odd, I just ran that update to 9.01 IOS and no change to a solid wi-fi. I did get a pop-up box that said if I wanted to use phone-over-wifi I had to go to prefs... never seen that before. Z |

Maybe it's the WiFi router then. Maybe it's using some kind of security (or not any security) that Apple deprecated by default (<- Pure speculation) |

I've heard from others that iOS 9 did the same thing to their 4S. |

Pwnzer that is an old school problem. Usually the fix is to hook the phone to a PC with iTunes, put the phone in DFU mode, and restore it via iTunes downloading the entire iOS and installing rather than just the OTA update the phone does. |

Keep in mind this wipes all the data off the phone, so make sure it's properly backed up beforehand. |

Ok... Whatever it was, the "Geniuses" just forked over three brand new phones because they couldn't figure it out. So much for the collective brilliance. I will stick with Android. |

That's Apple Store "techies" for ya. It's the American way lol. I worked on over 400 iPhones in a 3 year span; quit about 2 years ago. Ran into that issue a few times. |

Handing over $2100 worth of new equipment because of a software glitch doesn't seem like a very solid business model to me. I was really shocked by the whole thing, but we left satisfied... so, whatever. |

They will be back out for sale as 'refurb' for a whole $50 off full price. |

And it wasn't $2100 to them. iPhones cost about $35 to manufacture, last I heard. A few bucks for shipping and packaging, and the rest is gravy. |

Last I read it's actually about $200/ea, with the storage being the most expensive portion. Pwnzor, I would think they actually supplied the girls with refurb models, and just send their old phones in to the refurb center. A lot of places do that, like Best Buy, AT&T, etc. |

Where the hell did I get $35? I know I read that in the news. Thanks for the correction. That's still a lot of gravy though. Apple is doing well. |

They brought out brand new phones with hologram seals on the boxes and all. Like I said, shocked. I expected refurbs, but that's not what we got. In fact, this makes my oldest daughter's second brand new phone in 3 weeks. I know what they cost to make, but 64GB iPhone 6's retail around $650-$700. Nobody is really paying that up front, but all the little payments they nail you for... they get every penny of that and more. The price I pay for girls to smile about shit they don't need... You should see the panic when there's an outage, or the wifi goes down |
