If the Second Amendment only applies to muskets, then the First Amendment only applies to quill pens and slate boards. The Framers were creating a nation. Their hope was that it would survive long enough for technology to advance. The document created was designed to allow for the advancement fully expected (and already seen in the time of the Framers). Weren't Jefferson and Franklin inventors? Surely they would have understood changing technologies. No one here is really interested in the opinions of a non-citizen as to the validity of our Constitution or the rights it protects (from the government). I don't need to watch the video to know what is being stated, if against the Second Amendment, I know it's garbage. You run your country, we'll run ours. | ||

"What folks are up in arms?" "Up in arms" is an idiom. It means people are upset. In this case, they're upset about a comedian from another country mocking our Constitution and the Bill of Rights with the intention of swaying public opinion in favor of unconstitutional laws that further infringe upon the 2nd amendment. You've been shown considerable grace by those who moderate this board. As for what I said to you above, I really don't care if it gets under your skin. I directly addressed your silly assertions. 1) that the founders weren't bright enough to foresee advancing technologies, and 2) that "arms" somehow means muskets. Both are ridiculous. It's equally ridiculous to claim you didn't make those assertions. If you really want a private discussion with Ourdee, then do it privately. | ||

You seem to think that posts on a bulletin board are private communications between two people. Think again as this is a public forum where everyone's peaceful discourse is welcome. You publicly threatened bodily harm on this board and you will be held accountable. You seem to get upset easily. You really need to find a way to get your emotions under control. Sifo. If I recall. Any threat came while we were private messaging each other. I offered to give you a face wash on the board. You offered to bring a gun. That is when the PM's started. In the end Sifo, I thought I was dealing with a punk. Not some old man. I know that if things ever came to blows between you and me it wouldn't even be a contest. I thought I was dealing with a physical equal. You are not. I think being called "simple minded" as Sifo has implied is an insult. I doubt very much, that man to man, Sifo would speak to me in the same manner. I am only asking for the same respect on this board that Sifo would afford me in person. | ||

Fat Bastard. Any sane person in Canada can own a gun. It's not like the United States bill of rights is unique in granting that freedom. As a matter of fact the second amendment to your constitution is based on english common law and the English Bill of Rights which preceded the second amendment by about 100 years. The history of gun control in the U.S. is the history of slavery. The first gun laws were to disarm the blacks. The next wave was to disarm blacks now free, because the action arm of the Democrat Party, the KKK, didn't like getting shot at when they went a-lynching and burning crosses. Every subsequent wave has either been aimed at minorities, or been an extension of the fake new aristocracy of the leftist/Marxist insurgency in the 20th century. Bottom line is, the founders of this Great Nation had sought to avoid the types of infringements on individual rights that has gone on in places like that comedian's home country, which also secures a government of the people, for the people. Those that work for us, and many foreign nations, happen to be against that, and have been indoctrinated against our founding ideals for a lifetime. | ||

It secures preexisting rights granted to us by our creator. Rights that are unalienable. Government can not take away what it did not grant. The wording of the Constitution was not an accident. Canada's government may grant their citizens the right to have a gun, but our government does not. The US Constitution simply states that these unalienable rights can not be infringed upon by the government. Make sense now? | ||
