Forgive my ignorance but why should Russia not deploy its weapons of choice in Crimea? I'd have thought her doing so would be bloody obvious. More so in the face of Western land grabbing in the region. Oh I forgot. I'm debating with American's. That said, I don't think it's going to make much difference where a nuke is launched from, give or take a few hundred miles. We are talking here about the significance Russia gives to the region rather than nuclear ability, and if this turns out to be factual, it would appear the West (the U.S. ultimately) brought this on themselves, meddling in Ukraine as they are. Hoot, it's simple. Putin felt threatened by the EU, the expansion of NATO into his sphere, and Russia had been promised ( by someone, don't recall whom ) that NATO would not surround his tiny and weak nation. So he had no choice but to invade the Ukraine, hold fake elections, invade Ukraine again, shoot down a civilian airliner, ( a mistake, like every other time Russia has shot down a civilian airliner ) and have his minions threaten to turn Europe and the United States into a radioactive wasteland. No choice, I tell you! This has Nothing to do with any other Russian Invasions of former Soviet slave states, like Georgia, even though the excuse, that He only wanted to protect the poor Russian speaking people the Soviets had sent to live there as an act of slow genocide and political power, are exactly the same. It may have a lot to do with the obvious dishonesty of Obama, or his role as Putin's love child... it's hard to tell, since Obama lies like a rug. I mean, You don't trust him not to make war on YOU, why should Putin? And to be fair, Doves have a tendency to bluster and back themselves into a corner, then being incapable of comprehending war, cause it to be much worse. In Rand studies where politicians are run through a "you are the President and X has invaded Y" the Doves tend to go to nuclear Armageddon. That doesn't really work with Obama, though, because even though he plays a Dove on TV he's proven his ability to order people murdered and is proud of it. So while we watch Obama bomb the nation of a staunch Russian ally, with utter incompetence, because of poll numbers, know that when the City near you turns into a firestorm, It WASN'T Putin's fault. Apparently in the process of breaking up the Ottoman Empire, and giving the pieces to their friends, France and England promised each and every one that they would be the heart of the new caliphate, the Empire they broke up, and look at what really happened! No new Empire. So It's all the English and French fault, and apparently Woodrow's though I don't know how much influence he had over the Colonial Powers in the decision making process. Given that premise we are just fools for telling anyone in that part of the world to stop selling slaves, or killing each other, or doing genocide, since WE promised them they could. Besides, Rocket complains when I use history to refute his stuff, I can use history to support his point too. Yes, Russia hasn't been invaded this year. The memories of past invasions lingers on. Ask anyone from Stalingrad. The US doesn't have mass graves that the old folk visit every Sunday. You can tell how much shelling a Russian town had in the last invasion by the ratio of old, pretty buildings and Soviet ugly concrete in the city center. German invaded Russia so many times it's a tradition, like France. That may not be a rational excuse to invade Ukraine, to you, but it's the reason Putting gives his people. It's the Reason Putin's minions call the Ukrainians Nazis, and, guess what? Some of their grandparents did fight for the Nazis against the Soviets. Think for a second about that... You live where the Soviet Hordes are raping their way across the country and turning everyone into slaves for the Glorious Revolution. They are going to steal everything you own, turn you out of your house, and you got a good chance that ancient hatreds will rise and they will murder every one in your ethnic group. And the German Hordes are.... Glorious Fuhrer.....same same. Which side do you fight for?
