Vern, I'm afraid that I'm not quite that old, but...
...my Saturday mornings were usually spent watching Mr. Wizard. Who in real life was Don Herbert. Anyone remember him?
Not to derail the thread, but I'm writing my memoir (birth to when I met Mrs. Greg), and I have several sections about TV shows of the period. Another couple of my favorites were Twilight Zone, The Man and the Challenge, and...aw, that's enough of that.
This is about Vern; I'll be taking another "east" trip in September 2016, perhaps I'll swing by your neck of the woods on my way south and say hello.

Mr.Wizard.....I don't think we got that channel of the four we received in black and white, turn the knob, days. Or at least it was likely on when we were watching something else.
Yesterday and today I found my functionality threshold for my fingers. It seems temps above 60F are good functional days and above 70F are good functional happy days without noticeable aching.
I even got both Buells out, charged them up, fired them up and rode them around a bit. That Blast amazes me. It has not even been out of the shed in a year and a half. The only preparation for storage was filling it with no alcohol premium gas, which I normally run anyways. Charged the battery and it fired right off about six revolutions in. And it ran great! The Uly did the same but it had run several times over the past summer up until October.
It is going to be hard for me to sell these damn things. Never had a bike that fit so well. |

Just from personal experience, don't sell the Uly,
You won't get enough for it to offset the grief you'll have without it.
If I had to trim to one bike, pretty sure it'd be the Ulysses.
I now have a convertible, an 02 Sebring, and it is the new daily driver. Still gotta have a scooter..
Good luck with the new direction tho!
BTW, I turned 61 last month.

So what do I do when off from the bike? I guess I could run a couple of hoses from the back of my pants up thorough my sleeves into gloves, and eat only the bean burrito platters!  Yummy! |

So I had to move the Uly today. When it fires up sitting there idling to warm up, few things I can think of sounds more awesome. Right up there with a cammed, headered V8.
I admit the Uly is going to be late down the list of stuff that I need to sell. I know you guys are right in that I will totally regret selling it. I'm trying to rearrange a few plans that would allow me to keep it even if my riding will be limited.
Ya'll suck. Without badweb and you fine folks it would be so easy to just sell it and turn the page.

I have mine (the XB9) that's sitting in the garage, I've even halfheartedly tried to sell it a couple of times (to BadWebbers) with no "luck"
It's sat for more than a year now, and every now and again, I fire it up, and get all nostalgic.
I've ridden for the past 40+ years, and since I was 17 I've always had a bike of one type or another.
It's hard to give up, and I feel your pain.
I don't want to sell it to someone that doesn't already know Buell, you know, trying to keep it in the family.
