Sad to hear about this. He was a very innovative individual. I was hoping to see some cool stuff from him in the future. |

Also a good moral to get things check out BEFORE they become terminal. Many years ago (some may remember my story) I was having headaches that I just kept ignoring. It wasn't until my vision started to blur that I FINALLY went to a doctor. My blood pressure was 220 over 170!! If I'd waited any longer I probably wouldn't be writing this missive today. If ANYTHING seems out of the ordinary, get it checked out before it's too late. |

quote, "I don’t hold the same beliefs my grandparents do, who truly think they’re going to the pearly gates. I don’t believe that. After a while, the burden is too heavy..." That is the saddest part of this story. I first came across Michael and his electric stuff a few year back. Since then, his work keeps popping up here and there. I like Czysz, his engineering, his creative spirit, his enthusiasm for developing his own products. I was really hoping he'd start developing a commercial brand for his electric stuff. I have had several family members and friends die. The hardest ones are the ones who don't believe in God or salvation. There is a world of difference between the death of a nonbeliever, and a Christian who's soul you know beyond the shadow of a doubt is going home. I cannot imagine dying with that kind of uncertainty in my heart. It must be the most terrifying thing in the universe. Please pray for Michael, for his body, and for his heart. I will be. |

Wow. Reminds me of John Britten's story, which ended much, much too short. When the original c1 debuted, I was fascinated by the amount of innovative tech that went into it- then the E-bikes just dominated at the IOM- SO much brilliance in design. Here's hoping he can beat the odds. |

I wish I could find more info on this engine that he was working on. Twin cranks, triple overhead cams. He thought way outside the box.

A bit from wikipedia...
quote:The 990cc four cylinder engine is mounted to the frame longitudinally, rather than transversely as on most similarly configured motorcycles. A transverse arrangement fights a bike's gyroscopic tendency to stand up when leaned over and applying throttle. The C1, on the other hand, in order to negate the resulting gyroscopic forces of the longitudinal orientation, has its lengthwise-mounted inline 4 engine cut in half, with the resulting crankshaft halves counter-rotating. Thus, the bike handles with no noticeable gyroscopic force from the engine.[7] Two of the bike's four throttle bodies are controlled mechanically, while the other two are controlled electronically by the ECU, hypothetically smoothing power delivery. The ECU-controlled throttle bodies can be adjusted by computer for refinement of the throttle curve. Unfortunately for the company, the FIM and Dorna reduced the engine capacity for a MotoGP bike to 0.8 l (800 CCs) for the 2007 season, rendering the C1's configuration invalid for competition in that class. Michael Czysz commented in a blog post[8] that they are looking towards racing the bike in either AMA or WSB competition.

Oh great, someone had to bring religion into this thread. |

Could be worse... could be politics. Hey, from what I read in the article, Czysz is at peace with himself. Who cares what he believes happens when the lights go out? |

I wish I could find more info on this engine that he was working on. Type "Birth of a Racer - Moto Czysz C1" into Youtube. I've not watched it myself and have meant to for so long now..... Rocket in England |

Oh great, someone had to bring religion into this thread. Michael Czysz brought religion into the thread by mentioning it in his interview. If you don't like a comment that someone posted, why not say something to the person who did it, instead of acting like the person who's in the room doesn't know you're talking about him? Michael brought religion into the interview, and I commented on something straight out of the interview. I even used quotation marks. 100% on topic. If you don't want to discuss religion, fine, don't. If you don't want it to be part of the link, write or call the editor and tell him you'd rather not have to deal with the matter. And if that doesn't work, write or call Michael, and ask him not to mention personal beliefs in future interviews. I take it there are no english videos covering that engine? I think Michael borrowed some design cues from the XB's frame for his C1. |

quote:With the desire, and now the means, to go toe-to-toe with the world’s best, Czysz created MotoCzysz, his motorcycle company dedicated to building what he called a “real American superbike.” Yes, that’s a jab at Erik Buell.
Whose bike is running in WSBK and whose bike is just a design concept? |

Haha. Didn't know Michael was a member of the forum! Assuming it's really him, he registered in '06 under that name. Michael, if you read this, just want to let you know how much I admire your work. And I wouldn't be sorry! Competition is what causes us to strive harder, developing better products! Praying for you, brother. |

Well, when that comment was expressed Buell was still in business and churning out bikes that even Erik would admit didn't qualify as superbikes. You need a boatload of cash and talent to field a superbike. I'm in awe at what Michael Czysz was able to accomplish with so little. |

I think Michael borrowed some design cues from the XB's frame for his C1. How did you come to that conclusion? I don't see any similarity at all !! The c1's frame is made from carbon fiber and contains the airbox not the fuel. |

Look at it. You could practically set a "kick ash" airbox cover and XB9SX frame pucks on it. |

Pretty sure I could put an XB airbox cover on that. I'm exaggerating a tiny bit, but not much. the shape looks very familiar. This tank shape sure looks like something I've seen before, as well Enough with that. While I've gotta say, I thought this looked too much like an alien space motorcycle a couple years ago, this thing has really grown on me. It just looks like electronic horsepower at it's finest! All it needs is an attractive pillion. Michael, please make a street version of these, affordable for the average motorcycle enthusiast! |
