I'd post this in Storm Fronts under the 3%'ers, but nobody's visited that thread in months. Rider's Hill, the multi-brand dealer (including EBR) in Dahlonega, GA (near Suches) is closing before the end of this year. You guys in the area may want to pay them a visit soon; they have a great gear assortment. I wonder what they'll charge for their remaining EBR's?
Here's a pic of their EBR inventory from Glitch Badness:

I like the place as a meeting point, and the people are nice... But the bikes in my opinion were way overpriced. I think it would have been better as a motorcycle themed cafe with a full menu instead of just reheated items from Costco. The service center could probably survive pretty well, being where it is and OPEN on Sundays especially. Nice people as Mike pointed out, but I think they tried to do too many things at once. |

Dang. That place seemed to be a nice outfit... given the sheer number of bikes rolling through during the "on" season, wonder why they couldn't keep things floating? Matthew and I visited there last year at Glitchfest, and I didn't really analyze any bike pricing... given the area demographics though, I'd bet they were WAY top-heavy for new bike inventory that they carried. "The service center could probably survive pretty well, being where it is and OPEN on Sundays especially." I agree, but they couldn't do a diagnostic on my '02 Triumph because they didn't have the OBDII cable. (I'd left mine at home...) Seems kinda dumb to be a Triumph dealer and not be able to do that. Oh well, I sure hope all the staff there get things worked out. |

I briefly considered buying a new Boulevard cruiser at Rider's Hill. It was a 2 year old model on clearance. It took me about 2 minutes to find a lower price on the exact same bike with more options using my phone. I generally recall seeing.the exact same bikes sitting there, year in and year out. The same yellow Hayabusa has been sitting there at least 2 if not 3 years now. I was always looking at the consignments, almost bought an old CB750 but the owner finally pulled it out of there after it just sat forever. I remember them not having your cable Brad... I think their shop is mainly a tire installation service. I can't imagine dragging a bike all the way up there to be serviced unless I broke down near by. |

BTW- I posted the info up below Rider's Hill's post on Facebook which advertised this sale regarding the delay in restarting EBR (see discussion in the EBR & Buell in the News sub-forum from yesterday). They said they were glad to get the info as they had no idea what was happening. |

So, EBR is being auctioned again due to Hero? |

So, EBR is being auctioned again due to Hero? Basically, yes. From the horse's mouth:
quote:The plan to restart Erik Buell Racing motorcycle company of East Troy faces a roadblock that's sending it back to bankruptcy court, it was revealed Monday. Erik Buell Racing was the sequel to Buell Motorcycle Co., which Harley-Davidson Inc. owned for more than a decade before dropping the brand in 2009 and leaving company founder Erik Buell to start over on his own. Court records showed the company had $20.8 million in assets and $20.4 million in liabilities when it shut down in April and sought court protection from creditors. In August, motorcycle enthusiast Bruce Belfer of West Allenhurst, N.J., bought the manufacturing assets of Buell for $2.25 million, while Hero MotoCorp. of India paid $2.8 million for Buell's consulting business. Monday, Belfer said the deal is headed back to bankruptcy court, for another court-ordered auction, because problems with the first settlement meant that he could not secure financing to recapitalize the business because of an uncertain balance sheet. "I've done some tough deals in my career, but this was, in my opinion, intentionally complicated ... If you want some idea what it's been like, try taking a deep breath on August 5th and holding it for three months," Belfer said. Belfer said he is still committed to buying Erik Buell Racing and will be at the Dec. 10 court-ordered auction. "Throughout this, I have made a point not to make any promises before I was in position to deliver. I know this has frustrated some of you, but the worst thing any business can do is make commitments it is not yet able to keep. Bear in mind, the only other bidders were all liquidators. I'm used to keeping my promises, and I promise you this: I don't quit," Belfer said. This story will be updated throughout the day.

Others could be interested in acquiring the company at the next auction. Earlier, some had said that Polaris Industries, the Medina, Minn., maker of Victory and Indian motorcycles was a potential buyer. In August, there were interested buyers who weren't ready then, according to Buell. Interesting |

Though the last month of frustrated posts by dealer(s) and anxious posts by individuals could have been quelled by telling of villain's actions on 6 oct or shortly after. |

Though the last month of frustrated posts by dealer(s) and anxious posts by individuals could have been quelled by telling of villain's actions on 6 oct or shortly after. It does seem like something could have been said. I imagine that efforts were made to get the court to allow the sale to proceed even though the date had passed, and that's why no announcement was immediately made. However, it seems like that possibility died on October 16. See this post from the EBR sub-forum with quotes from a court hearing held that date: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/cgibin/discus/show .cgi?tpc=713493&post=2513182#POST2513182 Very few of us saw that post; I saw it but blew it off as something related to distribution of funds from the sale, when the sale had actually never occurred. It's possible Bruce wanted it kept out of the news until new financing could be arranged. At any rate it's out now; good luck to Bruce for being successful and completing the purchase the second time around. |

I sat on that white one back in May I think. The seat was too low and the pegs too high, just like every other EBR/Buell I've ever sat on... except my wonderfully tall 06 Uly! |
