Those criminals attacking the police deserved nothing less than summary execution. Please don't say things like this. It makes you look extremely close-minded, and only lends credence to the crackpots who claim all cops are judge, jury, and executioner. |

That walmart video shows that only one party wasn't using their heads. I heard walmart lets people camp in their parking lot... I guess that attracts all sorts.. (homeless christian band?) after seeing this video... I guess we won't be doing any camp-at-walmart ventures across the usa anytime soon. (in my caravan) |

If any or all of the "non-law enforcement" participants had taken a round or two in the chest . . . . no court would think more than about 2 seconds before find the shooing justified. In a case like that . . . shooting one or two of them can help end the stupidity. |

I've been staying out of this discussion of the invaded pool party, since I didn't have enough information to make a judgment. I still don't, and, frankly, don't care that much. No one got killed, YET, and it seems like a b.s. news story. But it looks like there is a continuing situation there, and I still have not enough information to make a judgment, and probably never will. http://pjmedia.com/tatler/2015/06/08/the-mckinney- texas-pool-party-the-rest-of-the-story/ The violence continues. As to the OP, who commented on my probable opinion when I had not even seen this thread, much less commented on it..... The only thing I have to say is best summed up in this cartoon. http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2015/06/05/hatin g-the-player As to the Walmart incident... I applaud the local police for keeping the lid on this insanity the best they could. They were viciously attacked, by people who seemed to have gone through some kind of screwy training program to mess with police. I can only speculate that the Father, who spent a large part of the video screaming the cops were Nazis, and the violent Mother, taught their children that this is how you deal with police. I wonder how many other incidents this family has been involved with. In an odd way it reminds me of the Westboro "Baptist" "Church" that is actually a family of lawyers that seem to make a living by suing people they annoy. ( you cannot go to their "Church" or join it, it is a legal fiction and part of the scam. ) Yes, the police would have been completely justified in shooting some, but not all of those violent people. ( hard to justify shooting an 11 year old girl in the arms of her mother, Let's be real ) And after being repeatedly brutally attacked by people you are asking to stand down, I am amazed they did not. I am impressed with the professionalism. I also feel bad for this apparently homeless family. I have no idea what their ideology, trials, and pain must be like, to be so confrontational in a Walmart Parking lot. There's undoubtedly a horrific story there, and I wonder if it will ever be told. In any event they are now in the legal system and they may be charged with Murder. ( a death that happens while you are committing a Felony, is legally murder by the Felons. A cop shoots your partner in a shoot out at your bank robbery, it's on You. ) A very sad thing. I can only hope for justice, and mercy for the innocent. |

Oh, yeah, I just sat through the hour+ news conference where they show the video, and again at 1/4 speed with commentary by the head of the Local Police. He is not unbiased in his commentary, but he is clearly trying not to say things that will ruin the Prosecution of the crimes on it. He restricts himself the the events in question, and refuses to speculate. |

Don, That Walmart parking lot scene sure was unfortunate. It also shows in my view the results yielded by yet another excitable confrontational policeman. Who would not be incredibly concerned about having their family forcibly separated? Before officer excitable arrived, did not the cop(s) already on scene seem to be speaking calmly and handling the issue quite well? Officer excitable appeared to make no serious attempt to understand the situation, just immediately commenced his divide and conquer tactic. Sound police policy for sure, but the lack of respect and knee jerk excitable attitude didn't belong in that calm/peaceful (at the time) situation. That's not policing, it's bullying. Little man syndrome. Who would not be incredibly concerned at the prospect of having our family forcibly separated? Then the backup arrives and things almost instantly escalate as the excitable cop quickly resrts to force to try to separate the people and in so doing inserts himself into a group of people, not good protocol. But maybe I'm not seeing everything. The combative people were definitely idiots. And once the struggle for the gun ensued, no restraint remains for the officers. But did it have to happen? When the cop is the one with the short fuse, it's a very bad thing. Where did those cops learn to fight? It appears to me they didn't. The pepper spray sure did the job though. "Get down on the ground!" repeat order... noncompliance?... Pepper spray to the face. Kick to the groin. Cuffs on. Turn the other cheek people. Cops must respect people. People must do what the police instruct. |

I find some things about the "pool party" amusing. They describe as something that got out of hand with facebook. There's a name for that, used both when they want to portray something as good, or bad. They call it a flash mob. Well, they certainly can't portray this as a good flash mob, but they do want to portray the teens as victims, so they will never call it a flash mob. It just got out of hand on facebook. What do you really expect the cops to do? I understand the "excitable" cop was also the first cop to arrive on scene. I heard a news report that claimed 150 kids were involved. Honestly, I have no idea what the number really is. It's hard to tell from the video, and I'm sure that there were many involved not seen in the video. Call it 50 maybe, if you want to believe that 150 is inflated. I can easily believe 50 based on the video. So you have a large mob scene where people are already disrespecting authority, and threats and violence have already been reported. How do you gain control when you are herding cats. At one point in the video you can see that he comes into frame rolling on the ground, getting up chasing someone. Looks to me like he has been tripped somehow. Was it over his own shoe laces or by someone else? Video doesn't show. The problem here is that we are now teaching people that they can disrespect authority by showing up with a large protest group. Authorities are bending to this mob pressure. We saw this as far back as the George Zimmerman case where the only reason he was charged was because of mob pressure. Ferguson, Baltimore, not this pool party. I know there have been other examples that haven't stuck in the news cycle. Cops are learning that they will be better off giving them space to destroy property. We can already see how that's turning out in Baltimore. I personally know school bus drivers who are seeing it with the kids they drive. Grade school kids, who are backed by their parents telling the driver that they can't tell their kid to stay in their seats. Really? That's a basic safety issue for the kids! Where does this go from here? |

Come to Ferguson they said. It'll be fun they said. Once again, mob mentality rules and stupidity rears it's ugly (and dumb) head. Personally, I think they're all lucky they _didn't_ get shot with multiple rounds of 9mm or whatever that department issues for carry weapons. |

And why are we discussing this again? Last time I checked, it was common knowledge that not listening to the police would end up with me getting a knot to the head- AND spend a night in jail. How is it suddenly racist when they do that to a black person who does not listen? Keep feeding this radical, racial rift. Keep feeding it. With "white guilt", "white privilege", "mob mentality". As Morgan Freeman once said- “Stop talking about it. I'm going to stop calling you a white man, and I'm going to ask you to stop calling me a black man. I know you as Mike Wallace. You know me as Morgan Freeman. You want to say, `Well, I know this white guy named Mike Wallace.' You know what I'm saying?” This wasn't about race. This was about kids not listening to the voice of authority. And not respecting it. -Court, I definitely know why I have seen a few posts of yours disappear over the years.... it's just not worth it sometimes! |

Re-watched the walmart brawl video last night with a buddy who worked security at a local amusement park for years. His opinion was both (3?) Criminals fighting for the gun should have been shot...... which tracks with Court's comments. Years of dealing with crazy people no doubt informed that opinion. Also he expressed a desire to stay out of Texas.... or Florida. ... or wherever these folk gather.... I did resist the temptation to post Warren Zevon's "Exitable Boy" YouTube clip in rebuttal/comment to Blake. Yeah, loud, take charge police can trigger the mentally ill to violence. So can a Wal-Mart employee asking them not to monopolize the public restroom, allegedly. Or perhaps anyone who tries and assert authority or control over them. I delivered to the local psych center daily for years. I learned early on you don't engage crazy people in arguments. You smile, nod your head politely, and move along. I can imagine circumstances that might require fighting for your life against multiple police. It's a desperate thing you will probably lose, & for a nominally law abiding citizen a super rare thing. Punching cops that tell you to separate from a group so they can be interviewed to settle a cluster f is mentally ill. Fighting like seen in the video is grounds for incarceration. In any less enlightened culture they might have been machine gunned down on the spot and no one would care. |

cops that tell you to separate from a group so they can be interviewed to settle a cluster f. Right. That seems to be the normal procedure. What is not shown is what started the whole thing, why the cops were called in the first place, something about a confrontation between a couple of the brothers and a woman inside walmart, that then led to the parking lot interview gone bad. I can't find no details. |

Last Saturday night, some youths were in front of my house smoking weed in their cars. At first they were being quiet. I knew there was a house party near by, so I wasn't worried about it until a young female spills out of the car screaming about "F you mother F-er" and screaming various expletives that I could hear clearly up in my bedroom, and therefore so could my young daughters. So I get up, barefoot, scruffy bearded and tatooed, and I go out there with my flashlight and walk toward the cars, shining the light at them to kind of prod them into moving along. I didn't say a word, and they all piled back into the cars and circled out quickly. At that time, I became aware of a second group on foot, in the playground area. I could see from the tennis lights, large clouds of smoke being exhaled from over there, so I keep walking down past the pavilion... in the darkened area, and looking a little out of place. At this time, three cop cars swarm into the cul de sac, so I turn around, keeping my hands in plain view and I widen the beam on my flashlight to display the entire area around me. Two of the cops approach directly towards me, and asked what I was doing there. Hands on the guns, but not drawn, and I've done nothing wrong so I'm not nervous about the situation, but I am prepared to be frisked, possibly handcuffed if necessary, but I know for a fact I won't be arrested. In other words, I know the program. So I told them, "that's my house right there" and informed them that two cars had just sped off with about 4-6 occupants and there is another group at the playground. They thanked me and went right by me, and of course the youths immediately bolted in 3 directions. They were all apprehended and none were arrested. Even though two of them had no ID, when the cops told them to stop, they stopped, and cooperated. They were allowed to walk unescorted back to the party, get in their cars and go home. The youths were all black, and the cops were all white. Yes, they did try to run, but they stopped when ordered to do so, and nobody got their asses kicked. As a resident of the neighborhood, I was happy with the outcome. The cops go back to work, the kids have a story to tell, and I went to sleep. |

What it all boils down to is parents not disciplining their children, schools not disciplining children, now children dont respect anything and think they can do anything without repercussion. This leads to confrontation with police and they get dealt a heavy hand for the first time. If the hand happens to be white....oh the outrage!!!! I sat in the waiting room of a doctors office yesterday. A black woman came in with two children. The kids instantly went nuts in the waiting room creating havoc and chaos. The receptionist told the woman her appt was at 10:30. It was 3:00. They said they would squeeze her in. The receptionist then asked for her insurance car and drivers license. "oh I forgot them" can you go get them please. "hell no I aint goin back home to get them" then you'll have to fill out these forms "whatchoo mean I gotta fill out mo forms?" Well its our policy. So the black woman hisses snatches the form and goes and sits down. The kids are just crawling the walls running uncontrollably bumping into other patients and this is a facility that does knee replacements so everyone in there is basically recovering from a surgery and getting banged on by these two little monsters. Finally the receptionist scolds those kids and tells them to sit down by their mother....and I thought the kids were monsters....it got pretty ugly after that. All I can say is the apple doesnt fall very far from the tree. My opinion is that cops arent targeting blacks. It the behavior of blacks that gets the cops attention. I can say this from experience because my behavior got the cops attention all when I was youg and I got the shit beat out of me.a.few.time and when I threw a cop on the hood of his car once I ended up with his gun in my belly. I was lucky he didnt shoot me. He would have been well within his rights to do it. So it isn't the color of someone's skin its just simply their behavior or lack there of. |

I was extremely pleased with how the whole thing went down. Young folks are going to cut loose on a summer week end, they have to do it somewhere... so as long as they aren't destroying property, a little noise is to be tolerated. If I hadn't run off the kids in the cars, it might have been different... but I'm glad they just cleared out and avoided the trouble. |

"schools not disciplining children," In case you missed something in the last decade, schools are not allowed to discipline your kids due to many parents filing lawsuits when they did. Don't blame the schools for unruly kids. |

Good on ya Matthew- I've got a park next door too, usually watch people doing regular stuff they'd do in the park- punk kids show up every now and then too. They generally know I've got the hairy eyeball on them... had a regular group a few years back. I once went over and talked with them, said I was a punk kid growing up too, whatever they were doing I'd surely done too, and then some. "Do whatever you want here, I don't care, just do right" was my comment. They don't hang around here anymore. |

Airbozo, I agree. I always hated the parents that insisted their little angels could never do wrong. My parents would ask, later, in private, but always started with the premise the adults were correct and promised appropriate punishment. Most but not all parents that have threatened lawsuits for seemingly trivial actions and thus ruined modern education deserve credit for the fall of civilization. |

The SO is a High School Teacher and the crap she deals with is pretty insane. Many years ago one of her fellow teachers confiscated a young girls cell phone, because she would not turn it off and put it away. The young girl freaked out and assaulted the teacher kicking, biting and scratching him. The teacher never raised a hand to her except to protect himself (held his hands over his face). The young girl hurt herself when she fell down and hit a desk. She instantly ran out of the classroom and called her mom who then called the police. The young girl accused the teacher of assaulting her and touching her in a sexual manner (knowing this statement would get action). The parents rushed to the school and met the police who were already there doing their investigation and _demanded_ the teacher be arrested. The police tried to calm the parents down, but they were too worked up. The officer told them to calm down or they would be the ones taking a trip to the station and then sat everyone down in a conference room (the SO was there because the young girl was one of her special ed caseload kids). The parents screamed at the teacher, principal and police for 15 minutes before the officer finally told them bluntly to shut up and watch a video another classmate took of the altercation. Sure enough, the video shows the young girl attacking the teacher, assaulting him and falling down (because she was so freaked out she lost her balance). Once the video was over, the parents accused the school of fabricating the video as their princess would never act that way. For 6 months the parents tried to force the city to bring the teacher up on charges and even contacted the local TV and newspaper. Once the media saw the video, they basically laughed the parents out of their offices. To this day the parents still have not accepted that their "angel" did anything wrong. This is merely an example of the disconnect a lot of parents have with their kids. Incidents like this happen at least once a week on her campus and several times a day in her district. My hackles get raised every time someone tries to blame teachers and the school system for the way kids behave knowing that the parents have basically tied the school systems hands with frivolous lawsuits and accusatory statements that in most cases are outright lies. |

Airbozo, I was involved indirectly in an exact parallel of that situation. Even with about 25 witnesses within 20 feet, and another 100 or so witnesses in direct line of sight, and a the video showing the accused adult didn't do anything that the kid was accusing them of, the parent still went on to try and press charges with the local PD. And that was for a volunteer in a non profit organization. They weren't getting paid, and the organization doesn't have a legal department. Its enough to make you not want to bother some days... Thank God for the video. |

I wasn't pointing blame at the schools. I just kind of thought it was common knowledge that schools cant discipline. My point was they don't get disciplined....period. Not at home not at school ..so now they think they are above all reproach. Its gone on long enough that now young adults that commit crimes think it absurd that they have to pay for a crime. When police intervene they run, they fight...they get shot. The blame goes back to the parent but no parent is going to take the blame. We are a society that has no accountability. Surely my child didnt fight the policeman that shot him...heavens no! Give me a break. |

Just watched that video. I knew there was a reason I have never even so much as driven into a Walmart parking lot. I was taught as a young kid that if you even so much as touch a police officer, expect a well deserved beat down. Reach for his gun? Push up daisies. One of my friends could not grasp the fact that you don't touch them, don't provoke them and certainly don't interfere when they are trying to do their job. As a result he has spent many nights in jail with bloody clothes. It takes a brilliant mind to harass a group of cops giving someone a speeding ticket and not expect to be taken to jail. |
