Bump- I've PM'ed Thumper to see if he'd want to split a cabin rental... depending on the occupancy numbers, other folks attending might be able to shack up too... so, whomever would like to combine efforts to secure a cabin rental, holla! Just went to their site...FWIW, they list rental rates for the cabins at $55/day, cabins have two twin beds- I looked and found nothing that states maximum occupancy, so should anyone wish to do a sleeping bag on the floor or take a sofa (if there is one), costs could be much more affordable. With daily campsite rates at $15 (IIRC they were a fair amount lower with GT and Britt), the cabins look like the way to go. | ||

OK, running out of bait cuttin' time, let's FISH... I'm gonna reserve either a cabin or a lodge room VERY soon. Got to talk with the owners there to determine what the amenities are in those dinky little shacks- I'm doubting there's much of anything at all to allow for cooking in those, where for the same $ to rent a lodge room, I'd have access to a full kitchen, and I could cook up a few meals whilst staying there, or at least fix easy stuff like sammiches and such. Yes, the cabins and lodge rooms book for the same $$$, $55.00/night. So, to me it'd be more bang for the buck to do the lodge and have a party area plus the full kitchen. Mark (Wolfridgerider) and I split a room at the lodge a few years back, and the whole setup was very nice- without interior pics of those cabins, I have no idea what they're like, but from the pics available, they are VERY Spartan. NOW'S THE TIME. Anyone interested in splitting a lodge room or cabin, holler at me ASAP. I'm sending TWoS an email after this post, already sent a voicemail. LET'S GITERDUUUN!!! | ||

Another thing: The time window to get a T-shirt design figured out and produced is shrinking too... who's got a handle on this? I know everyone's life gets full of things to do, but I'm pretty sure we'll NEED a T-shirt to commemorate the event... Does the T-shirt issue need its own thread? (Pun intended!) | ||

BUMP!!! C'MON, SPRINGTIME!!! Allright- I just spoke with Mary at TWoS, she's penciled me in to rent Lodge Room #3- this room has one queen and two twin beds. So, at this point I'm looking for 2 other peeps to join me and split the cost of the room. Given the cabins rent for the same $$$ without the common area and kitchenette (some modest food prep could happen, PLUS a fridge is available), it seems obvious that this is the way to go. I'll be getting back to her by the end of the week- at this writing I have NOT put down a deposit, don't want to leave her/me hanging, so, folks, HOLLA!!!  FWIW, at this writing she also had the cabin at the back of the property available, also Lodge room #1. Sounds like things are filling up pretty quick! LET'S GITERDUUUUN!!! | ||

David at Riders Hill told me today that EBR has a Sprinter van and that his rep is going to bring it with demo bikes to the Glitch Extravaganza! Also Bill Johnson of Two Wheels of Suches fame told me they are very close to having four more bunkhouse cabins ready for rental. | ||

Bump, dammit, BUMP! I'm SOOO over this weather. Watched "World's Fastest Indian" and "Why We Ride" last nite, while the world around me remains frozen with temps in the teens... Anyone wonder if the streaming services do any surreptitious editing to their movies? I swear that I remembered certain scenes in "WFI" differently. Back OT- I'm gonna call TWoS today and reserve lodge room #3. I'm sure there will be a few late-joiners, I'll have 2 additional beds available in that room for the first to get in touch with me. | ||

Micah, it'd be great to have ya! What about "Mini-Me"? He'd be welcome too... I did call Mary at TWoS, I've still got the room- she's snowed in like I am right now. I'll call her next week and give her my CC#. Truly, I'd really rather camp, except for these reasons: 1- The Triumph has fairly limited cargo capacity- I could do it much better if I had a Ventura pack like on my XB... 2- There's a good chance I'll head to Nashville Monday with Graham, Tim, et al, it'd be a pain to lug all that crap around, ESPECIALLY if I'm trying to keep up with Tim 3- Weather IS always a wild card in the deck- I'd do fine carrying rain gear and other essentials, having to deal with tent camping in the rain is XTRA craptastic... 4- The benefits of a kitchenette and living area ABOVE the main restaurant/gathering area, with restrooms, is a huge plus... Remember, Buelltoberfest was conceived as a better-weather alternative to March Badness- I'm thrilled to be coming, but things would have to be a little different to tent camp. Might try that later in the year if I could ride the old Airhead down. | ||

Brad, Mini Me is out this year. He is in a private school and has a very small number of days he can miss without the risk of not completing the courses. He has chosen a trip with me later in the year. Btw, he is 14 now and stands as tall as me. It looks funny with the two of us on the same bike. I have decided to ride out on my R1200RTp. It also has limited cargo space in the current config. I would prefer to ride and camp, but it's a fairly long trip from AR to GA, so I can make better time if I ride and hotel it. I would rather spend the time with the Buellers, fire pits and mash. I remember at MBIII when my father and I had the only dry ground with tents after the flood let loose the second day. Poor Smoke behind us was cooking his lunch when the flood hit and drowned his stove and such. I guess I will bring my industrial pair of ear plugs for the symphony of snores that will wrap up the fire pit festivities each night. I surely will be contributing to the symphony. | ||

I will be hauling my bike up there in my van, even though I only live an hour from Suches. THEREFORE, I will be hauling up a lot of bottled water, charcoal, and other bulky stuff. If anybody needs anything specific, please let me know and I'll take reimbursement on delivery. Or something. | ||

Oh yeah- anyone here care to figure out the Tshirt gig? Maybe a custom ball-cap hat would be easier, or sumthin. I know it has to be a headache getting preorders for shirts, getting $$$, and placing the silkscreen order, then carrying/distributing/collecting $$$...  I'd be happy with a hat. | ||

I did the T-shirts for Buells in the Alps (BITA) IV through Customink. It actually went pretty well, but the price varied inversely with the number of T-shirts you ordered. I figured the price based on the initial interest, then a lot more people ordered T-shirts, which drove the price down, which resulted in me sending refunds to a bunch of people. If people had known the actual price up front, I'm sure more would have been sold, which would have made the price even lower. What a Catch-22!. I actually still have 2 T-shirts ordered by a Badwebber shortly before the meet who didn't show up to collect them, who hasn't responded to repeated e-mails, and who hasn't posted on Badweb since last July. I'm guessing something bad happened to him after he ordered his T-shirts.  So anyway, I highly recommend Customink, but I am NOT volunteering to do T-shirts for MB (whichever one this is)! | ||

Jeremy- that's Craptastic!!! (C) We're still a month out- if you make it Saturday, you're welcome to the third bed I've reserved at TWoS that night and Sunday, gratis. I'm pretty sure Micah's got the other bed. If nothing else, we've REALLY gotta plan Monday and Tuesday, and work in a reservation on the Nashville Pedal Tavern, with the rest of the local miscreants.  |
