I've been wanting a sport touring bike for awhile and finally got a 2001 triumph sprint st from firemanJim. I've only rode Buell So it's a lot of fun experiencing something different. The power band is like the xb, it doesn't matter what gear it always got power. The longer wheel base is very stable a little slower on the lean in. The bags are nice but I'm not sure about splitting lanes with them until I get a little more saddle time. And yes, I'm keeping my XB too lollol sorry I forgot how to load a pic |

Ummm, dunno. I picked up some new footpegs from my friends today, they're having a local RAT coffee on Saturday... I'll try to make it, but rain and regular work hours work against me... |

My post didn't take. I'd go for a Sprint sub forum even though there are other sites for it. |

I got the Yellow Banana (02 Sprint) out today for a freeze your ass off kind of ride. It doesn't have the character of the Buell (few things do) but I think it'll make for a better long distance, two up bike which is really what I bought it for. The gear spacing seems to be ridiculously close together so I'll have to go up one tooth on the countershaft sprocket right off the bat. Now if only the weather would warm up... |

Steve- I had a ball on mine at Glitchfest! I've learned to either stay out of the throttle, or not to change gears- mine gains velocity at a scary pace! On a twisty road like Wolf Pen Gap, changing gears isn't necessary- 3rd gear gets most of it done. Gotta wonder about your gearing comment though, mine seems spot-on... given the model difference, they might've seen fit to shorten it a bit on yours. The only bummer that happened on my trip was the fuel level sensor seemed to have crapped out on me- this caused the engine fault light to come on, with the low fuel light on all the time now and the fuel gauge needle on E all the time (grrrrr)... the good news out of the whole thing is that after about 6ish starts after this happened, the engine check light stopped coming on, maybe a self-correcting feature... So, given a dead fuel gauge, I just watch my tripmeter to decide when to fill up. I've got close to 180 miles range, so I fill up shortly after 150, NBD. And, conveniently, my new Two Wheels of Suches decal fits perfectly over the dead gauge, after a slight border trim! Gonna glue a pretty marble or something over the perpetually on low fuel light. |
