Im not asking for "well BMC says the seat height for the Uly is...." but real world, how much difference is there in seat height between the two bikes?
I know the width of the seat will come into play, as a wider seat spreads the legs more, increasing reach.

Ive been thinking about Ulys lately and wondering if they will be too tall for me (30" inseam)

Uly XT, or XB12SS/STT. IIRC they all had the same hard components, but had different seats and junk.

You should be able to find one that fits.

The Uly is a world class bike and if you have to wear disco shoes to ride it... do so. If you ride dirt bikes... don't sweat it. My 2006 almost had me on tippy toes but no worse than my Honda XR400. My 2009 Uly is two inches lower and I can flat foot it. My inseam is 32".

You will LOVE the Uly.

I have a 29" inseam and rode my '06 Uly for a couple of months with the stock '06 seat.It was tall.I could slide over and plant one foot with the other on the peg or have both down on tip toes. That '06 seat was the most comfortable seat I have ever ridden in 48 years of riding.I bit the bullet and ordered the '07 seat which was quite a bit lower and tapered at the front,I then put a Lightning Long shock on it,raised the forks to make it level and came up with the same seat height they used on the XT.

Hybrid- the 1125R seat is definitely a little lower. I had an 1125CR and I still have a Uly.

I have a 30 inch inseam and have ridden this 2007 Uly since late 2006. On level pavement, I can usually get my left foot down flat but pavement is rarely dead level. Usually I've just got the ball of my left foot down at a stop. I can get toes firmly down on left and right in most situations.

A Uly definitely takes some adjustment, but it's certainly workable for a short-legged guy.

Any remedies to 'fix' the height issue?
I dont like the idea of only having one foot down, I've been in situations where there is something slick in the road and I'd hate to rely on one foot/side to discover that there is some oil down on that side. etc

Real world experience here as I've owned two ulys and two 1125s.

The XT is little taller than the 1125, not much, I'd say an inch tops. The X is significantly taller, I would not recommend it, like you said single footing sucks, and was the number one cause of my drops.

If the 1125 height is non issue, the XT likely is fine out of the box. The accessory low seat lowers it a hair more and toucan swap in the 06 lightning long suspension to drop it further.

Yeah Im good with the 1125R, no issues flatfooting it (or being dang close to it, depending on the road/how flat things are)

Like Froggy said, the best solution is find an XT. I've sat on one and it's a much easier reach for me than my X.

If you want to modify an X, you can install XT forks and shock (best choice- new parts will set you back about $1k if you can find them) and various other XB rear shocks can be used but you lose the remote adjuster. Someone makes a lowering collar for the rear spring; you can use this in back and raise the forks in front for the cheapest lowering solution.

I have an '06X and I use the stock seat some times with an air pad even. My inseam is 31 to 32 depending on the weather. I have a pair of riding boots that have a half inch of sole thickness and a pair with just over one inch thickness.

The difference in the sole thickness is very noticeable. If I wear the thicker boots for a time, then go back to the more ventilated lighter summer boot, I really notice the difference as I am stopping.

I can't answer that question for you.
But I will say, only if you believe it is... too tall.
I had the same concern when first scoping the Ulysses.
But considering I haven't been able to flat foot or even "ball foot" a dirt bike since the late '70s.
I threw caution to the wind and bought the Ulysses.
It's really not a problem, long as you maintain situational awareness.

Me, 30" inseam, owned/ridden my '06 Ulysses since May of '06. Never done a "laugh-in" tip over.

30" inseam

No problems.

Couple tip overs and the gorgeous design of the bags makes them zero consequence events.

32" here. I could flat foot the 1125 but hated the angle my back was at. XT made me use the balls of my feet. Lowering the XT with a collar made the bike give up too much of that lovely suspension. Had me bottoming out accelerating out of corners.
