So I may buy a basket case cycle from Connecticut, does the title need to be notarized? A quick Google says no, but thought it best to ask. Waiting for pictures to see what might be missing to see if its worth the drive. |

That is a question for N.Y. DMV. In CA I've bought, non currently registered, basket case bikes (mostly off road) with nothing more than a hand written bill of sale. CA DMV was interested in: The amount paid, that frame and engine numbers were specified on B.O.S. and the signature of seller. |

Titles being notarized? No. The existing owner signs the title over to you. When you register it, your state takes that title and issues a new one with your name on it. |

I believe I have been asked for a notarized bill of sale, when titling a vehicle in Maryland. They wanted it notarized because the price I paid was below blue book and they were getting too small of a cut. SteveH |

Motorcycles (and cars) from Ohio need to have the sellers signature notarized, think PA is the same. At least one state needed both notarized. NY DMV requires whatever the sellers state requires. When I bought my 9r from Ohio, I had to have the sellers signature notarized. |
