This account belonged to Charles Williams, my father. He passed away (peacefully) at 4am Tuesday morning (9/22/15) after a relatively brief struggle with Multiple Myeloma. He died from a combination of pneumonia and a staph infection, brought on by a weakened immune system as a result of chemo and radiation therapy. He spent a great deal of time on this board, and knew many of you. For those of you that considered him a friend, I am sorry for your loss as well. |

Well, damn. I'm very sorry to hear that. I knew Charlie had been sick but thought he was on the mend. I met Charlie a few years back when he lived in the Charleston area and have seen him at several Buell meets since then. We sure missed him at "Buells in the Alps 5" this summer and I know he was disappointed he couldn't come. RIP Charlie. |

So sorry to hear of your dad's passing... I'm off today, will be going on a ride, pegs down. IIRC, didn't he have a SERIOUSLY modded old tuber? Seems I remember meeting him at my first Buells in the Alps shindig, but I could be wrong. Godspeed to those twisty roads up yonder in HIS kingdom, Charlie. |

Wow- I type pretty fast, but look what happened... yes, I thought I'd seen one of the coolest M2's evaar with him riding... so far, only Purpony's bike would compare. |

A few days before he passed, he asked that I sell the Buell and give my mom the money. Unfortunately, I'm not very knowledgeable on bikes, especially on something this custom, and don't have any idea on what to ask for it. |

Here are a few pics from various BITA meets: Charlie's customized M2; it always drew a lot of long looks and comments at our meets: Charlie (on the left) at lunch in Little Switzerland: Charlie (far left) shooting the breeze under the shed at the Skyline Village Inn after a day of riding the twisties:

Charlie's son, throw up a classified ad. I don't even know what you should ask for that, but I know those mods make for one SWEET RIDE. Good luck, and my condolences to your family. |

The clearest memory I have of Charlie was at the first SCBR (before it was formally SCBR) "gathering" when we rode around Lake Murray. I was following him on my Blast and the road took a quick left hook. Charlie went straight instead of possibly going down in that tight turn and left the road. I figured it might go bad but he rode it out and brought his bike safely to a stop on that slick grass down that hill. I can still see his front tire stopping and starting like a most precise ABS controlled slowdown. That was where his off road skills really shined and kept him safe. I'm gonna miss him a bunch. Keep the rubber side down Charlie!! |

Had some good conversations with Charlie about his years of racing and owning race bikes. I was about to post a picture like the one Hugh did, of me and Charlie standing with the bikes and shooting the bull. Charlie is on the left and I am in the middle of the pic. It was fun to sit with him and watch people look over his bike only for them to find "Grandpa", being a man of girth, was the owner of such a cool hotrod Buell. We laughed about that quite a bit. A truly good man. RIP Charlie! |

I posted a link to this thread in Storm Fronts yesterday in the Roanoke, VA Buell riders section since Charlie used to live there. The last post before mine was by Charlie wishing all his friends there a Merry Christmas last year. |
