I wish we were standing face to face when we were having these little discussions. I'd like to look you right in the eye and see what kind of dude you really are. You are some tough guy. Are you going to punch me in my teeth like you threatened Sifo? You need to publicly apologize to Badweb or go away. You are a liability to Badweb which could be sued for allowing your threatening behavior. The administrators better take your threats seriously. |

Do people still really resort to physical threats when they are loosing an argument? I can't think of a better way to prove I've lost an argument, and done so with a total lack of self awareness, intellectual honesty, and any ability to improve myself. I don't think many liberals understand that many old conservatives were young liberals. Winston Churchill had it right. Dave Guess not withstanding. He is an old (and I think thoughtful) liberal. There are a few others here as well. I don't blame them for laying low, but I always appreciate new perspectives they can bring, and times when they show me I am wrong about something. |

>>>Maybe we should take things off the board to discuss. Don't act like a child. Badweb is big and big enough to insure a variety of opinions are represented. No two people hold opinions as diverse as Dave Gess and I. I love Dave like a brother and one reason is that he opens my eyes to a lot of things. Even though I may not agree with him I know he is smart, has a heart of gold and his opinions are thoughtful. He has robbed me of the luxury of being able to simply being able to dismiss someone who holds an opinion different from my own, as a "dummy stupy face doo-doo pie" Dave and I have throated to wrestle in sequined singlets but have never . . . in better than 3 decades punched each other in the nose. I'm right on the verge of "rising" him . . . . . NOT. :-) |

You know Court, if I suggest to someone to move a discussion off the board it's none of your business. I have no idea why you would even have an opinion. If I would rather talk on the phone directly to someone to clear up a matter then that is my preference. I've got a business, a wife and four little kids that occupy most of my time. I would much rather discuss a point over the phone and have something addressed in minutes than have something drag out over days or weeks on BadWeb. Some of you guys have tons of time it seems to post on this board. Presently, I don't. |

Yet... you have the time to threaten Badweb members by knocking their teeth out. Badweb is a family, sometimes a tight family, which you do not appreciate. Apologize to the Badweb family or hit the dusty trail. That said, you are welcome here but your current behavior is simply unacceptable. Your choice, greatlaker. I suggest you read the Glitch threads if you haven't already done so. We are a family. You are free to join and encouraged to do so. (Message edited by reindog on December 20, 2014) |

I have no idea why you would even have an opinion. Exactly, you have no idea! Oh, welcome to BadWeb. I missed you coming in the door. Don't let it catch you on the way out. I feel your family's pain. Legal Notice: Just my opinion. |

I always get a chuckle when people post on an open and public discussion forum, and then whine about it being none of somebodies business when they get a response. |

"con el tiempo a tu favor" I had to laugh at that one. Translates to "with time in your favor". Yeah, maybe if you're a redwood tree. If you're a repressed citizen, not so much. |

Aesquire, these were taken in, Havana, Cienfuegos, Camaguey, Trinidad and several other areas. I guess the whole island is a Potemkin Village. And yeah the picture of the Capitol really drives home your point. (Message edited by tod662 on December 21, 2014) (Message edited by tod662 on December 22, 2014) |

Most old timers there prefer Castro to Batista's time when foreign corporations controlled much of the Island, for better or worse it will be overran by consumerism before long. There will be a different form of government soon. |

Likely the 51st state. We the Soviets effectively neutered and the Cuban economy in a shambles .,... It'd be a nice place to buy, clean up and put the next DisneyVerse. |

That would be pretty cool. Make a "standing invitation" for Cuba to become a US state if they can successfully declare independence and have a majority vote to join the US. Then see what they can and want to do. |

Most old timers there prefer Castro to Batista's time Is that anything like preferring to be badly burned by a butane torch instead of a propane torch? You seem to be ignoring the fact that under what you claim to be the "preferred" dictator, people were risking their lives in foolish ways to flee Castro's cuba. |

Thanks for the pics. Court, the New Soviet seems to be on the rise. Many people in the Soviet Union told tourists how it was better than the Czars. Otherwise you disappear. |

good analogy Sifo you are correct, but our government was ok with Batistas dictatorship, and under what I believe could be called a free market economy (as much as ours is) most people were even worse off. Related to the people leaving, what does it say about our government that we created the worlds biggest no mans land. If people are picked up at sea, they are carted back to the island, if they make it to land they are free to stay. (its alittle more complex but that's the gust of it) So we set up a situation where we offer this huge reward but at extreme risk. Here is one that will make a few of your heads spin- I believe in the future we will look back at this and say that Obama freed 11 million people. And if you disagree and think he is propping up a dictator, Im willing to bet a bike im right, within 10 years there will be a different form of government . And I can say with pretty good authority that many Cubans have a very unrealistic view of America. It could be quite frustrating to try to explain the concept of bills, they hear a huge hourly wage and tuned out if you try to explain the cost of living. (most jobs there pay 20-30 dollars a month but housing, utilities and food (all very rudimentary) are all payed for). |

And I can say with pretty good authority And I'm curious what that authority is. Please do tell us. As for a new form of government with in 10 years, and attributing this to BO... What could possibly make you claim this? There's nothing in this deal that is likely to lead in that direction. Please explain. |

Sorry I don't want to elaborate on that, (yeah yeah the guy wanting facts isn't giving them) but I think you guys are smart enough to see what I am insinuating. And the government statement was to cut off all the arguments to the contrary that are being thrown around by conservative pundits (and im pretty sure on this board). |

So you say that Cubans have been lied to by their Cult of personality Masters and don't understand the rest of the planet? You are correct. ( except the ones who risk torture and death to listen to free radio ) So have all the progressives not in leadership positions in the rest of the planet. Lies are the stock in trade for leftists. |
