I haven't seen this mentioned in the other political threads, but then again, they're hard to keep up with. Has anyone else been following the story of the missing airplanes from the Tripoli International Airport? What are your thoughts on this? To be honest, I'm a little nervous. |

I will bet my last dollar that ANYTHING in our air space bigger than a sparrow will be watched very closely as we near the anniversary of the cowardly attack by that bunch of pig shaggers. |

Well, we do have a new WTC to hit... I think it more likely the planes will be used on more local targets, Egypt seems to me to be a prime target since they are resisting the Muslim Brotherhood. Also Israel, always a favorite. We are getting close to the anniversary of Obama's nap before the Beyoncé fundraiser in Vegas... I think that's a thing all should remember. I wonder if there will be a higher level of alert this year on 9/11? |

I hate the way media spouts the words FEAR and TERROR as if that is the proper response to mindless the brutality of fanatics. FEAR and TERROR are for men weak of spirit. Do not fear. Do not pacify. Stand. |

I don't think they would get anywhere near US airspace. I do think that easier targets would be western Europe and Israel. |

The last plane or two that got lost... we learned ALOT of info about how they track planes ... what radar is used... what needs to be on/off to be tracked...etc etc etc (I have no idea if we learned it all) But I am sure the bad guys learned it as well. Maybe only what they needed to learn if they are even up to something. THAT fact is always scary to me..., I mean seeing our righteous news anchors/reporters asking the same questions the FBI or CIA would be and getting the answers on live tv. I always cringe when I hear TMI coming across the airwaves. That said... if a plane traveled below 500ft and had all said trackers removed... who's radar would it show up on?? Only military?? (or all??) OR will we not know until it flies over edge of the coast? (Some of these missing planes have over 6k range) |

I can't believe, with the technology we have and the cost of these planes, that they don't have GPS built into the electronics, so it can't be disabled. |

If they want to hit us all they have to do it walk across the Mexican border. The simplest way for them to do something would be to coordinate an attack around the Christmas holiday where they attack a bunch of shopping malls all on the same day and all they would need is small arms. |

Mac, I've wondered why that hasn't happened yet, like in Mumbai. It wouldn't be anything to block the exits or do car bombs at the doors of a big mall on Black Friday. I read a while back that experts were surprised that it hasn't happened yet. |

F15/F16 ACTIVE PATROLS spot the plane(s) force down or shoot down, consider air liner with dirty bomb material crash in large town in us if this happens and more retoric, and still no action. he drew that red line with moochelles lipstick. |

I'll admit that it crossed my mind. 9/11/2001 they relied on having heavy fuel loads to do damage. In this case they could strip out anything not needed and load it with fertilizer bombs or whatever to maximum take off weight. It could in theory be far more powerful than the WTC attack. Do they control an airport that this could be based out of? That would be a point of difficulty if they don't. I have a feeling it may not be too hard to enter our airspace unchallenged as nothing but a blip on radar. Private pilots do that daily. Drug smugglers have done it for decades. The good news for the short term is that they likely don't have any trained pilots willing to kill themselves for the cause. That takes time. Of course a crash course could be done pretty quickly to learn the basics that are needed. Hard to say what aircraft skills they have available. Something like for instance, the US embassy in Iraq could be an easy target for something like this. US city? It's a possibility from what I know. Add a nice North Korean nuke and you have real problems, but you could do that with a much smaller aircraft. |

If you are a CCW holder, be sure and carry a patriotic caliber on the 9/11 anniversary. Which would you pick, the Sig P220 in .45 ACP, the 1941 1911 stamped "property of US government", or the 18 round Beretta M9 with "remember 9/11" laser cut into the slide? |

I just renewed mine last week. Waiting for the call to pick it up. I'd go with ye ol' 1911 if I had the choice. I'll probably be packing the P32 and P95. The patriotic gun can't be carried. It's a freshly built AR! |

Looking for an easy way to cripple the US? This is by no means a new idea, I read something similar in a book many years ago. Large dirty bombs, 40' shipping containers, set off remotely in several major ports. Instant chaos, imports & exports would virtually cease overnight. I'm afraid I have become rather cynical in my old age though. As has been pointed out some kinds of atrocities haven't been carried out. Why? No profit in it. Follow the money, see who's making off the misery. I'll not name names but just look around you & read between the lines of the writing on the wall. |

I am working 1 block away, all I can say is there is a VERY surreal feeling down there the last couple days. Alot of little curly things behind ears, air monitors everywhere, blacked out suburbans and the like. Riding in on my urban assault vehicle, key is in ignition and EYES WIDE OPEN!! Be Safe, And GOD BLESS AMERICA

Ditto ........ I came out of class this evening and noticed lots of body armor at 116th & Broadway near the 1 train. I've got a plan. I'm sure most do. Of course ...... I also have a 2:00pm meeting with some PhD from the Corps of Engineers to discuss Timber Rattlesnakes ( I have to catch and relocate them) and Indiana bats ...... My fate may be worse. :-) |

Be safe and smart in NYC. For some reason I just have a bad feeling about this anniversary. Probably because we just look so weak and hapless relative to the executive branch, we have finally let politics completely trump effectiveness. It was always a delicate balance, but the current administration seems to have driven off the cliff. We will pay a price for that, and I hope it's not in more innocent lives. |

K12, I try to get to NYC once a year and usually come in from New Jersey on the subway, so I come out at the basement of the WTC and it's been amazing to see it as it progressed |

When Barry got elected I predicted/feared ( not to be confused with wanted/hoped ) that we were going to abandon our new allies in Iraq, and that Congress was going to repeat the shame of Vietnam, where they screwed people in a foreign land for domestic politics. Tens of Millions of people were then murdered. So... he did. The first turning point was during the campaign when Obama declared Iraq the wrong war and Afghanistan the Right war. Also, to be fair when GW Bush allowed a theocratic Constitution to be passed. I'll blame his advisers.... but he was in charge. Obama decided to let the rebels in Iran be murdered on the streets after telling them he was with them. Then Obama decided to let the freely elected leader of Iraq who was in power by our responsibility, defy his own nation's laws and stay in power when his party lost the election. Then Obama decided not to bother negotiating for a semi-permanent presence in Iraq leaving the wrong people in charge and letting it all go to hell. At the same time Obama delayed the assault on Osama Bin laden for over a month, was called in from the golf course to catch the video, ( most of the time he was back from golfing was spent playing cards, and smoking ) and took full credit for the brilliance of the assault. About which he had made NO decisions. Then revealed classified details to make himself look big and got members of SEAL team 6 killed. Not the first time his bragging has killed people. All this while getting more US serviceman killed in Iraq and Afghanistan in 4 years than Bush in 8.... like he doubled the Debt. And now Obama's decisions to support Jihadist across Africa and the Middle East, to run illegal gun running operations to give guns to Jihadi in Syria, have led to ISIS well on it's way to conquering Iraq and already in possession of a big chunk of Syria, selling oil from captured wells to the tune of Million$ a day.... And at 9 tonight he's supposed to give a speech... presumable he won't use the terms Islamic, jihadi, war, or anything that violates his lies, and ask Congress to give him lots of money to give to more jihadi.. which he will probably call "moderate" many times... ( which really means they are not the exact flavor of Jihadi ISIS is, so consider them the enemy too ) And tomorrow... on the anniversary of 9/11.... Is Obama going to a fund raiser or to play golf? Because I bet you $10 he's not going to be ready for the attacks on the US Embassies around the world and quite possibly on the US. No doubt by some "unaccompanied minor" named Kalid who will turn out to be 24 years old, ( oops ) trained in Pakistan by the Taliban........... Short form. Hang on. |

On a happier note... Obama denied entry to 4 golf clubs

Serves the hacker right. When Barry got elected I predicted/feared ( not to be confused with wanted/hoped ) that we were going to abandon our new allies in Iraq, and that Congress was going to repeat the shame of Vietnam, where they screwed people in a foreign land for domestic politics. And I predicted the sun would come up in the morning. Did one of us take a long shot? Didn't think so. |

By "extraordinary" I assume he means "100% predictable and obvious to the grown ups in the room". Or maybe it means "when exactly what you made fun of Bush for saying would happen happens". How pathetic, that Bush on an aircraft carrier at the end of a specific successfull mission declares "mission accomplished", and the media turns that into a Bush failure for taking a "victory lap". Meanwhile, Obama declares we are leaving a safe and stable Iraq, and the media says "oh, well obviously that means it will be safe and stable if somebody other than the US makes it safe and stable, because it sure as hell isn't safe and stable now". We deserve a better media, and we deserve better leaders, and I think these two facts are closely related. |
