I sent CarLost, Kristi and Brankin a text last night- I'm going to stay in NC today. I haven't gone over the bike in prep for the trip and it's going to be a beautiful day to spend the afternoon with the soon to be 1 year old. I'm going to chase Ferris around the mountains for a few hours this morning, so we'll all at least be in the wind today.
Be safe out there, best roads always!

I'm back home after another soggy 300 mile ride. I figure I've ridden about 900 miles in the rain on various trips back and forth to Suches, but it's always worth it. It was great catching up with everyone, especially Dave and Ann.
We really need to keep this as a regular event. |

Hugh- you're a beast!
I was complaining about riding down Friday in mist/drizzle, NOT quite rain- just enough to make me wish for less precip a few miles ahead, again and again...
I put the rain covers on the bags in Copper Hill, easy, then figured to head down GA60 and beat the rain... just got dirty, but not wet.
Good on ya to run that distance wet, both ways!
SO good to see Glitch, Ann, Kristi, and Carlos, and all the other miscreants. Graham MUST be taken to Tootsie's Orchid Lounge, the Sutler, hopefully you'll go eat at the Pinewood Social/Merchants/Jack's BBQ/or any number of places I don't know about... the main places are Broadway/Printer's Alley, then Elliston Place (home of the Exit/In and The End), then head to Hillsboro Village. That area is directly between Vanderbilt U and Belmont U- good places to walk around, and ALL the pretty people are there. Go to Fido coffeehouse.
I used to park my 280Z in Elliston Place, unload my mountain bike, then ride all over from downtown to Hillsboro Village and back. No better way to barhop! 
Barker should be home by then and provide a better chaperone/MC than me. Everything north/east of the Cumberland is very cool, and I know nothing, as of 1990.
The New Standard for Pork Loin belongs for Carlos. I work with the best chefs in this region, I know the difference. My tongue jumped out my mouth and slapped my forehead,
it was THAT good. 
My one and only complaint is that we didn't have 3 days of sunshine, and 2 nights around a campfire/bonfire.
SO good to see you all, spend time, shoot the shiznit, ride as bats outta hell/Angels from above... and such. Dave and Ann, your hugs were why I showed up.

I got home Sunday afternoon. Finished and delivered my customer's pickup. Then I got in a good nap!
It was a bit strange driving a car to a Buell event, but hey.....it was a lot better than not going! I took my camera but never thought to get it out since I wasn't riding. 
Squids.....Hugh has me beat to! I drove the car to the event and complained about the rain.
So great to see Glitch walking up on the porch Saturday! It was truly inspiring.
The good folks at TWoS have done a fantastic job in fixing up/advancing the place. 
Mike I got your text, back at ya! (I'm not much of a texter).
Graham, next time right?

I am glad I got to hang out with the folks at C3 central for a bit. I only had a little time to ride, but the ride over from Nashville on Saturday was about as perfect as it can get.
Really good to see everyone, especially Glitch. Best quote of the weekend was Glitch saying, "When I woke up in the hospital, I thought 'Where did I crash?'". 
Now that's a true motorcyclist! |

Since I've been back home, we've had nothing but sunshine. Had a good ride home Sunday, but it was overcast, and I kept wondering if I'd have to pull out the rain gear...
my luck seemed better than Hugh's, I'll take it!
If we'd had at least 3 days and 2 nights, with a bigger crew at TWoS, I'd feel better. Never got to do a campfire, dangit!
All that aside, the biggest payoff for my efforts was seeing all y'all. Plus, it's always a thrill to ride with the main group...

Kids,
I missed out. I rode 45 miles North to see Ferris on Saturday and slugged through some of the worst fog I've seen this year. The slab to GA would have been a chore at 5 am. We had a good visit and at least got a few miles in.
I'm sure this event will happen next year, and our then almost 2 year old can partake in it all- this year may have been a bit much with another road trip in a few weeks.
I need to get this tenderloin recipe that CarLost has... it's in GA and every time power goes out in eastern NC I read he's got that on the grill for the starving souls to eat- I'm missing out!

For any of you in the area or who'd be willing to make another trip to NE Georgia, Rider's Hill posted this to their Facebook page over the weekend:
