So Obama must of course invade full-on boots on the ground. Unbelievable. http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2014/10/14/worl d/middleeast/us-casualties-of-iraq-chemical-weapon s.html?_r=0 Some excerpts:
Nonetheless, the Pentagon continued to withhold data, leaving the public misinformed as discoveries of chemical weapons accelerated sharply. In late 2005 and early 2006, soldiers collected more than 440 Borak 122-millimeter chemical rockets near Amara, in southeastern Iraq. And in the first nine months of 2006, the American military recovered roughly 700 chemical warheads and shells, according to data obtained under the Freedom of Information Act. British forces also destroyed 21 Borak rockets in early 2006, including some that contained nerve agent, according to a public statement to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons in 2010. The Pentagon did not provide this information to the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence as it worked in the summer of 2006 examining intelligence claims about Iraq’s weapons programs. Even as the Senate committee worked, the American Army made its largest chemical weapons find of the war: more than 2,400 Borak rockets. … By 2006, the American military had found dozens of these blister-agent shells in Iraq, and had reports of others circulating on black markets, several techs said. Tests determined that many still contained mustard agent, some at a purity level of 84 percent, officials said. Had these results been publicly disclosed, they would have shown that American assertions about Iraq’s chemical weapons posing no militarily significant threat were not true. … And still more mustard shells were found. The last large discovery of chemical rounds widely known among ordnance techs occurred at a surprising place — a security compound known as Spider, beside a highway south of Tikrit. During the occupation, both American and Iraqi units had worked from the compound. The presence of mustard shells there, soldiers said, appeared a result of negligence. The discovery, described by different sources as in 2010 or early 2011, was made when an Iraqi security officer visited Contingency Operating Base Speicher, and told the ordnance disposal troops there that Iraqi troops had opened a shipping container and found it packed with chemical shells. … The rockets appeared to have been buried before American airstrikes in 1991, he said. Many were empty. Others still contained sarin. “Full-up sloshers,” he said. |

So... When are we going to hear that this is a war for oil? Not my war? Beats not bombs? These are the only arms we need? |

Wait.. . . I heard there were no WMD? Bush was thoroughly pounded for all of this being the figment of his imagination just so he could invade and make Cheney richer. I'll be a monkey's uncle. Well. . . . let's see how the stoner from Chicago and his minions handle this. Shame that the war on terror was declared over, eh ? |

"The Pentagon did not provide this information to the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence as it worked in the summer of 2006 examining intelligence claims about Iraq’s weapons programs." And yet, somehow, news of the discoveries and the fact that the British were incinerating them filtered down to the pages of an insignificant motorcycling forum. (No offense intended.) The Senate Select Committee knew. But since it was a partisan committee, they chose not to include it in their report. (Offense intended.) |

The spin in that article is disgusting. Saddam had chemical weapons. We knew that he did. He said he had destroyed them, but had no proof. It was the unaccounted for weapons that were the issue. I still believe most of them went to Syria. |

Apparently the pentagon heard a calm deep voice, "these are not the chemical weapons you're looking for." >>> The spin in that article is disgusting. I agree Jeff. I wonder how long the Marxists at the NY Times had to work to figure out a way to use the information to malign America and our military. It's so transparent, it's a joke. I'm surprised they didn't show images of kitties and puppies covered in gunk. But forbid it that they show images of Halabja, mass murder of civilians by S. Hussein's chemical weapons. Of course they surely conjured their favorite example, the agent orange propaganda from Vietnam. Still what ought o be the headline admission, though predictably buried by the Times, is still there: Had these results been publicly disclosed, they would have shown that American assertions about Iraq’s chemical weapons posing no militarily significant threat were not true. No worries though. "ISIL is a JV team." And it's all just an inconvenient game to our liar in chief. Same as the threat of Ebola. Where did all the new stuff go? Some may have been destroyed by S? Hussein. Surely some went to Sunni and/or Ba'athist allies in Syria, then some made its way on to Jordan, where a plot to detonate a MASSIVE (20 tons) chemical weapons bomb trucked in from Syria by al qaeda, was thankfully thwarted. |

The other revelation of interest, but buried and twisted to yet again try to blame America...
When Iraq went arms shopping in the 1980s, it found manufacturers in Italy and Spain willing to deal their copies. By 1988, these two countries alone had sold Iraq 85,000 empty M110-type shells, according to confidential United Nations documents. Iraq also obtained shells from Belgium. |

Blake...about two weeks. That's when the news came out that the British built & run incinerator for the left over chemical weapons was under threat. Maybe four weeks? And the stores of poison gas some useful folk insist never existed.......despite pointing out the truth. Like the mustard gas found by Polish troops.... What's that impolite phrase pointing out prior warnings? |

I’m not a big conspiracy theorist but something still stinks here… Why the secrecy on the military’s part? Although there is something to the theory of embarrassment about not finding post ’91 WMDs as well as finding WMDs based on western design and components, however none of those really have any negative bearing on the US military’s image. CIA/NSA different story. You’d think they would want to spread this news with a heaping helping of propaganda for the whole world to see. The only person/group with the power to quiet the armed forces to this degree would be Commander in Chief and his cabinet. Even then you would think that GWB would want to use this info for political gain. And if it really was about saving face within his administration, then why didn’t the Bummer use it for political gain? You know damn well he’s all about waving the bloody shirt… |

http://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2014/jun/26/chi lcot-report-delayed-iraq-war-tony-blair Odd how the Chilcott Enquiry has yet to publish its findings. This despite demands from a nations people right up to the deputy Prime Minister himself, for Chilcott to do so. In a statement last November, Sir John said he was waiting for the "satisfactory completion of discussions between the inquiry and the Government on disclosure of material that the inquiry wishes to include in its report or publish alongside it" http://web.orange.co.uk/article/news/clegg_demands _iraq_inquiry_report_is_released I wonder what Nick Clegg thinks of the New York Times knowing more than he does on the matter of what is currently locked within said enquiry. Forgive me, but it's been busy the past few days, and I'm short on time to search this out myself, if it's even out there. If I understand this correctly, the Pentagon held this information from Congress and the public. This seems to leave a very important question open though, that I think deserves a very direct and blunt answer. Did the Pentagon also keep this from our Commander in Chief, or did they do this at the request of our CIC? One is just very hard for me to understand, but I recognize that there could be issues that I'm not privy to. The other seems to border on treason. If it's the latter, then heads need to roll. Is there a public answer to this question at this point? BTW, I think we should now be allowed 10+ years of chanting "Bush told the truth". |

If I had been Bush I would have piled poison gas shells in the Capitol Rotunda. If Bush had been me he wouldn't have emptied them first. You may chant at will. The New York Times is most famous with Me for it's lies about Stalin ordering the murder of millions of Ukrainians. Total denial and fawning praise for the joys of living in the enlightened Soviet workers paradise. #2 mass murderers in history. Adolph was a poker in comparison. |

Did the Pentagon also keep this from our Commander in Chief, or did they do this at the request of our CIC? Given the amount of Bush Blair transcripts seen by Chilcott, the answer will be known to the enquiry. Whether this type of information will be made public or not is what's holding up publication. This whilst the two governments involved negotiate with Chilcott on how he tells it. Or closer to the truth, how he tells what they allow him to tell. Do you actually bother to read any links I post? What in the hell is going on? In all my years I've never seen anything like it. The world is on the verge of imploding and there is no one at the helm. I'm reminded of the movie, Idiocracy. That second to last line is the opposite to reality. We deliberately drew terrorists to Iraq. Then killed them. There. Worked great. A bit hard on the Iraqis. The rest fairly accurately describes the brilliance of Obama. ... (sarcasm) who armed ISIS in Syria and started the mess. |
