"Has anyone mentioned Wolf Pen gap has BRAND NEW PAVEMENT!!! Maybe we should bring some brooms!"
"You're a good man, Charlie Brown!!"
Awesome news! I've been on TN`129, NC 130 (IIRC, north/south from Asheville to Lake Lure) right after they've been paved... I loves me a wicked, twisted road!
Awww- looks like they lost all the kitchy stuff out on the deck. I guess that's to be expected...
Can't see if they still have those comfy-type chairs on the front porch, somehow plopping down in an Adirondack chair after a hot lap was just- awesome.
Not to nit-pick, just glad that the new owners are making a go of it!
We've FINALLY got sun!! And, temps in the 50's, going to low 60's tomorrow!!
YEEHAAA!!!
Then, rain ALL week next week.
Hoping Ma Nature is just emptying the buckets prior to our trip... PURTY PLEASE, MA!!!
"Britt and GT had to remove everything to satisfy the land owner when they vacated."
Yeah, I remember hearing about that. No telling how much memorabilia got hauled out... hope they got to keep the important stuff. My friend Megan told me that she was the one who hung the rubber squid over the cash register inside...
They sold most of it.They needed the money more than the stuff, but most of it went to friends.I got a few pieces myself, including two rockers off the porch.
Wowsers- after the time change, got a SUNNY day coming, temps in the upper 50's-60's, then another dry but cloudy day Monday, same temps. Gotta get out and "reboot" my sportbike reflexes... in other words, take it easy, but quick!
I dunno if I thought of this first, or if it's just a paraphrase...

75 right now! Instead of riding I'm grilling some steaks. Having a little happening before Cody has to shove off. He's leaving tomorrow at noon. I'm so ready for the Madness!
Oh and I talked to Kristie, she's just about as ready as we are!
Had a nice turnout at Two Wheels today. The only gravel I encountered on 60 was north from Suches to the Suches Creek bridge. The rain to come this week should help clean the remaining gravel. Mary would like a roll call for Friday night dinner at Two Wheels. She needs it by Monday the 16th. to turn in her order.
Man, I heard that a riding buddy of mine from Atlanta had a bad crash this weekend, I'd guess somewhere around Suches. He rides an Aprilia (I believe an older RSV). He's in the ICU in Gainesville. He's expected to be OK, but he's got a tough row to hoe while the figure out how to patch him up.
Hate to hear that, Hugh... I'm quite mindful that I'm on a new(ish) machine, with lots more power than my old XB- almost tempted to roll down on the '77 R75/7, just to HAVE to go slow.
But, the Triumph has the best tires, handling, and stuff.
Well you gents take it easy out there. I wasn't able to get vacation changed, we pick a year in advance, but I did put in for October so I'm hoping there is a Buelltoberfest, since that's the plan!
Somebody mentioned that the gravel will be washed away by the rain but it's been my experience down there that the water brings the gravel onto the road! I'd ride a section one way and check out the corners and then blast it the other way if it's good!

I found out a little more about my friend's (John) crash last weekend. Apparently he was riding on highway 9 (it goes through Dahlonega) with a buddy. Another rider tried to pass John at high speed on the inside of a curve. This rider lost it, took out John, went off-road and was killed when he hit a tree.
John has a bruised lung, broken collarbone, and one broken vertebra in his neck, but he is expected to make a full recovery. Knowing him, he was probably wearing racing leathers and it sounds like it was a good thing.
I was definitely looking forward to chasing you around again! Maybe I can finally get my ass down to Arkansas this Summer and I can chase you around down there!
Hey Hugh, sorry to hear about your friend. Sounds like the same idiot squids that took a left hand apex, IN MY LANE! If I hadn't lined up for a really late apex it would have been head on! Damn California kids on ninja's wearing shorts and sandals! It's truly sad when we have to watch out for our fellow riders!
