Well spring is almost here in Northern Michigan, I walked out of the house at 6am to almost bare ground, started to snow around 10am by noon we had 1 1/2" OF THAT WHITE CRAP ON THE GROUND. I am so ready to ride! I'm planing a group ride with friends from Northern Michigan and Southern Ohio to ride in second week of June up into New York and the England states. I've picked up MadMaps for those areas, but I'm hoping folks from those areas might be willing to share a few of your "must ride" areas! Thanks for your "contribution" in advance! | ||

In the Finger Lakes region, avoid "East or West Lake road". These are the main feeder roads, going North & South, along the lakes, in an area of long hills and valleys. Heavy traffic, and lovely views of the lake, with car drivers watching the pretty water, Not for you. Ride the roads on the ridges. The views are better, the traffic less distracted, and there are less, but not no, speed traps. Winery tours are great, but not when riding, go with a DD or on a bus tour. There's a Dinosaur BBQ in Rochester and Syracuse NY. mention your trip again before you go, I'll have better ideas by then. | ||

Depending how you want to head east Rt. 9 across Vermont or Rt. 2 across northern Ma.. Both roads have long stretches of moderate twisties and small towns with great places to eat. | ||

Checked out web site: www.motorcycleroads.com they have a few rides that look promising. Finger Lakes area looks like some good riding. I may have been "spoiled" a bit by riding many of the great roads in the n/s Carolina, West Virginia, Deals Gap etc.. Just trying to see new parts of this great country on two wheels with good friends. Thanks for the tips, I will scope out your suggestions and put em the list. Keep those recommendations coming! | ||

The roads around the Finger Lakes aren't particularly challenging but they sure are pretty. Bring a camera and take the time to take pictures! | ||

Route 100 in Vermont has an awful lot of super tight corners. If you can work in the Green Mountains of Vermont and the White Mountains of New Hampshire you'll be in for a nice trip. | ||

Just had a fellow rider visit upper New York area, Lake Placid etc. and said the roads are all tore up and in terrible condition form the harsh winter up there. He also said the police are as thick as molasses there as well, that cannot end well! Anybody from New York and or New England states have any good news about the road condition. If the roads are that freakin' bad, we will be headed down to W. Virginia and the Carolina's instead! I'm ready to get the EBR 1190SX Laguna Blue smokin' down the road in the twisties somewhere soon! It's still freakin' cold here in northern Michigan!  | ||

We had 5 hours above freezing the.month of Feb. Total. So the roads locally aren't bad. For here. Normally we have freeze thaw all winter and they crater bad. It is paving season though. I repeat. Avoid west lake rd & east lake rd in the finger lakes. ( original, huh? They all use those names.) See post above. Also be aware a road around here changes names from town to village. Gps is a good idea. | ||

89 along Cayuga lake isn't bad, west side of Seneca lake is hell. Iv almost been cleared out twice by wine tour limos. 48 along the top of Oneida lake is pretty cool | ||

Gee, a bunch of us are heading up to Lake Placid this weekend, there better be some passable roads. Keep and eye on the ADK IV posts, I'm sure we'll have a report after wards. | ||
