1047.5 miles in less than 19.5 Hours Columbus, Oh to Nashville, TN. Nashville, TN to Wytheville, VA Wytheville, VA back to Columbus. We left Columbus about 3 PM on Sunday. Hit rain just outside of Louisville and on the WV Turnpike. Got home at a little after 10 this morning. Just outside Louisville

Now THAT gains my complete and total admiration! I'm preparing to "get lost" in the hours ahead but I'm testing and double checking lot of "comfort systems" . . . you adventure is REAL riding! Very cool and what an adventure! Semper Fi |

The beaded cover I have on there cost 10 bucks at Walmart. For 10 bucks + or - I highly recommend giving it a try. Keeps the backside cool and dry! If ya don't like it.... give it to a cab driver |

A couple of years ago I did 1200+ miles in 20 hours (including 2 hour layover in Mojave so I wouldn't arrive home at 4:00 am) on a KTM 990 ADV. People think you're nuts to iron-butt on an adventure bike but once you get in the groove, it's not that bad. But a DRZ in the rain? I've officially been way outdone. Congrats. |

The Walt Disney quote seen in the restaurant pic from Wytheville says it all: "If you can dream it, you can do it..." Congratulations! |

Wolfridgerider: obviously the dr works for you. With all of the words on the klr, what is your take on your dr long term. Ive been shopping for something and dont know what yet. Any quirks and does the air cooled motor hang in there long term with regular maintenance? Any weak points? |

So far, I love the DR650. Its very easy to work on. I bought the shop manual when I purchased the bike so I could do my own maintenance. The valve adjustment was easy. The rest is pretty straight forward. Check this, tighten that. Good source of info is Drriders.com and a evil, pocket draining place to go is Procycle. I just dropped about 1500 bucks there. I purchased a 6.6 gallon tank. Black plastics. 520 chain conversion and a new mid pipe so I can run a Busa stock exhaust can. I like to farkle! Some people golf... I farkle! |

Sorry to say that I didn't. I should have! It was a easy bike to put miles on. I did put on over 900 miles in one sitting on my way to Daytona. Wish I would have planned a Iron Butt for that trip. It would have been easy to ride for a couple of more hours. |

Congratulations. Your riding buddy doesn't look like he was having any fun. I just did one this past weekend on a 650 Vstrom adventure bike. I'm looking for a bigger tank. Do you have a link? |

I went from WNY to mid western FL on my S1. I image it was a similar experience...butt wise. |
