This is from Glitch's wife Ann's FB page. Please join us in praying for Dave and his entire family. I'll try and keep this page updated as Ann updates her FB page. Everyone - listen up! Your prayers, thoughts, good mojo, and good vibes are needed! Dave/Glitch is in the hospital and it looks like we're going to be here for awhile. I decided to go ahead and make a mass Facebook post so I can give updates to friends in one spot. Long story that has brought us to this point, but here goes. He had a tooth pulled back in August and was given antibiotics, which is normal. About a week later, he developed an infection in his lower sinuses. About a week after finishing the round of antibiotics for that, he devloped an infection in his upper sinuses. He finished the antibiotics for that on October 26th. Still felt like he was having congestion, but with it being allergy season, we thought nothing of it. He's always had bad allergies and just deals with it. This past Saturday night, he was vomiting all night long. We thought "Oh great! Now a stomach virus!", figuring he had caught that with his immune system being kind of weakened from all this infection. He slept most of the day on Sunday. By Sunday evening, I wasn't feeling very well, so again, we just assumed we'd caught a bug, but because I hadn't been sick prior, I was able to fight it easier. He was very restless Sunday night and had a hard time sleeping. I stayed home Monday from work because I still wasn't feeling "up to par", and I was concerned about Dave staying hydrated and getting some food in him. Monday morning, he got up and made coffee like always. Then went back to bed. I kept checking on him and making sure he was drinking water. He wasn't answering my questions - does your head hurt, do you feel like you can eat, are you thirsty - the usual bedside questions. He wasn't talking to me, but he seemed like he just felt like total crap and would go back to sleep. He would wake up, wander through the house, and then go back to bed. All normal for having felt like crap for so long. Ultimately, after not being able to get him to speak to me by about 2:00, I realized something was really, bad, horribly, terribly wrong. I finally asked him "You can't talk, can you?" And he looked at me and raised his eyebrows. I couldn't get him to nod or shake his head or blink to communicate with me. So I did the natural thing and started to cry, which got him choked up, so at least he was responding accordingly. I dried it up, told him not to worry, we were gonna get him dressed and get to the ER. Phil (Smokescreen) and I got him here around 2:00 yesterday. It was a crazy parade of doctor after doctor rushing around him and rushing him off for a cat scan and an MRI. These tests, along with bloodwork, etc., show that the infection had made its way through his skull from his sinuses and has settled in between his skull and his brain. This is putting pressure on his brain, which is causing trouble with his speech and motor skills. It's very similar to having had a stroke. He was admitted to ICU yesterday, and here we will be for several more days. I've met with a neurosurgeon, and ENT, occupational therapist, and speech therapist. There should be an infection specialist coming today to see him. This is where we're at thus far. They believe he has had an underlying sinus infection for several years now - it takes a long time for infection to eat through bone. Once the tooth was pulled it made a "gateway" for the infection to run rampant and the oral antibiotics just couldn't touch it. The current plan is to have him on 2 different IV antibiotics for the next few days to get the infection under control. Once the infection is under control, they will perform surgery to release the pressure on his brain, clear the "holes" in his skull of infection, and remove his front sinuses to prevent them from ever threatening his brain again. After the surgery, they'll be better able to assess any possible long term damage, which will require physical/speech/cognitive therapy to reclaim. Right now, we're in "wait and see" mode. His white cell count is less than yesterday, which is good. He still has a fever, but they said that is good - it means the body is fighting. I've also been told that his motor skills can be brought back and may return totally on their own once the pressure is relieved and the infection is under control. Please keep him in your prayers. Please also spread the word across Badweb to all his buddies there. I know he has FB friends that aren't on my list, so if anyone is a mutual, please share the news with them as well. We need all the prayers - to whatever God or deity or spaghetti monster you choose. This is probably more detail than anyone wanted to know, but I guess I'm purging. I'll post updates to keep everyone in the loop as things progress. |

This is very bad news. Glitch is a icon in the Buell community and I join all the fellow Badwebbers in prayers for a speedy recovery. Kristi, and I know this is preaching to the choir, let Ann know that we are many, mobile and always ready to help if there is anything we can be doing as they work through this. Please keep us updated. He's one of us. Thoughts and prayers . . . Court |

Thanks everyone. I'm chatting with a few local mutual friends that can keep us updated on their needs. I know Dave is a proud man and would never ask for anything, but family is family. Once I know more, I'll post up. Thanks again everyone for the prayers. Dave and Ann need all the prayers you can muster up to get them through this. Kristi |
