Interesting read. My next bike may not be built by Erik, but it sounds like it'll have plenty of his DNA. http://www.cycleworld.com/2016/01/21/on-the-record -abe-askenazi-tech-head-at-zero-motorcycles-cycle- world-interview/ |

We were at the same table with Abe at the 25th Anniversary Homecoming in 2008. He is truly a Class Act. |

Erik Buell is an engineering genius...but I'd prefer to not have his DNA on my next bike. No jizz, pee, poop, or spit please. |

Well Erik Buell is a genius and so, in all candor, is Abe Askenazi. If you'd prefer to have a motorcycle free of their DNA . . . you're going to have to give up some things that we've come to expect . . . silly things like street braided brake lines . . . Up until Erik and Abe went to work on it . . . everyone knew it was a great idea, everyone knew the benefits but no one could pass the federal tests for approval. Buell did. |

The Zero S and SR have comfortable, neutral ergonomics, sporty styling and handling and a belt drive. If EBR doesn't make it back, Zero is already making everything I'm looking for in a "Daily Rider." For longer rides, I still have my two Beemers. |

Thanks for posting the article. Wasn't Abe Askenazi in a video describing the Ulysses, a few years ago? I'm both jealous and happy for him; to be working on the machines that we all enjoy. More stuff on Zero recently: American Motorcyclist's Feb 2016 issue's cover article is about a cross-country trip on a Zero. If you're not an AMA member, this issue will hit their online archive about when the March issue mails out. Aerostich has a blog,"Zero below zero," about riding all winter (in Minnesota) on a Zero. |

The rumor (from JS Online) prior to the most recent EBR auction was that Zero was one of the parties interested in acquiring EBR. That would have been an interesting combination. IIRC, one obvious Buell-related change Zero made since Abe joined the company is to change from chain drive to belts, which really makes sense on an otherwise-quiet electric bike. |

It's also part of the "lower maintenance" path Zero took as opposed to Brammo (now Victory) which seems to want to build electric bikes as needlessly complex as an ICE bike. |

Maybe they'll buy the I.P. and then Zero can start their.... E-lectric B-ike R-acing division? Continue the Buell spirit on a new path. Straight up, no ICE. |
