Hey all- still don't know how he passed... Life is short, but sweet. Don't let the bastards getcha down, keep the chin up and your knees in da breeze. AFAIK, this ride on the big blue marble is all we get, then... (Baptist/Buddhist/Multi-Bob/agnostic flavor, I am.) |

My sincere condolences to his family and friends. Does anyone have a picture of Lafayette to post up? I know I have met and ridden with him more than once. Heck, I even lived in his home town in Florida for several years through the 80's and 90's. Like so many Buellers of BadWeB that I know, a picture puts you up front in my mind as to whom I have communicated and made friends with through here. Then there are all of the great people who we all meet through various events and gatherings. You meet them and they are just another stranger until as you are shaking their hand they tell you their BadWeB handle. Then it is like you melt into having known them for years. I have said it before, the BadWeB community is like an extended family of cousins who you haven't met. until one of those days that you go to a Buell riders gathering. In a short time it becomes so much like a family reunion. |

RIP LaFayette. You were a man of much wisdom, and I'll never forget when we met and shared some good laughs. Godspeed brother. |

RIP Lafayette, thank you for all of the support and knowledge. My condolences to all of the family. He will be remembered and missed here on Badweb. I'm glad I was able to meet Lafayette here in Houston. His spirit will live on in so many tube framed Buells. |

Sorry to hear this. Lafayette was so generous with his time. Last I spoke to him was in the Fall. Might there be an address where one can send a card? |

There are posts and photos on his facebook page, I don't know his family so won't copy any of those over to the badweb. Gonna miss his posts, his information, and most especially his ever willing, genuine giving attitude. He was really helpful when I couldn't get my crank seal out and we chatted several times over the phone as he offered assistance to me. Sad, sad news. Pegs down for Buellistic. |

Sad news. Not riding his year yet, but going out to the garage to lower rear pegs. Curious about his signoff line, even if I wouldn't like the reason for it, does help to know the person a little better, but some reasons are private so I can respect that. He is missed by many. The next puffy cloudy day I'll look up for a tire burnout smiley cloud floating by, followed by a buellistic thunder rumble echoing from the horizons. |

Does anyone have info on what happened? Given the suddenness, I'd guess a heart attack. I've searched several times for an obituary without luck. |

I'm sure that a lot of folks have a number of 101's that could be put in a special place in the Knowledge Vault. It would be a special tribute to Lafayette and a lasting benefit for the BadWeB Community. RIP Buellistic and condolences to family and all who knew him. |

Hello everyone! I am Lafayette's daughter. My mom, Glenda, ask me to post on here to let you know that she appreciates every comment that she has read. LaFayette passed away in his sleep on Thursday 3/10/16. He had his last ride on his motorcycle on 2/6/16. He got so much enjoyment talking to many of you on the phone and sharing his knowledge of motorcycles. Someone requested an address to send a card to. My mother's address is 3102 Clovewood Place Seffner, Florida 33584. Please keep my mom in your prayers. Ride safely. Enjoy life!!! |

This is very sad news to hear. Layfayette was, for many years, one of the staple "characters" among the Buell community. He will be most remembered for his generosity and willingness to help folks in need. He had an aura of confidence and had honed his "home fixes", constantly improving upon the factory manuals, for nearly all the common maladies in our motorcycles. He was . . . in the simplest of terms . . . just a darn nice person and a valued member of our little world. We will miss him terribly. May his family find meaning in his life and peace in his absence. He leaves a big hole in our world and theirs. Court |

With over 6000 posts to his name, his loss will forever be a void in the Buell community. His posts were and will continue to be pivotal in our endeavors to keep these motorcycles running. Rest in peace Sir, you will be missed. |

Godspeed, LaFayette. We never met, but from the t-shirt you're wearing in the posted photo, we've walked some of the same ground. Your wisdom and enthusiasm continue to serve. "If I have seen further, it is from standing on the shoulders of giants." - Issac Newton. |

Sean "Rocketman" Pepper, has asked me to pass on his condolences, along with my own, to his friends and family. He'll be much missed, we're fortunate that he so freely passed on so much, that's a great legacy. |

I just found out about this today. I'm very sorry to hear Lafayette is gone. I never met him, but we spoke on the phone once or twice, and he sent me many of his 101 lessons. They have been, and will remain, a great help. Just this week playing in the garage, I thought of emailing him to see if he had a carb 101. Please accept my sincere condolences for your loss. |

I knew he was gone, but hadn't seen this thread until today. He will be sorely missed, always replied to his mail promptly and knew a whole lot about our shared passion. "I am no one" is what Ulysses said to the Cyclops, so that after he lost his eye the brute yelled, "No one has put my eye out!", causing his fellows to tell him to shut up and go back to sleep and allowing Ulysses three steps toward the door of the cave. |

High all I posted this in the tuber section but wanted to get it on here also So found out this mirning we lost him. I am crushed. I never personally met him but he would call me about once a month ask me about my build and help me with issues. I got real busy this spring and summer kids graduating and getting married. Time flew. Sent him an email a month ago only to find this out today. I have no excuse I should have paid more attention. Love him or hate him you will be hard pressed to find someone more dedicated to the brand! I believe it was my first post on this forum. He PM ed me. Subject line read "your belts to tight" Sent me parts 1 and 2 of drivebelt adjustment 101! I like most newbies went WTF. Sent him a reply asking more info and it went from my work email with my cell number that night he called me that was pretty cool! I would like to put a post together with all of his 101 classes he would send us . I have a dozen or so. I will post up what I have tonight and if anyone has others please send them to me in a pdf each one in their own please. I will do the work and get it up. Ride in piece with the wind at your back LaFayette |
