Alf, America was not designed to be a democracy. It was established to be a constitutional republic.
However, those who will not learn are trying to drag us backwards. We are stepping closer towards democracy every day. That may not sound scary, unless you understand the differences, and know a little about the trends of communism.
Why would he invest in a country that he was forbidden to visit because he exercised his right to free speech?
I'm no trump fan, but if that's the worst thing hes done, I'm much more comfortable with that then risking the safety of a nation to make it easier for me to avoid obeying federal laws that hold me accountable to the people I work for.
Again though, I am no trump fan. It's fairly terrifying to me that he looks like one of the better choices in the field from either party right now. Ugh.

A constitutional Republic PROTECTS us from the tyrrany of the majority.
A Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on the dinner menu.
It appears to me that the Republicans have given up this election cycle.
Oh, no, it's war to the knife over on the Republican side. shifting factions and jillions of dollars ebbing to & fro. Quite exciting to watch if you're into Games.
If you mean the Republican Establishment has given up taking the white house? I don't think that's quite how I'd put it. More... the R Leaders would rather have Hillary than Trump & Cruz, the current Poll faves. Razzle Frazzle. &^%$
Re: Palin/Trump
I don't think Palin will hurt Trump's chances, in fact it may help with certain interest groups. Certainly the mainstream media will attack her, and that might take some heat of Trump.... at least that's a theory. Might be wrong, the Palin/Trump thing could be a mess.
Hilarious... just freaking hilarious.... More Palin and Trump to cover the airwaves for the next 3 months.... I am going to stock up on the pop corn... I want to be there when they make it official... I mean... be on my couch watching the left media cringe and bitch and whine... gonna be good.
It would really be a "right back atcha" kind of play.
Yea, I just suspect it, not likely to happen. But... That won't stop me from bringing the topic of her running with Trump, especially when I know I am around people who hate the idea.
Who is a commie?? I live in a blue state, my new boss is an unbelievably flaming liberal democrat so I have to watch what I say while at work and probably everywhere else. I just started getting back into FB too!! I am a middle of the road republican/semi-conservative.
The "Red" part here is funny as heck, if you like irony.
The choice to make D=Blue & R=Red came from ( IIRC ) a genius at ABC.
Sure, if you view colors as religious or political iconography, then Red makes perfect sense for the more Left party.
Red for the Glorious Revolution, Red for the Soviet & Maoist Dictatorships they now openly admire, Red for the Blood of the Slaves, etc. etc. But also Red for "Red, White and Blue".
( in medieval monasteries where religious iconography reached it's literary heights, it would be "A rose as red as the Blood of Christ" as all things were referenced to religion. A relic of Greek philosophy, definitions and tropes )
Red is also the color of danger, of Blood, of fury, etc.
So deliberately, in the grand tradition of the Left, the art of altering the meanings of words to win the argument/power was intelligently applied to cast the spell of Danger on the Republican party, and the Calm of Blue on the Democrat.
Quite clever, eh?
So. Xdigitalx gets his hackles up with a now obsolete insult.... crossed meanings and feigned incomprehension.
To quote Kansas. In all that I endure, of one thing I am sure
Knowledge and reason change like the season, a jester's promenade
Geeze, That went over my head and below my feet. Not the first or last time. Call me simple minded. I don't mind. I view red only cuz of this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_states_and_blue_ states I don't remember any other way lol.
OK, OK, I actually I DID vote for Carter in 1980... but I was young and dumb.
Don't entirely agree with that editorial, but don't totally disagree either.
And I'm far too lazy tonight to try a point by point rebuttal, nor does it matter.
I will, just for giggles, take a guess as to the ticket this November.
Hey, If I'm wrong, I'm wrong, again.
If I'm right I can claim Cassandra status.
Cuomo vs. Rubio. Andrew vs. Marco.
For this to happen, Hillary has to implode, be prosecuted, or be hit by a terrible illness, causing her to withdraw. ( Like losing )
Likewise, perhaps Trump will go full tilt bozo after Cruz, getting both horrid publicity, AND the Establishment Republican Evil Leadership has to decide Jeb is a lost cause and shift gears.....
And it's not Feb. yet, so that's my prediction.... and I predict I will be completely wrong on how the front runners fail, but still guess the end result.......... OR I will be dead wrong on the results, but spot on on the methods of personal destruction.
I will hold my nose and vote for Trump if it comes down to it, although I believe he's a snake oil salesman just like every other politician. I think the country is finished as I've known it. It's just a matter of degree of how fast things change or in my eyes - reach the bottom.
