Useful Idiots? Apparently incapable of reasoned discussion. And utterly ignorant of the past? A call for the strong leader to take control? ( the formula used for centuries to exploit the fearful ) National Socialist Workers Party...... pretty much sums up bad ideas on history. I thank Australia for Nicole Kidman. Didn't know they grew wicked pot. ( or do they import it from Thailand? ) |

http://news.yahoo.com/erdogan-blasts-netanyahu-dar ing-attend-paris-rally-185208445.html Turkey is well on it's way to losing all human rights under Erdogan. He does have a nice new palace. Or fortress. Compound? Whatever. Turkey is in deep doo. http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/8e9e4ac6-9a6e-11e4-8426- 00144feabdc0.html#axzz3OfCKH33G High quality global journalism requires investment. Pray for the Turks. http://www.washingtonpost.com/world/europe/far-rig ht-in-europe-sees-opportunity-after-wave-of-terror -in-france/2015/01/12/94cb5fdc-99e3-11e4-86a3-1b56 f64925f6_story.html Since we don't actually have a far right in the U.S., but they do in Europe, this is..... troubling. the closest we come to "far right" seems to be isolated nazis, ( actually leftist ) and "Christian Conservatives" which are actually centrist and aside from a few really annoying ones, easy to get along with, and a second tier power base. Since, until Sharia becomes law, and I am murdered by the Keepers Of Public Virtue, I can tell any religious nut to go have sex with themselves, I'm not really concerned with the few really annoying "Christian Conservatives".... You know, the hung up on sex types. Not anything like a neo-nazi rally in Germany would concern me. http://news.yahoo.com/german-anti-islam-rally-draw s-record-25-000-213114541.html https://ca.news.yahoo.com/merkel-says-islam-belong s-germany-ahead-dresden-rally-171632978.html This is some messed up stuff. Despite Merkel's fake solidarity with Muslims, and what looks like fear based idiocy to me, it's heartening that there are rational counter demonstrations. Germany has a bunch of racist laws, if you move there from anywhere, unless you are "ethnically German" you really don't have full rights. "ethnically German" is hilarious from a historical perspective, as Germany is one of those cross roads where everyone has marched though on the way to somewhere else. Huns, Vikings, Romans, 57 varieties of steppe dwellers that rode down from the wild lands to strike civilization..... These laws are leftovers from Hitler's day, as are prohibitions on home schooling and weird anti-religious laws. It's actually easy to see how a guy who split from Turkey to get a job at the Mercedes plant could get angry at not being German enough, no matter how much he assimilates. http://zeenews.india.com/news/world/anti-islamist- pegida-surfaces-in-switzerland_1529031.html Sweden too is starting to get upset at the lack of assimilation, and growing "no-go zones". |

and finally, the Jihadi/exploiter king of Turkey blames the massacre on the French, claiming they are blaming Muslims.... Funny, the terrorist attacks in Thailand were also blamed on the Thai government's response to terror attacks in Thailand. http://asia.nikkei.com/Politics-Economy/Policy-Pol itics/Unrest-in-Muslim-south-largely-political-leg acy Somehow, it's all Thaksin Shinawatra's fault that muslims in Thailand are violent insurgents. Ridiculous statements, completely off topic, with no purpose other than to stir up anger. Had you said, Russia controls much of the Ukraine through subversion, I would have bought that one. |

You have a fundamental misunderstanding of our 1st amendment. It does not protect you from the free speech rights of others when you make asinine, often unintelligible, remarks. It was originally intended to prevent the government from imprisoning you for speaking out against the government. Intervening decades of idiot judges have warped its original meaning, and we've come to understand that it allows you to stand on the corner and hurl epithets at passersby, which is what you're effectively doing. We have every right, under our new understanding of the 1st amendment, to question your intentions, and ridicule your incomprehensible posts. |

"I am Charlie." No, you're not. No one has issued any death threats against you. Your antagonistic posts have nothing to do with free speech in the way that the folks at that magazine practiced it. Their lives were on the line, and they knew it. You are completely safe, and you know it. That's not courage. |

To expand on my previous post... "It was originally intended to prevent the government from imprisoning you for speaking out against the government" See Russia, China, and all those other countries you seem so enamored with. They don't have free speech. See the difference? Although, to be fair, Russia doesn't imprison their political dissidents any longer (unless you're a musical act) they simply dose them with radioactive poison and have done with it. |

quote:I was forgetting your news is edited.
You are drifting dangerously close to the truth Alfau. Our news is edited, as is your news, and both our editors and your editors have a strong bias that they can try to mask, but that they can never remove. If you want the truth, look for truth in a diversity of biased reports. Even then it can get hard to find, as while bias is easy, good reporting is hard, and it is getting rarer and rarer. |

Be advised, The Guardian is a liberal/left leaning British broadsheet newspaper & The Daily Telegraph is it's right wing equivalent. Neither provide unbiased opinion. Oh & Alfau you might get a dire rear if you suffer from a bout of diarrhea, but a kick up the arse could engender a similar effect. Germany does not control Europe it has a greater influence than most other European nations I grant you but it's a long way from control. Memories are still fresh in Europe & neighbours & partners wouldn't let it happen. |

The invasion continues but all you hear on the news involves ball pressure. It's enough to make you a conspiracy believing nut, especially knowing the current U.S. regime actually does tell their tame media what the days mantra is. But it's really just like 1938 and the massive denial that led to that installment of the war on Republics.... ( some historians now consider the 20th century one long war.... ) |
