I saw the guy on "Wheeler Dealers" use that setup to repair a car on a recent episode. Pretty cool. I wonder what those weld-on widgets cost each? |

I had a similar device (I loaned it to a friend of my sister...never saw it again) many years ago, except it used straight studs. The gun welded on the stud, then grabbed the stud, and you used the built in slide hammer to pull the dent. It took multiple studs across the entire dent area to get it done. Sure was handy. |

I use a stud gun/slide hammer in my shop. It would not have been that quick or efficient in that circumstance. Cool tool. It looks to me that you would "sharpen" and re use those pins several times. They had to have a sharpened tip to be able to weld through the paint. The pins would have to scratch to ground. With studs it has to be ground clean before they will weld. Damn Sweeds, they'll have you spend $4000 to fix a hundred dollar dent! |
