fab work and welding.

Yeah it looks good. A lot more than my ifs chevy. I drove a wheel up on a stump the other day to see what the ifs can do and it's down right pathetic. I mean i dont really wheel anymore but I really miss the coil sprung 4 linked front axle on my dodge. It had a 6" lift using the stock control arm tabs and wheel travel was impressive for a full sized pickup. Is there a disconnect on that sway bar setup? |
