It ...... And I've become accustomed to these ....,,, is a wild story. I'll share details down the road ..... There's a lesson to be learned from my stupidity and hardheadedness. Short story is I was found unconscious early in the morning. Awoke in an ambulance and have been making LOTS of new friends here over the course of the last 8 days of touch and go. I still look like a trackside data acquisition system but have recovered sufficiently that I'm shipping for guitars to greet me at home and share the recovery. Hoping to meet them ...,,, rather than my maker ..., soon. It's hell growing old ..,,, |

My father has told me repeatedly to stay young for as long as I can. I'm doing my best, but various parts of me are not cooperating. Glad you're OK Court. Stay young. |

Damn...um...well...call me if you get bored. I've been there (as we know), so just take a lesson from me - remain too stubborn to quit Seriously - hope you're OK. Drop me a line or give a ring when you get a chance, curious what's going on. Do what the docs say, and don't pinch any nurses! |

Kinda caught the gist of things you've posted lately, sure hope you're on the up and up. You CAN'T croak yet, dammit... after all, HOW many times have you said... "Remind me to tell you sometime..." Seriously- Godspeed to your recovery, whatever the heck it is. |

Yeah, go ahead and finish those stories you've promised to tell; it's not as if you're busy right now. Seriously though, take the advice of your caregivers and get well soon. |

Thank you Simply ...... Thank you. You folks are pretty much the family. We argue, play get angry and always come through. For those of you who have families around you ...,, you can never know the pain of having to respond to the "is there someone we can call?".... With a "no". In a nanosecond you're held accountable for and are faced to stare in the eye ..,,, all the bad decisions you've made. I arrived here in a bit of a tizzy. There was no trip to the admissions desk ..,, but a clock counting down the time for the contrast to work so they could view CT scans while headed to the OR at double time. We, as a group, tend to slough this stuff off. We've spent our lives doing foolish things ... Letting bruise heal or the bone mend and we're right back at it. That was my initial impression .... I fully intended to be headed on the 2 hour drive to my office in the Hudson Valley. But .... At about that time ..,, they were summoning an additional Surgeon and extending the OR reservation by 2 hours. The shit had truly hit the fan this time. Even when I awoke I'm thinking "it's a 2 hour walk home to get my car and I'll carry on with the day" (ignoring the fact that I arrived in but skivvies and an EBR shirt) The the Doctor arrives and my fuzzy begins assuming real world focus. "You aren't a Green Beret by chance?" ....."no, sir ex-Marine". Then he asked "how long have you been having pain? After a minute or two he's telling me you had to be in crippling pain for at least 3 days. I told him it was bad but until I started the conclusions and passed out when it got unbearable ...,,, I was (am) an idiot. In retrospect I'd probably seen all the signs and simply chalked it up to pain after running 10k next month) or indigestion. The upshot was that I was not, at the moment, in a hell of a lot better shape than I was pre surgery. My guts, even after a couple hours of repeated inflation with carbon dioxide and repeated flushing were demolished and every sort of bacteria imaginable was basically starting a beach party in my gut. For the next 4 days temps swung wildly over 103.6, then back toward normal and blood work reports looked more like remnants from Matisse Cut-outs. The epic battle between good and evil was taking place just below the surface of my considerable girth. Time .... Tide and 6 pharmaceutical companies has since colluded to start realigning the paranenium planets. I got the "we let you outta here and there's anything we missed septic shock will hit you like a .308 to the temple. You're staying.... The 6 tubes stay and you'll be leaving here with a PICC line and spending 3 to 6 months having a home health aide continue. But ..,. In the last 24 hours things made a great turn and they started seeing amazing blood work. Apparently my innards, complemented with this host of wonder drugs finally got oussed enough to kick some serious bacterial ass. While the team here has handled the medical ..... A couple long time Buell buddies have kept me afloat. Looks like tomorrow .... Finally ..... Is the day. The timing couldn't be better. The attorneys called and all the paperwork for my new company (No Indian partners) is prepared and a good friend's record label is debuting her new CD in The Village tomorrow night. By Friday I'll be rejoined with my helicopter crews ...... But you can get your ass .... In the spectator mode for a while. Thanks to ya'll for your kind words and support. There's a lot me to say ....... All together now ....."Remind me to tell you sometime". Court P.S. - the secrets are safe. I briefed one Badwebber tonight in the details about some things currently going on. Should I not wake ..... Your info is stored in the memory banks of a fellow jarhead. |

I feel for you court - when my gall bladder let go a few years ago I had to give the same answer to the "who can we call" question. Its an eye opener. But, that was a few years back. I have a couple new incision scars from it, my diet changed a bit...but I swung back and am still ornery as ever, still kickin, and still having a hell of a life. You will be too, soon, as long as you listen to the docs (hard for me to do, too, I feel for ya!) and pay attention to your symptoms from here out. We're not done with you yet, mister!!! |

Sometimes, Life throws nothing but foul balls. You've got one of the most compassionate and helpful groups of people who are truly "Different in every sense" pulling for you. The love and positive energy that's generated by this assembly can overcome the toughest of trials. I know this both from observing others here and from my own personal experience. Hang in there; we're with you! |

The older I get, the less stupid everyone around me seems. Life is impossible to do "right". So its just a matter of always trying to do your best at the next decision in front of you, and having grace for everyone around you and the decisions they make. It is likewise important (but really hard) to accept other peoples grace when our best wasn't our best. Life is really hard, but it's really good too. |

I guess it's a fact that once you pass ~40, you simultaneously have more pains you have to ignore (with new ones almost every week!) while the risk of ignoring an IMPORTANT pain skyrockets. Sounds like a close shave but glad you're on the road to recovery. |
