Had one for a while. Learned about the adage that "you shouldn't own one unless you'd built it from the tires up yourself"... dang thing would break down at least every other time I rode it. OTOH, it was great fun, inimitable sound (straight pipes that shot flames!), just a raw, old-school ride. If I had the skills to build one and maintain properly, I'd get another in a heartbeat. |

I had a 78 1/2 FXE that I put 72,000 miles on, back in the early 80s. I rode it all over the country in 1981. My worst problem was a broken clutch cable. I traded it in on a Liberty Edition 1986 XLH 1100 in September of '85. That Superglide is one of the bikes I regret having let go. It didn't handle and the brakes sucked, but boy, did it feel good. |

My last Harley after I got bit by the Buell was an 82 90" Shovel Wide-Glide. Some days I still miss it.

That 83 FLHT is a good candidate for stripping off all unnecessary parts and ride it like that! (Message edited by Brother in buells on November 15, 2015) |

As of today this is how the 83 sits... Getting a thorough going through, with all the bases getting covered.

Looks like that table has been worth more than its weight in any precious metal. |

Hory shet! I guess it wasn't heavy enough? How much do you suppose it all weighed? |

In total all that sheet probably weighed 50 lbs. That table is worth its weight in gold, so I picked up another one ))
